Resin, Ag를 첨가한 YBCO 초전도체의 기계, 자기적 특성 변화

We studied the mechanical and magnetic properties of Y-Ba-Cu-O superconductor with and without resin and Ag impregnation. Bulk YBCO superconductor was manufactured with the top-seeded melt-growth method. Typical sample of 40mm X 20mm X 3mm was made and then 8 holes with 0.5mm diameter were drilled arbitrally. Epoxy resin and $AgNO_3$ were systematically added into the holes to compare the mechanical and magnetic properties of YBCO superconductor before and after reinforcement of resin and Ag. Based on the result of 3 point bending, bending strength increased with increasing amounts of resin and carbon nano-tube. However, it was found that the levitation force decreased after making hole, compared with virgin sample without hole.

We studied the trapped field properties of bulk Y-Ba-Cu-O superconductors by applying 3 T of the permanent or $Nb_3Ti$ superconducting magnet. The 28 mm circular type of YBCO bulk superconductor was prepared and then hole at the center of bulk, parallel to the c-axis, was mechanically drilled. Typical size of hole in YBCO bulk was 10 mm in diameter. In order to examine the trapped field variation in terms of different impregnated materials, a hole in YBCO bulk was filled with resin and indium respectively. The trapped field decay due to flux flow was determined in terms of time. Our preliminary result indicates the trapped field value measured on the YBCO without hole after 30 minute by applying 3 T, was 6,500 G, which is much higher than that, 4,500 G, measured on YBCO with hole. Also, we confirmed that the tendency of a trapped field decrement with time was almost the same regardless of the impregnated materials in YBCO.

In this paper, we used E-J constitutive law and H-formulation to calculate magnetic field profile, current density, and magnetization of high temperature superconductor (HTS) placed in time varying applied magnetic field. Finite element method (FEM)-based software, Comsol Multiphysics 3.5a, was employed to simulate 2-dimensional model of a superconducting thin strip. The numerical results based on Kim's critical state model were compared with the case of strip in a perpendicular field in the Brandt's paper as well as experimental data observed by Scanning Hall Probe and SQUID.

For designing high Tc superconductor journal bearing(HTSJB) which is used on a flywheel energy storage system which requests the free of the bearing loss caused by the friction, it is necessary to understand the basic characteristics of the classical superconductor journal bearing because the mechanical characteristics of the HTSJB are identified by the magnetic relationships between the permanent magnet(PM) and the high Tc superconductor(HTS). In this paper, using the method, frozen image model, the force problems between the PM and the HTS were solved and then the dynamic characteristics of the rotor inside of the HTSJB can be expected in advance by using the basic characteristics between the PM and the HTS. The coefficient of friction of the HTSJB was measured in the vacuum environment. From the results, the mechanical characteristics of HTSJB can be identified using the numerical models.
