Objectives : In this study, the authors evaluated the correlation between eurocognitive impairments and serum lipids levels among Korean elderly over the age of 65. Methods : A total of 609 elderly individuals participated in this study. Screening for cognitive impairments were carried out using the Mini-Mental Status Examination-Korean version (MMSE-KC). There were 197 subjects above 1.5SD Of MMSE- KC and they were evaluated using the Korean versions of the Consortium to Establish a Registry for Alzheimer's Disease (AD) (CERAD-KC) and Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS-K). Results : There was a correlation between old age/low levels of education and AD (p<0.05, P<0.01). There was an inverse correlation between the serum level of total cholesterol and the word list recognition test scores. The serum levels of LDL cholesterol were inversely correlated with the scores on the constructional praxis test, word list recall test and word list recognition test. Inverse correlations between the serum level of triglyceride and scores on the word list recall test and word list recognition test were also observed. Conclusion : There were inverse correlations between the serum levels of lipids and language/memory function in subjects with AD.
돼지의 經濟形質에 미치는 品種과 檢定時期間 相互作用의 效果

1984年 7月부터 1990年 9月까지 공인 種豚 能力檢定所에서 能力檢定된 Yokshire種, Landrace種 및 Duroc種 수퇘지 5,604頭에 대한 資料에 근거하여 品種과 檢定開始 時期間 相互作用이 돼지의 日當 增體量, 飼料要求率 및 등脂肪 두께에 미치는 效果를 추정하였으며 資料의 統計分析에는 最小自乘法을 이용하였다. 品種과 檢定開始 時期間 相互作用의 效果는 飼料要求率과 등脂肪 두께에 대하여 統計的 유의성이 있었으나 日當 增體量에 대하여는 유의성이 없었다. 세 品種間 飼料要求率의 차이는 5-6月 및 7-8月에 檢定이 開始된 돼지에 비하여 1-2月에 檢定이 開始된 돼지에서 작게 추정되었다. Duroc種의 등脂肪 두께에 대한 Yorkshire種과 Landrace種의 순위는 檢定開始 時期에 따라 다른 경향이 있었다. The effect of the interaction between breed and testing time on average daily gain, feed efficiency and backfat thickness was estimated on the basis of the record from 5604 boars of Yorkshire, Landrace and Duroc breeds performance tested at the Korea Swine Testing Station from July, 1984 to September, 1990. The data were statistically analysed by the least squares method. The effect of the interaction between breed and testing time was statistically significant for feed efficiency and backfat thickness, but was not significant for average daily gain. The differences of feed efficiency among the three breeds were smaller in the boars which started the test in January-February as compared with the boars which started the test in May-June or July-August. In all testing times, the Duroc had the thickest backfat, but the rankings of the Yorkshire and Landrace for the backfat thickness were inconsistent depending on the time when the test was started.

Identification of QTLs Associated with Cold Tolerance in Rice(O. sativa L.)

Cold tolerance at every growing stage of rice(Oryza sativa L.) is one of the main determinations for the stable growth in temperature and high elevate area. In the current study, a 181 lines of BC population derived from a cross of Gayabyeo, a Tongil type sensitive to cold and Chhamrong a tolerant to cold were evaluated for cold tolerance with cold water irrigation(17℃) at seeding stage as well as low temperature germinate at 13℃, respectively. The resulting linkage map consists of 157 marker loci, covering all of 12 rice chromosomes and spanning 910cM(Haldane function) with an average interval of 76cM between markers. Three main-effect QTLs were identified. The comparison of the OTLs identified in this cold treatments resulted in an intriquing finding that each treatments were controlled by a major QTL. The QTL qCWI-4 on chromosome 4 was found to increase its additive effect to -0.84 as the cold water irrigate stress was given. In the meanwhile, the QTL qLTG-8 was detected with a LOD score of5.54, explaining up to 13% of the phenotypic variation controlled by Gayabyeo allele. In addition, the QTL qLTGV-3, controlled by Gayabyeo allele with a LOD score of 5.19 explaining about 12.5% of the variation was also identified. These results would favor our better understanding of the genetic control of cold tolerance in rice and be important for the development of rice cultivars with a broaden climatic adaptation.

