        The expression patterns of RANKL and OPG in murine tooth eruption

        치아의 맹출은 치아기 (dental organ)와 치조골의 세포와 연관된 매우 복잡한 과정이다. 우선 치아 맹출이 일어나기 전에 파골세포가 치낭으로 집결하게 된다. 이러한 치낭의 역할은 파골세포와 조골세포의 상호작용으로 이루어 지는 골개조와 밀접한 관련이 있는데, 이는 치아 맹출과 연관된 많은 유전자들이 치낭에서 발현되기 때문이다. RANKL는 TNF ligand family로써 조골세포에 존재하며 파골세포의 형성 및 전구세포로 부터의 활성화를 유도한다. 이러한 RANKL은 OPG에 의해 그 작용이 억제되며 RANKL와 OPG의 상대적인 비율이 파골세포의 형성에 영향을 미친다. 또한 Runx2유전자의 변이는 조골세포의 분화와 활성에 차질을 가져오고 결국 RANKL/OPG pathway를 통해 파골세포 형성에 영향을 줄 수 있다. 치아의 발육 및 맹출에 미치는 RANKL 및 OPG의 영향을 알아보고 Runx2와의 연관성을 알아보기 위해 in situ hybridization 방법으로 태생 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11일된 쥐의 하악 및 제1대구치를 사용하여 실험을 실시한 결과 RANKL, OPG, Runx2의 mRNA가 태생 1일부터 11일까지 치낭 및 치아주위조직에 특성있게 나타났다. 이중 태생 5일에서 9일 사이에 RANKL 및 Runx2는 치아의 교합면측과 하방 치조골 부위의 발현이 강하게 나타난 반면 OPG는 약한 발현을 보였다. 이는 또한 파골세포의 활성부위를 알아보기 위해 TRAP염색을 실시하여 태생 5일에서 9일 사이에 최대의 활성화를 나타낸 결과와 연광성 있게 나타났다. RANKL, OPG, Runx2의 특성있는 발현양상들을 종합해 볼 때, 치아 맹출은 치낭, 치아기, 치조골 사이의 상호 작용을 통해 이루어 지며, 이는 치낭이 치아 맹출에 있어서 매우 중요하다는 것을 의미한다. 또한, 이러한 유전자들 (RANKL, OPG, Runx2) 이 치아의 맹출에 중요한 역할을 하는 것으로 사료된다. Tooth eruption is a complex and tightly regulated process that involves cells of the tooth organ and the surrounding alveolus. Osteoclast precursors must be recruited into the dental follicle prior to the onset of eruption. This function of dental follicle may be regarded as the ability of bone remodeling characterized by the interaction of osteoclasts and osteoblasts. This is because tooth eruption is a localized event in which many of the genes required for eruption are expressed in the dental follicle. RANKL is a membrane-bound protein that is a member of the TNF ligand family, which is present on bone marrow stromal cells and osteoblasts, and induces osteoclast formation and activation from precursor cell. The biologic effect of RANKL is inhibited by OPG and, in bone, the relative ratio of RANKL and OPG modulates osteoclastogenesis. To evaluate the roles of RANKL and OPG in tooth eruption and the relations with the expression pattern of Runx2, in situ hybridization was performed with mandibles of mice at postnatal stage 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11. mRNA of RANKL, OPG, and Runx2 are expressed in dental follicle and surrounding tissue from P1 to 11. To determine the sites of osteoclastic activity duing tooth eruption, mandibles were dissected. Peak osteoclastic activity in alveolar bone along the occlusal and basal regions was observed from P5 to 9, with osteoclasts in these regions being large and strongly TRAP-positive. The specific spatic-temporal expression patterns of RANKL, OPG and Runx2 in our study suggest that tooth eruption could be progressed through the interactions of molecular signaling among dental follicle, dental organ and alveolar bone, furthermore it means that dental follicle is quite important in tooth eruption. In addition, it indicates that these genes (RANKL, OPG, and Runx2) play critical roles in tooth eruption.

