부모권력구조에 대한 아동기 경험이 여대생의 성역할 정체감에 미치는 영향 : The Influence of Childhood Experience of Parental Power Structure

        김광응,유미숙,조유진 숙명여자대학교 아시아여성연구소 2004 아시아여성연구 Vol.43 No.1

The purpose of this study was to investigate how sex-role identities of female college students were related to their childhood experiences of parental power structure. Questionnaire survey was conducted with 425 female college students regarding their childhood experiences of parental power structure and their sex-role identities. Parental power structure consisted of three subfactors: parental power on family events/relative-related, child education, and home economics. It was found that the female college students formed different sex-role identity dimensions when their experiences of parental power hierarchy were measured individually in subfactors. However, they did not show differences when their experiences of parental power hierarchy were measured as the sum of subfactor scores. This supports the authors' conviction that previous measures are problematic in identifying relationships of parental power structure and children's sex-role identity. In particular, multi-response logit analysis was used in order to take into account of all the subfactors of parental power structure at the same time. As a result, childhood experiences of parental power hierarchy on child education, and on home economy were found to be closely related to the sex-role identities in the female college students. That is, the female college students, whose fathers had power on their children's education through active participation and decision-making, were likely to develop their androgyny and masculinity. On the other hand, those whose mothers had power in home economy were likely to develop masculinity. Furthermore, family events and relative-related parental power were not found to be related to the sex-role identity in female college students when the impacts of other subfactors were eliminated. It is posited that equal or balanced exertion of parental power is critical in the development of adptive and flexible sex-role identity in their children.

Vol.26 No.1

An increasing frequency of methicillin resistant S. aureus(MRSA), methicillin resistant coagulase negative staphylococci(MRCNS) and Enterococcal infection have been observed in recent years. Teicoplanin is a new glycopeptide antibiotic obstained from the Actinoplanes teicomycetius. The molecular structure and spectrum of antimicrobial activity of teicoplanin is simillar to those of vancomycin, and has been reported to have an excellent in vitro and in vivo effect against various gram-positive infections. Therefore, we evaluated the in vitor susceptibility of gram positive cocci, such as, S. aureus, coagulase negative Staphylococci(CNS), and Enterococci to teicoplanin and vancomycin. The total 253 strains consisted of MSSA(40), MRSA(53), MSCNS(47), MRCNS(48), and Enterococci(65). They were assayed by disc diffusion and agar dilution. During the study, 57% of S. aureus and 49% of CNS showed resistance to methicillin. The inhibitory diameter of teicoplanin was 15-20mm in MSSA, 12-19mm in MRSA, 13-24mm in MSCNS, 11-23mm in MRCNS, and 15-22mm in Enterococci respectively, and showed sensitivity in all but 8 strains(3.2%). The range of the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of teicoplanin to MSSA, MRSA, MSCNS, MRCNS and Enterococci were 9.12-2.0㎍/ml, 0.25-2.0㎍/ml, & 0.25-32㎍/ml, 0.12-1.0㎍/ml respectively. One case of S. haemolyticus was resistant to teicoplanin (32㎍/ml) by the agar dilution method. Eight minor (3.2%) and one major(0.4%) error was observed when the MIC and disk diffusion data were correlated with teicoplanin. As for vancomycin the inhibitory diameter was 17-21mm in MSSA, 15-21mm in MRSA, 18-26mm in MSCNS, 18-25mm in MRCNS, and 16-22mm in Enterococci respectively. The range of the MIC of vancomycin to MSSA, MRSA, MSCNS, MRCNS, and Enterococci were 0.25-1.0㎍/ml, 0.25-4.0㎍/ml, 0.5-2.0㎍/ml and 0.5-2.0㎍/ml respectively. One minor error (0.4%) was seen with the vancomycin disk. The MIC90 of MSSA and MRSA exhibited the same results in teicoplanin (1.0㎍/ml, 1.0㎍/ml), and vancomycin(2.0㎍/ml, 2.0㎍/ml). MSCNS and MRCNS exhibited greater MIC90 with teicoplanin(4.0㎍/ml, 8.0㎍/ml) than vancomycin(2.0㎍/ml, 2.0㎍/ml). Incontrase Enterococci were more susceptible to teicoplanin(0.5㎍/ml) than to vancomucin (2.0㎍/ml). Results from this analysis indicated that both teicoplanin and vancomycin were very excellent for gram positive infections, especially those resistant to methicillin.

      • Pseudomonas aeruginosa Eliminates Natural Killer Cells via Phagocytosis-Induced Apoptosis

        Chung, Jin Woong,Piao, Zheng-Hao,Yoon, Suk Ran,Kim, Mi Sun,Jeong, Mira,Lee, Suk Hyung,Min, Jeong Ki,Kim, Jae Wha,Cho, You-Hee,Kim, Jin Chul,Ahn, Jeong Keun,Kim, Kyoon Eon,Choi, Inpyo Public Library of Science 2009 PLoS pathogens Vol.5 No.8

        <▼1>
Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA) is an opportunistic pathogen that causes the relapse of illness in immunocompromised patients, leading to prolonged hospitalization, increased medical expense, and death. In this report, we show that PA invades natural killer (NK) cells and induces phagocytosis-induced cell death (PICD) of lymphocytes. In vivo tumor metastasis was augmented by PA infection, with a significant reduction in NK cell number. Adoptive transfer of NK cells mitigated PA-induced metastasis. Internalization of PA into NK cells was observed by transmission electron microscopy. In addition, PA invaded NK cells via phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) activation, and the phagocytic event led to caspase 9-dependent apoptosis of NK cells. PA-mediated NK cell apoptosis was dependent on activation of mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase and the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). These data suggest that the phagocytosis of PA by NK cells is a critical event that affects the relapse of diseases in immunocompromised patients, such as those with cancer, and provides important insights into the interactions between PA and NK cells.
</▼1><▼2>
Author Summary

