        Effects of Pilger Rolling and Heat Treatment on Microstructure and Corrosion Resistance of Ag-electroplated 304 Stainless Steel Tubes

        We introduce a cost-effective method that combines electroplating with metal cold working processes to manufacture compositetubes with robust corrosion resistance. First, a 3-step electroplating process was developed to form an adhesive anduniform Ag coating on the outer wall of a 304 stainless steel tube. The process consisted of a Ni-strike step for removing thepassivation layer of the initial 304 tube, Cu deposition for smoothing the surface by adding a buffer layer, and Ag deposition. To reinforce the interfacial adhesion between the electroplated layers and the 304 tube and increase the area of the Ag coating,a pilger rolling or pilger rolling + heat-treatment process was performed after the Ag electroplating process. Scanningelectron microscopy of the composite tubes after each process indicated that the as-deposited Ag coating changed fromhaving a rough to smooth surface after only pilger rolling and with additional heat treatment. Electron backscatter diffractionanalysis of the microstructures and textures of the tubes revealed that dynamic recrystallization occurred extensively duringpilger rolling, resulting in the formation of a relatively defect-free grain structure without heat treatment. Furthermore,electrochemical polarization curves determined that the Ag-coated composite tubes are superior to the uncoated 304 tubein terms of corrosion resistance under Cl−atmosphere, owing to the formation of a AgCl passivation layer during testing. Surface analysis of the composite tubes suggests that the properties of the AgCl passivation layer are related to the grainsize of the Ag coating and the density of plastic-deformation-induced defects.

        불법 주정차 차량 단속을 위한 차량 검지 및 추적 기법

        본 논문은 불법 주정차 단속을 위한 정지 차량 검지 및 추적 기법을 제안한다. 제안하는 알고리즘은 크게 네 부분으로 구성되어 있다. 먼저, 입력 영상으로부터 움직이는 차량을 구분하기 위하여 향상된 코드북 물체 검지 알고리즘을 이용한 차량 검지 알고리즘을 제안한다. 두 번째로 차량의 기하학적 특징을 이용하여 차량이 아닌 물체는 제외시키는 전처리 기법을 사용한다. 그런 다음, 검지된 결과 차량들을 히스토그램 추적 기법과 칼만 필터를 결합한 추적 알고리즘을 이용하여 추적한다. 추적 결과를 더 정확하게 하기 위하여, 히스토그램 추적 결과를 칼만 필터의 측정 데이터로 사용한다. 마지막으로, 정지 차량 검지 알고리즘의 신뢰성 있고 정확한 성능을 위하여 실제 정지 카운터 (RSC)를 제안한다. 실험결과로부터 제안한 시스템은 복잡한 실제 도로 환경에서도 여러 차량을 동시에 추적할 수 있고, 정지 차량을 성공적으로 검지해냄을 확인한다. This paper presents a robust vehicle detection and tracking algorithm for supervision of illegal parking. The proposed algorithm is composed of four parts. First, a vehicle detection algorithm is proposed using the improved codebook object detection algorithm to segment moving vehicles from the input sequence. Second, a preprocessing technique using the geometric characteristics of vehicles is employed to exclude non-vehicle objects. Then, the detected vehicles are tracked by an object tracker which incorporates histogram tracking method with Kalman filter. To make the tracking results more accurate, histogram tracking results are used as measurement data for Kalman filter. Finally, Real Stop Counter (RSC) is introduced for trustworthy and accurate performance of the stopped vehicle detection. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can track multiple vehicles simultaneously and detect stopped vehicles successfully in the complicated street environment.

