Introduction, establishment and invasion of alien species have caused worldwide environmental losses. To prevent the adverse effects of invasive alien species on ecosystems, human safety and agriculture, forestry and fisheries, Japan has enacted the Invasive Alien Species Act since 2005. Invasive Alien Species (IAS) and Uncategorized Alien Species (UAS) have been designated based on the potential adverse risks of alien species on ecosystems in Japan. The regulation on IAS and UAS have greatly reduced the importation of live wildlife in Japan, and these regulation system have been considered effective for reducing the introduction of alien species into Japan. In Korea, the harmful non-indigenous species has been regulated by the Natural Environment Conservation Act since 1998. According to the Act on Preservation and Use of Biodiversity Act (Biodiversity Act) that has been entered into force in February 2013, ecological risk assessment should be conducted for the import of potentially harmful alien species. This Act also covers the regulation of the alien species that seriously damage ecosystems (ecosystem-disturbing species), previously designated as harmful non-indigenous species. The procedures for the designation, import approval of the potentially harmful alien species and communication with stakeholder need to be improved for the efficient enforcement of the newBiodiversity Act in Korea.

In this study the progressive collapse resisting capacity of a tall building structure was evaluated and its collapse behavior was studied. The analysis model is a twenty four story reinforced concrete structure, and the progressive collapse resisting capacity was evaluated by the modified linear static analysis procedure which was developed using the nonlinear static analysis procedure. For verification of the analysis procedure, the nonlinear static and dynamic analyses were carried out and their results were compared.
SiHa 자궁경부암 세포주에서 인유두종바이러스 16형 E6/E7 siRNA에 의한 세포성장 억제 비교

목적: 인유두종바이러스 (Human papillomavirus, HPV)는 자궁경부암과 밀접한 관계가 있는 것으로 알려져 있으며, 특히 인유두종바이러스 16형은 고위험군 바이러스로 분류된다. 인유두종바이러스 16형의 암 유전자 E6와 E7의 발현 저해에 따른 자궁경부암 세포주내의 발암 유전자 특이적 변화를 확인하고자 하였다. 연구 방법: 인유두종바이러스 16형을 발현하는 자궁경부암 SiHa 세포주에서 E6 유전자에 특이적으로 작용하는 인유두종바이러스 16형 E6 siRNA (siRNA 377)와 E6와 E7 유전자에 동시에 작용하는 인유두종바이러스 16형 E6 siRNA (siRNA 3)와 인유두종바이러스 16형 E7 siRNA (siRNA 198)를 사용하였다. 각각의 siRNA를 SiHa 세포주에 이입 (transfection)시킨 후, 24시간과 48시간 후에 세포수 및 세포형태의 변화를 관찰하였다. 또한 E6와 E7에 대한 RT-PCR을 실시하여 인유두종바이러스 16형 E6, E7 siRNA의 유전자 발현 저해 정도를 확인하였다. 결과: 3종류의 siRNA 모두 세포성장 저해 효과를 나타내었으며, siRNA 377에 비해 siRNA 3와 siRNA 198의 세포성장 억제효과가 더 크게 나타났다. siRNA 377은 E6 mRNA만의 발현을 감소시켰고 siRNA 3과 siRNA 198은 E6와 E7 mRNA의 발현을 동시에 감소시켰다. 결론: 인유두종바이러스 16형이 감염된 자궁경부암 SiHa 세포주에서 E6 유전자만의 억제보다는 E6와 E7 유전자를 동시에 억제하는 것이 더 큰 세포 성장 억제를 보였다. Objective: Human cervical cancer is caused by the high-risk types of human papillomavirus (HPV) such as HPV16, which possess the E6 and E7 oncogenes, whose expressions are a prerequisite for cancer development. We performed this study to compare the efficacy of antitumor activity by HPV siRNA which silences only E6 or both E6/E7. Methods: We transfected siRNA 377 (HPV16 E6 siRNA), siRNA 3 (HPV16 E6 siRNA), and siRNA 198 (HPV16 E7 siRNA) into SiHa cell line (siRNA 377 silences only E6, and siRNA 3 and siRNA 198 silence both E6 and E7). We experimented cell counts and morphologic changes 24 and 48 hours after transfection and expressions of HPV16 E6/E7 mRNA by RT-PCR. Results: siRNA 377, siRNA 3, and siRNA 198 suppressed the cell growth. siRNA 3 and siRNA 198 were more potent than siRNA 377 in cell growth suppression. siRNA 377 knocked down the expression of E6 mRNA, and both siRNA 3 and siRNA 198 knocked down the expression of E6/E7 mRNA. Conclusion: Our results suggest that simultaneous suppression of E6 and E7 was more potent than E6-specific suppression in cancer cell growth.
Effects of Silkworm Extract on Streptozotocin-induced Diabetic Rats