        The purpose of this study was to find out communication pattern and marital satisfaction in married women. The 136 participants in the sample were married women in Jinju City. Married women answered the questions about their communication pattern and marital satisfaction. Frequency analysis and ANOVA were used for data analysis in SPSS Win. The results were as follows : (1) Married women showed following communication pattern in order ; blaming pattern(27.25) > being irrelevant pattern (26.29) > super-reasonable pattern(24.01) > placating pattern(21.77) > congruent pattern(21.59). (2) According to women's age, married women showed positive degree about their communication pattern(blaming pattern, being irrelevant pattern, congruent pattern). (3) According to women's job, married women showed positive degree about their communication pattern( super-reasonable pattern). (4) According to husband's job, married women showed positive degree about their communication pattern(blaming pattern, being irrelevant pattern). (5) According to marital maintaining years, married women showed positive degree about their communication pattern(placating pattern, blaming pattern, being irrelevant pattern). (6) According to women's age, married women in their twenties, showed more healthy degree about their marital satisfaction.

        이중혈류유발 심폐소생술이 심정지를 유발한 개의 단기 생존율에 미치는 영향

        Background and Objectives: We previously reported that, compared with standard cardiopulmonary resuscitation(S-CPR), better hemodynamic effects could be achieved by simultaneous sterno-thoracic cardiopulmonary resuscitation(SST-CPR) in which we compressed the sternum and constricted the thorax circumferentially during the systolic period by using a device. This study was designed to assess whether SST-CPR, compared with S-CPR, improve the survival rate of dogs with cardiac arrest. Subjects and methods: Twenty-five mongrel dogs(19∼31㎏) were enrolled in this study. After four minutes of ventricular fibrillation induced by an AC current, animals were randomized to resuscitate with either S-CPR(n=13) or SST-CPR(n=12). Epinephrine(1 ㎎) was injected into the right atrium every three minutes after the beginning of CPR. Defibrillation was attempted after 6 minutes of CPR. Standard advanced cardiac life support was started if defibrillation was not successful. Results: SST-CPR resulted in significantly(p<0.001) higher systolic arterial pressure(91±47 vs 47±24 ㎜ Hg), diastolic pressure(43±24 vs 17±10 ㎜ Hg), coronary perfusion pressure(35±25 vs 13±9㎜ Hg), and end tidal CO2 tension(9±4 vs 3±2 ㎜ Hg). Two of 13 animals(15 %) resuscitated with S-CPR and six of 12 animals(50%) resuscitated with SST-CPR survived until 12 hours after cardiac arrest(p<0.05). Donclusion: SST-CPR, compared with S-CPR, improves the short-term survival rate in canine cardiac arrest.

        韓國人에서 重合酵素反應으로 分析한 DXS52 遺傳座位의 遺傳的 多樣性

        The DXS52 locus was studied in a Korean population sample(n=142) for its allele and genotype frequencies and applicability to identity and paternity testing, using polymerase chain reaction with electrophoresis of PCR products and subsequent detection of allelic fragments by ethidium bromide staining. In Korean population, 15 alleles with the frequency range of 0.319-0.005 are detected in the DXS52 locus, and the highest allele frequency among them is found to be allele 1(0.319). The correlation coefficient between gene frequencies detected in female in mali is 0.9334, indicating that the gene frequency in males follows that of females in Korean population. This locus studied meets Hardy-Weinberg expectation : there is good agreement between the observed and expected values under Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. The genotypes 1-12(0.118) are mostly frequent found among the 29 genotypes detected in Korean female, but the 91 genotypes are not found. The observed heterozygosity for this locus is 0.809, while the unbiased expected estimate of heterozygosity is 0.827 calculated by the expectation of Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium(p>0.05). The power of discrimination(PD) and power of exclusion(PEX) calculated for this locus is 0.9770(97.70%) and is 0.7068(70.67%), respectively. Thus, the allelic and genotypic data estimated for DXS52 locus can be used as the database of PCR-based DNA profile to human identity testing.

        한국판 정신질환의 내재화된 낙인 척도의 신뢰도 및 타당도 연구

        Objectives : The Internalized Stigma of Mental Illness (ISMI) scale designed to measure the subjective experience of stigma with sub-scales measuring Alienation, Stereotype Endorsement. Perceived Discrimination, Stigma Resistance, and Social Withdrawal. The purpose of this study was to examine the reliability and validity of the Korean version of ISMI. Methods : The subjects were 194 schizophrenic patients and 205 peoples with depressive disorder. K-ISMI, CES-D (The Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale) and Self Esteem scale were performed. Results : Results showed that the ISMI had high internal consistence and split-half reliabilities. The internal consistency coefficients (Cronbach alpha) of each subscale ranged from .83 to .93. The validity of the ISMI was investigated by principal axis factoring analysis, yielding 5 factors of alienation, Perceived discrimination, negative stereotype, stigma resistance, devaluation and social withdrawal. 5 subscales explained 60.67% of total variance. Concurrent validity was supported by comparisons against scales measuring related constructs. As expected, the ISMI had positive correlations with CES-D, and it had negative correlation with self-esteem scale. Subsidiary analysis showed that schizophrenic patients showed higher internalized stigma than depressed patients. Conclusion : Overall, the findings support the utility of ISMl as a tool to evaluate internalized stigma of persons with mental illness. Interventions that can lessen internalized stigma may well hasten the recovery process in individuals with mental illness.