        차종을 고려한 주차 계획단위 산정 및 주차계획 방법 제시

        현재 주차장 내 주차단위구획과 차로너비 규정의 경우 주차장법 시행규칙의'주차장 구조 및 설치기준'에 의거하여 계획설치되고 있다. 그러나 최근 RV차량 및 대형승용차가 급속히 증가하는 추세에서 기존의 주차단위구획의 설치기준으로는 주차 시 발생하는 차량훼손 민원 주차장 이용자의 통행불편 주차장 유지·관리 등의 문제를 해소하기 힘든 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 현실에 적합한 주차단위구획과 차로너비 규정의 재정비가 필요하다는 판단 하에 최근 증가하는 국내·외 RV차량 및 대형승용차의 차량제원 최소 회전반경 주차시 운전자 주행행태 등을 고려하여 주차단위구획 및 차로너비를 산정하였다. 산정된 주차단위구획 및 차로너비를 국외 사례와 비교·분석한 후 기존보다 확대된 주차단위구획 및 차로너비를 이용하여 주차시 운전자의 편의성 및 비용적 측면을 고려한 최적의 개선방안을 제시하였다. 또한 교통안전을 고려한 주차단위구획과 차로너비의 개선방안 그리고 차종별 주차계획 방법을 제시하였다. 주차장 내 원활한 차량소통과 안전을 도모한 주차계획단위 산정 및 주차계획 방법을 제시함으로써 향후 주차장의 구조 설치기준의 정립과 주차장 교통안전 개선에 이바지할 것으로 판단된다. At the present planning and installation of parking space sections and lane width are implemented in accordance with the installation standard and parking lot structure by the enforcement regulations of the Parking Act. While large and RV (Recreational Vehicle) vehicles have increased in number recently parking is complex with improper installation standards. It causes serious problems including vehicle vandalism increased civil complaints travel inconveniences for parking lot users management and maintenance issues for parking lots and so forth. The study therefore determined that the practical and appropriate realignment of parking unit adjustment and lane width regulations are essential. The study conducted prior review on domestic parking sections and change cases of composition by vehicle types including the component ratio of domestic and foreign vehicles width of vehicle by types in order to examine the parking problems that account for a increasing social issues and provided parking plan methods by types of vehicle as well as reform and reaction plans for parking unit adjustment and lane width considering security and smooth traffic flow After comparing and analyzing between estimated installation of parking space and lane width and internal and external cases the study suggests the improvement that considers expenses and convenience of a driver. Also it shows installation of parking space that considers traffic safety improvement of lane width and parking way depends on vehicle types. By providing estimation for parking planning and parking planning methods that secure safe and smooth traffic flow within a parking lot the study will contribute to the development of improved alternatives for cost-effective traffic safety and set-up structure including installation standards of parking lots.

      • Combined pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in non-small cell lung cancer: Impact on survival and acute exacerbation

        Background: In non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients, concomitant idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) or emphysema is related to poor survival independently. Combined pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema (CPFE) is a condition with features of both pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema. Here, we evaluated the effect of CPFE and IPF alone on the outcomes of NSCLC patients. Patients and Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 283 patients with CPFE or IPF who were diagnosed with NSCLC between November 2003 and February 2018 at two tertiary care hospitals in South Korea. Patients were classified into the CPFE and IPF groups according to chest computed tomography findings. Results: One-hundred-and-seven patients (37.8%; mean age: 70.1 years; men 97.2%) had CPFE. Compared with IPF patients, CPFE patients had higher smoking history; lower DLco (78.0% vs 64.8%, p< 0.001), lower forced expiratory volume in 1 second. Of all patients with NSCLC, 71.7% died during the follow-up period; 71.6% died in the CPFE group and 72.0% in the IPF group. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that CPFE (odds ratio [OR]: 2.26, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.09-4.69; P = 0.029) was significantly correlated with acute exacerbations (AEs). In a Cox proportional hazards analysis, stage >III NSCLC, higher Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status, and higher gender-age-physiology index score was related to higher mortality. However, CPFE was not related to a higher mortality rate in univariate (hazard ratio [HR]: 1.04; 95% CI: 0.78-1.38, P = 0.799) or multivariate analysis (HR: 0.92; 95% CI: 0.68-1.26, P = 0.610). Conclusions: AE risk was higher in patients with CPFE and NSCLC, but all-cause mortality was not higher in patients with CPFE and NSCLC than in those with IPF and NSCLC. Physicians should be aware of the exaggerated risk of AE in patients with concomitant CPFE and NSCLC.