Phagocytic leukocytes, including neutrophils and macrophages, are critical for innate immunity against invading bacteria. Binding and internalization of bacteria by these immune cells stimulates a variety of anti-microbial activities. Although the immune cells are specialized for elimination of bacteria, cellular apoptosis by bacterial phagocytosis has emerged as an important mechanism of pathogenesis. NK cells are non-phagocytic lymphocytes that are responsible for innate immunity via elimination of virus or bacteria-infected cells, as well as transformed cells. We found that PA invades NK cells and that this phagocytic event results in the generation of ROS within the NK cells, leading to apoptosis. The elimination of NK cells, at least in part, may be responsible for the relapse in PA-infected cancer patients. Based on these findings, studies on the interactions between bacterial determinants and host receptors should provide further insight into the mechanisms of bacterial pathogenesis.
</▼2>

      • A prospective clinical trial to evaluate the treatment effect of pulsed dye laser on thyroidectomy hypertrophic scar using 3D imaging analysis

( Jin Cheol Kim ),( Ji Sun Yoon ),( Jee Woong Choi ),( You Chan Kim ) 대한피부과학회 2020 대한피부과학회 학술발표대회집 Vol.72 No.1

Background: Pulsed dye laser(PDL) is effective modality for improving hypertrophic scar. However, heterogeneity in the parameter setting of laser and subjective scar assessment methods used in most studies makes treatment plan more uncertain. Objectives: We investigated treatment effect of PDL on hypertrophic scar using 3D imaging analysis. Methods: Nineteen patients with hypertrophic scar after thyroidectomy were treated with 8 times PDL(gradually increasing the dose by 0.5 J/cm2) at 4-6-week interval, and in elevated lesion, intralesional corticosteroid(ICS) injection was also performed. At the next visit after every two treatment sessions, we assessed scar using Vancouver Scar Scale(VSS) and an Antera 3D®. Results: In repeated measurement ANOVA, the mean VSS and patient satisfaction significantly improved, and the difference of those values was significant until the six treatment sessions. In quantitative analysis using Antera 3D®, mean height, vascularity, and pigmentation scores significantly improved. The difference of those values was significant until the four, eight, and two treatment sessions, respectively. Subgroup analysis according to ICS injection showed that no significantly different changes of VSS between those with ICS and those without ICS. Conclusion: In this study, we revealed that PDL was effective to reduce scar height, vascularity, and pigmentation in the patients with thyroidectomy hypertrophic scar, and we also suggested cost-effective treatment plan of PDL.

Comprehensive analysis of time- and dose-dependent patterns of gene expression in a human mesenchymal stem cell line exposed to low-dose ionizing radiation.

        Jin, Young-Woo,Na, Young-Ji,Lee, Young-Ju,An, Sungkwan,Lee, Jung Eun,Jung, Meeseon,Kim, Heesun,Nam, Seon Young,Kim, Cha Soon,Yang, Kwang Hee,Kim, Seung Up,Kim, Woo Kyung,Park, Woong-Yang,Yoo, Keun-You National Hellenic Research Foundation 2008 ONCOLOGY REPORTS Vol.19 No.1

We focused on the transcriptional responses induced by low and very low doses of ionizing radiation with time effect. Regardless of their importance only a few limited studies have been done. Here we applied a large-scale gene transcript profile to elucidate the genes and biological pathways. Immortalized human mesenchymal stem cells were irradiated with 0.01, 0.05, 0.2 and 1 Gy of gamma radiation and total RNA was extracted from each cell line at 1, 4, 12 and 48 h after exposure. The essential transcriptional responses were identified according to dose and time. A total of 6,016 genes showed altered expression patterns at more than one time point or dose level among the investigated 10,800 genes. Genes that showed dose-dependent expression responses were involved in signal transduction, regulation of transcription, proteolysis, peptidolysis and metabolism. Those that showed time-dependent responses were divided into two distinct groups: the up-and-down group was associated with 'cellular defense mechanisms' such as apoptosis, cell adhesion, stress response and immune response and the down-and-up group with 'fundamental cellular processes' such as DNA replication, mitosis, RNA splicing, DNA repair and translation initiation. Genes showing both dose-and time-dependent responses exhibited a mixture of both features. A highly non-linear relationship between the IR dose and the transcriptional relative response was obtained from the dose-dependent group. The time-dependent group also exhibited a non-linear relationship as the complex effect group did. Some of the early-reactive-phase (1-4 h) genes showed a differential expression response to 0.01, 0.05 and 0.2 Gy but were unresponsive to 1 Gy. Some of the late-recovery-phase (12-48 h) genes showed a differential expression to 1 Gy but were relatively unresponsive to other doses. We further characterized the gene expression patterns that could be implicated in the molecular mechanism of the cellular responses to low and very low-dose irradiation.

      • A development of map building system with sensor fusion localization

Woong Keun Hyun,Hyun Sung Choi,Jea Gyun Lim,Jong Jin You 대한전자공학회 2007 ITC-CSCC :International Technical Conference on Ci Vol.2007 No.7

This paper represents a map building system of Embedded Linux mobile robot. In this paper we proposed a multiple sensor system for SLAM. For this, we developed a sensor based navigation algorithm and grid based map building algorithm under the Embedded Linux O.S. A wall following decision engine like an expert system was proposed for map building navigation. Generally, while the robot is navigating the environment for map building position is estimated by odometry. However the position estimation using encoder data is not accurate owing to slipping. To solve this problem we proposed a sensor fusion method using encoder and electrical compass. We proved this system’s validity through field test.
