The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of oriental medicine therapy for 67 patients who have suffered from hepatoma from January 1st 1998 to September 30th 2000. Methods: Oriental medicine was administered to patients for over 3 months continuously. We checked improvement of clinical symptoms, hematological changes, and antitumor effects. The results obtained are summarized as follows. Oriental medicine has significant effect on the improvement of clinical symptoms and hematological changes. And according to the analysis of antitumor effects, the rates of maintenance and improvement were over 85%. From the above results, it is suggested that oriental medicine has significant effects of antitumor and immune activity, also could be usefully applied for hepatoma patients by combination with western therapy or alone.