Authors were executed field trip and survey research to reflect how students to select the lodging houses. For the data analysis is used crosstab analysis (house style, reason of lodging, lodging choice motivation, street of house) with SPSS Windows 9.0 Package. Criteria for selection of Kyongju University Lodging Information System are consist of street, houses name, search in map, district, cost, members, owners of lodging houses, which are collected by field survey and survey research. Lodging Information System is to offer sustainable information on new building and to progress welfare of student.

<▼1><P>Supplemental Digital Content is available in the text</P></▼1><▼2><P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Despite therapeutic advances, the prognosis for glioblastoma (GBM) remains poor. In particular, leptomeningeal dissemination (LMD) has a dismal prognosis. The aim of this study was to identify tumor molecular phenotype, which has a great propensity to develop LMD. Between May 2004 and December 2012, a total of 145 GBM tumor samples were obtained from data registry. A total of 20 of the 145 patients with GBM were found to develop LMD. A specialized radiologist confirmed the diagnosis of LMD on magnetic resonance imaging. To clarify the genomic signatures in GBM with LMD, we performed integrative analysis of whole transcriptome sequencing and copy number alteration in the radiological features indicating LMD phenotypes in GBM. Eleven newly diagnosed patients with GBM with LMD had worse prognosis than those without LMD (median 5.55 vs. 12.94 months, <I>P</I> < 0.0001). Integrating analysis using gene expression based on the change of copy number revealed that SPOCK1, EHD2, SLC2A3, and ANXA11 were highly expressed with the gain of copy number, compared with the gene expression in the non-LMD group. In addition, it was demonstrated that NME2, TMEM100, and SIVA1 were downregulated with the loss of copy number. We also found that mesenchymal subtype accounted for 50% in LMD group, whereas mesenchymal subtype consisted of 29% in non-LMD group, even though there was no statistical significance (<I>P</I> = 0.06). Through this radiogenomic analysis, we suggested the possibility of finding candidate genes associated with LMD and highlighted the significance of integrating approach to clarify the molecular characteristics in LMD.</P></▼2>

Background/Aims: Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is an effective treatment for early gastric cancer (EGC) that has demonstrated a minimal risk of lymph node metastasis in retrospective studies. We sought to prospectively evaluate the short-term outcomes of ESD treatment in EGCs. Methods: A prospective multicenter cohort study of neoplasms 3 cm or less in diameter at endoscopic size evaluation was performed in 12 Korean ESD study grouprelated university hospitals and the National Cancer Center. Resected specimens were evaluated by the central pathologic review board. Results: A patient cohort (n=712) with a total of 737 EGCs was analyzed. The margin-free en bloc resection rate was 97.3%, and curative resection of 640 lesions (86.8%) was achieved. Lower curative resection rates were associated with lesions 2 to 3 cm in size prior to ESD compared with lesions 2 cm or less in size (78.6% vs 88.1%, respectively, p=0.009). Significant factors associated with noncurative resection were moderately or poorly differentiated histological type, posterior wall tumor location, tumor size larger than 3 cm, ulceration, and submucosal invasion. Delayed bleeding occurred in 49 patients (6.9%), and 12 patients (1.7%) exhibited perforations. Conclusions: ESD is an effective treatment with a high curative resection rate for EGCs that meets relatively conservative pre-ESD indications. Long-term survival outcomes should be evaluated in followup studies. (Gut Liver 2016;10:739-748)
Development of Allele Specific SNP Marker for RTSV Resistance Gene at the tsv1 Locus

The application of molecular markers in rice breeding can allow the rapid screening in the early growth stages without phenotype screening. We developed a set of resistance and susceptible-allele specific dominant markers based on SNP of eIF4G gene associated with rice tungro spherical virus (RTSV) resistance through the allele-specific PCR procedure. The allele-specific SNP marker set was tested in F2 population derived from the cross between Unkwang and TW16-1120 and co-segregated with phenotypic data of RTSV resistance screening. This demonstrated that the SNP-specific markers of eIF4G gene can be applied for marker-assisted selection of RTSV resistance.