        Characteristics of a Mechanical Circuit Breaker with New Induction Needle and Magnets Type to Extinguish a DC Arc

        Permanent magnets are currently attracting much attention as they are used in various application devices requiring high magnetic force. There are many types of permanent magnets with different properties, and they need to be tested for suitability for the applied devices. Sintered NdFeB permanent magnets have a large coercive force and are used in a variety of application systems. In particular, they are being used in circuit breakers to protect the DC transmission and distribution systems, which are actively being developed now. DC maintains a constant current value because it does not have a frequency. Thus, it is very difficult to interrupt large transient currents when an accident occurs. Therefore, a new type of induction needle and a permanent magnet near a mechanical break contact were combined. This induction needle is serially connected to a ground wire. This new breaking technique extinguishes the arch that occurs between the contacts by pushing it to the ground using an induction needle. The permanent magnet applied here, however, must be strong against a high-temperature arc that occurs quickly, and must generate a high magnetic force. Simulations were conducted with FEM (finite element method) and TDM (time difference method) using Maxwell, an electronic analysis program, and a permanent magnet that is appropriate for use as a component of a circuit breaker was selected. Consequently, it was found that the use conditions of permanent magnets varied by the arch generated in the mechanical circuit breaker.

        Disruption of nucleocytoplasmic trafficking as a cellular senescence driver

        Senescent cells exhibit a reduced response to intrinsic and extrinsic stimuli. This diminished reaction may be explained by the disrupted transmission of nuclear signals. However, this hypothesis requires more evidence before it can be accepted as a mechanism of cellular senescence. A proteomic analysis of the cytoplasmic and nuclear fractions obtained from young and senescent cells revealed disruption of nucleocytoplasmic trafficking (NCT) as an essential feature of replicative senescence (RS) at the global level. Blocking NCT either chemically or genetically induced the acquisition of an RS-like senescence phenotype, named nuclear barrier-induced senescence (NBIS). A transcriptome analysis revealed that, among various types of cellular senescence, NBIS exhibited a gene expression pattern most similar to that of RS. Core proteomic and transcriptomic patterns common to both RS and NBIS included upregulation of the endocytosis-lysosome network and downregulation of NCT in senescent cells, patterns also observed in an aging yeast model. These results imply coordinated aging-dependent reduction in the transmission of extrinsic signals to the nucleus and in the nucleus-to-cytoplasm supply of proteins/RNAs. We further showed that the aging-associated decrease in Sp1 transcription factor expression was critical for the downregulation of NCT. Our results suggest that NBIS is a modality of cellular senescence that may represent the nature of physiological aging in eukaryotes.

        Transduced Tat-DJ-1 protein inhibits cytokines-induced pancreatic RINm5F cell death

        Loss of pancreatic β-cells by oxidative stress or cytokines is associated with diabetes mellitus (DM). DJ-1 is known to as a multifunctional protein, which plays an important role in cell survival. We prepared cell permeable wild type (WT) and mutant type (M26I) Tat-DJ-1 proteins to investigate the effects of DJ-1 against combined cytokines (IL-1β, IFN-Υ and TNF-α)-induced RINm5F cell death. Both Tat-DJ-1 proteins were transduced into RINm5F cells. WT Tat-DJ-1 proteins significantly protected against cell death from cytokines by reducing intracellular toxicities. Also, WT Tat-DJ-1 proteins markedly regulated cytokines-induced pro- and anti-apoptosis proteins. However, M26I Tat-DJ-1 protein showed relatively low protective effects, as compared to WT Tat-DJ-1 protein. Our experiments demonstrated that WT Tat-DJ-1 protein protects against cytokine-induced RINm5F cell death by suppressing intracellular toxicities and regulating apoptosisrelated protein expression. Thus, WT Tat-DJ-1 protein could potentially serve as a therapeutic agent for DM and cytokine related diseases. [BMB Reports 2016; 49(5): 297-302]