        원자력 사고 중 핵종의 건·습침적에 따른 농작물 오염 영향

        핵종의 지표 침적 모델의 고찰과 함께 방사성물질의 공기중 농도로부터 건침적 뿐 아니라 습침적에 따른 농작물 오염 영향을 분석, 고찰하였다. 이를 위해 방사성물질의 지표 침적량으로부터 농작물의 오염을 평가하는 기존 동적 섭식경로모델을 공기중 농도 또는 지표 침적량으로부터 평가할 수 있도록 개선하였다. 평가결과, 방사성물질의 지표 침적량은 습침적에 의한 영향이 건침적에 의한 영향보다 뚜렷이 높으나, 농작물의 오염정도는 핵종, 강우율 등에 따라 다르게 나타났다. 이러한 현상은 방사성물질의 지표 침적과 농작물에로의 차단중 어느 과정이 농작물 오염에 보다 지배적으로 작용하는가에 기인한다. Combined with deposition model onto the ground of radionuclides, the influence of radioactive contamination to agricultural products was analyzed due to wet deposition as well as dry deposition from radioactive air concentration during a nuclear emergency. The previous dynamic food chain model, in which initial input parameter is only radionuclide concentrations on the ground, was improved for the evaluating of radioactive contamination to agricultural products from either radionuclide concentrations in air or radionuclide concentrations on the ground. As the results, in case of deposition onto the ground, wet deposition was more dominant process than dry deposition. While the contamination levels of agricultural products were dependent on the a variety of factors such as radionuclides and rainfall rate. It means that the contamination levels of agricultural products are determined from which is more dominant process between deposition on the ground and interception onto agricultural plants.

        원전 중대사고시 피폭경로 및 핵종의 방사선 피폭에 대한 상대적 중요도 해석

        원자력발전소의 중대 사고시 대기로 방출된 방사성물질에 의해 피폭자가 사고후 일생동안 받게 될 전신 피폭선량의 핵종의 상대적 중요도를 방출점으로부터 거리에 따라 각 피폭결로에 대해 평가하였다. 방사능운과 지표에 침적된 방사성물지에 의한 외부피폭,호흡과 오염된 음식물섭취에 의한 내부피폭이 피폭경로로 고려되었다. 오염된 음식물섭취에 의한 영향은 우리나라 환경을 고려하여 개발된 동적 섭식경로모델 KORFOOD를 사용하여 침적시점과 침점후 시간에 따른 음식물내 방사성물질의 농도 변화를 고려하였다. 방출점으로부터 80 km까지 피폭선량을 평가한 결과, 오염된 음식물섭취에 의한 영향이 가장 놓았다. 핵종별 기여도는 방사능운에 의한 외부피폭과 호흡에 의한 내부피폭의 경우 I, 침적된 방사성물질에 의한 외부피폭의 경우 Cs에 의한 영향이 가장 높았다. 오염된 음식물섭취에 의한 내부피폭의 경우 Cs은 여름철 침적, Sr은 겨울철 침적에 보다 중요한 영향을 미쳤다. In the case of a severe accident of a nuclear power plant, the whole body does and the relative importance of the radionuclides during the lifetime of an exposed person were estimated for each exposure pathway with distances from the release point. The external exposure pathways due to immersion of radioactive could and deposition of radioactive materials on the ground, and the internal exposure pathways due to inhalation and ingestion of contaminated foodstuffs were estimated considering the variation of radioactive concentration in the foodstuffs according to deposition time and elapsed time after deposition using a dynamic ingestion pathway model applicable to Korean environment, named "KORFOOD". As the results up to 80 km from the release point, the effects due to ingestion of contaminated foodstuffs showed the highest contribution to total exposure does. The contribution of I isotopes was the highest in the case of the external does due to immersion of radioactive cloud and internal does due to inhalation. The contribution of Cs isotopes was highest in the case of the external does due to deposition of radioactive materials on the ground. In the case of the internal does due to ingestion of contaminated foodstuffs, Cs deposition in summer and Sr deposition in winter, respectively, were the most dominant radionuclide to whole body.