This study was undertaken to find effects of ethanol extracts from Bombyx mori on the hyperglycemia induced by streptozotocin in rats. Blood glucose level of rats increased depending on experimental days after streptozotocin treatment. But there was no difference in blood glucose level between the rats injected with ethanol extracts of B. mori and normal rats. There was no significant difference in the kidney fibrosis between the rats injected with ethanol extrscts of B. mori and normal rats at all ages examined. The transforming growth factor-$\beta$l ($TGF-{\beta}1$) protein was detected in the glomerulay endothelial cells and tubular epithelial cells of streptozotocin rats at 14 days of age. In the rats injected with ethanol extracts of B. mori to the kidneys, the $TGF-{\beta}1$ protein was detected very faintly. The $TGF-{\beta}1$ mRNA of streptozotocin rats increased at 14 days of age, and this was higher than the rats injected with ethanol extrscts of B. mori. Taken these together, the results suggest that the ethanol extracts of B. mori ameliorate hyperglycemia of the rats induced by streptozotocin.
정주진정 하에 매복치 발거 시 발생된 Pulsus Paradoxus (Severe Airway Obstruction) -증례보고-

Pulsus paradoxus has been defined as a decrease in systolic blood pressure (SBP) of 10 mmHg or more during inspiration. This report describes pulsus paradoxus detected by pulse oximetry during dental procedure. Case: A 10 years old boy who had impacted mandibular premolar with malformation scheduled for extraction under intravenous sedation with Fentanyl and Propofol. The patient showed upper airway obstruction with stridor and pulsus paradoxus. Though pulsus paradoxus is generally critical condition, in this case, respiration and other vital sign was maintained comparatively well with care in administering oxygen and considerate monitoring of pulse oximetry and capnography. Discussion: Noninvasive continuous monitoring of pulse oximetry allows recognition of pulsus paradoxus which can lead to serious problems. Clinicians should know very well about it and be able to manage of this kind of situation.
비선형정적해석 절차를 이용한 선형정적 연쇄붕괴 대체경로 해석방법 개발

본 논문에서는 비선형정적해석 방법을 이용하여 기존의 연쇄붕괴 선형정적해석 절차에 수반되는 반복과정을 자동으로 수행하면서도 선형해석 결과와 동일한 결과를 나타내는 새로운 연쇄붕괴 해석절차를 제안하였다. 제안된 해석절차는 GSA 기준에 규정된 기존 선형정적해석법의 단점인 반복적 해석작업 및 그 과정에서 발생할 수 있는 시간과 오류의 가능성을 최소화하여 해석결과의 신뢰성을 확보가 있는 선형정적해석 절차이다. 제안된 해석절차를 검증하기 위하여 철근콘크리트 모멘트골조 및 철골 가새골조의 최하층 기둥부재를 제거한 후 기존 해석법과 제안 해석법을 적용하고 그 결과를 비교 분석하였다. 해석결과에 따르면 제안된 해석절차는 구조물의 붕괴여부의 판정 및 힌지 분포에 있어서 기존의 선형정적해석과 동일한 결과를 나타내었으며, 반복해석 과정이 불필요하므로 기존 해석법에 비하여 매우 짧은 시간에 해석을 수행할 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. In this paper a new analysis procedure for evaluation of progressive collapse resisting capacity of a structure was proposed based on the nonlinear static analysis procedure. The proposed procedure produces analysis results identical to those obtained by the linear static analysis procedure specified in the GSA guidelines without iteration, therefore saving a lot of computation time and excluding the possibility of human errors during the procedure. To verify the validity of the proposed procedure, the two methods were applied to the analysis of a reinforced concrete moment frame and a steel braced frame subjected to loss of a first story column and the results were compared. According to the analysis results, the two methods produce identical results in the prediction of progressive collapse and the hinge formation. As iterative analysis is not required in the proposed method, significant amount of analysis time is saved in the proposed analysis procedure.

CdS nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized in an aqueous phase in order to investigate their spectral behaviors as efficient fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) donors for various organic dye acceptors. Our prepared CdS NPs exhibiting strong and broad emission spectra between 480-520 nm were able to transfer energy in a wide wavelength region from green to red fluorescence dyes. Rhodamine 6G (Rh6G), rhodamine B (RhB), and sulforhodamine 101 acid (Texas red) were tested as acceptors of the energy transfer from the CdS NPs. The three dyes and synthesized CdS NPs exhibited good FRET behaviors as acceptors and donors, respectively. Energy transfers from the CdS NPs and organic Cy3 dye were compared to the same acceptor Texas red dye at different concentrations. Our prepared CdS NPs appeared to exhibit better FRET behaviors comparable to those of the Cy3 dye. These CdS NPs in an aqueous solution may be efficient FRET donors for various organic dyes in a wide wavelength range between green and red colors.