        뇌혈관질환자의 가정간호 서비스 및 진료비 분석

        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the services and cost of CVA patients in hospital-based home health care and compare the differences of home health care cost by hospital types. Methods: The subjects of this study were 5,756 home care patients with cerebrovascular disease. Data were collected by using home health care medical expense claims from 127 hospitals in 2004. Results: The home care service 'indewelling catheterization' was the highest(19.28%), and then 'nasogastric tube insertion and change(16.72%)', 'bladder irrigation(15.98)', 'wound management(simp1e dressing)(10.42%)' followed. Average home health care cost per visit was 39,943 won, and the highest 46,058 won in general hospitals and the lowest 33,922 won in tertiary hospitals, so there were statistically significant among the types of hospitals(F=1112.47, p<0.0001). Conclusions: The number of home health care patients has been rapidly growing with the increase of aged population and demand for home care services is rising. So, it could be urgent to develop a reasonable cost reimbursement system for home health services and to expend scopes of the roles of home care specialist nurses. Amid the demand of more detail understanding the present status of home care, our study can be contributed to provide fundamental information of home care in Korea.

        품종별 쌀의 이화학적 특성과 증편제조 적성과의 관계

        This study was carried out in order to investigate the processing adaptability of Jeung-pyun. We used rice materals that were developed domestically for improving the utilization of rice. Six cultivars(Ilpoombyeo, Hwasungbyeo, Dasanbyeo, Daeribbyeo 1, Hyangmibyeo 1, Hyangmibyeo 2) of rice were used for making Jeung-pyun. In physicochemical properties of rice, Hwasungbyeo had the highest amylose content(20.4%) and Hyangmibyeo 2 had the lowest one(14.9%). Lipid content was 0.23%(Daeribbyeo 1)~0.43%(Ilpoombyeo), protein content was 7.94%(Ilpoombyeo)~8.43%(Dasanbyeo), and ash content was 0.15%(Hyangmibyeo 2)~1.24%(Daeribbyeo 1). In volume and specific volume of the 3 hour fermented Jeung-pyuns, Ilpoombyeo, Hwasungbyeo, Hyangmibyeo 2 were higher, but in the 7 hour fermented Jeung-pyuns, Dasanbyeo, Daeribbyeo 1, Hyangmibyeo 1 were higher. In the sensory evaluation of the test Jeung-pyuns, the overall quality of the 3 hour fermented Jeung-pyuns was not significantly different among the rice cultivars, whereas in the 7 hour fermented Jeung-pyuns Hyangmibyeo 2 had the lowest values. When the 7 hour fermented Jeung-pyuns were stored at 20℃, the hardness and brittleness of Jeung-pyuns were respectively increased, the cohesiveness was respectively decreased. The elasticity was not significantly different among the rice cultivars with storage days, and the gumminess was significantly difference between rice cultivars, respectively increasing during storage, but Hyangmibyeo 2 was the lowest, not increased. In instrumental characteristics of Jeung-pyuns, the hardness was correlated with amylose content and the brittleness and gumminess were highly correlated with the hardness.

      • PC 기반의 플랫폼간의 상호 연동을 위한 Intelligent Mirroring

        Creating collaborative environment on heterogeneous PC-based multimedia platforms running on different operationg systems has been of great importance to allow natural interaction among remote users through interoperability. Intelligent Mirroring is incorporated into our Multimedia Distance Learning System for IBM PCs and Apple's Power Macintoshs running Windows (ver. 3.1, ver. 95) and System (ver. 7.1, ver. 7.5), respectively. Upon messages from platforms via Ethernet involved the distance learning situation, Intelligent Mirroring its functions based on system homogeniety: liasion of messages for homogeneous platforms, interpretation of events and conversion of data encoding formats for heterogeneous platforms involved in the interaction. In such a distance learning situation requiring high degree of interaction Intelligent Mirroring contributes not only to establishing function and content sharing at a fine grain level with low cost, but also to minimize traffics related to interpretation of events to be shared by platforms participating in the collaboration.
