Abstract: In this paper, the soft magnetic properties and compaction density of Fe-Si-B-Nb-Cu nanocrystalline powder cores, mixed with two kinds of permalloy powders (Ni<sub>70</sub>Fe<sub>30</sub> or Ni<sub>50</sub>Fe<sub>50</sub>), have been closely studied. Permalloy powders having an average diameter of 4 μm were added in the range of 5 to 15 wt%, and the powder composite was mixed with 1~2 wt% of water glass diluted with DI water. The powder cores were compacted in toroidal form at a pressure of about 35 tons, and then heat treated at 510 ~ 570 ℃ for 1 h. The magnetic properties of the soft magnetic composites (SMCs) were measured with a B-H analyzer and the microstructure was observed with FE-SEM. As a result, it was determined that the compaction density of the powder core increased with the increasing content of the mixed permalloy powder, which distinctly improved the composite`s magnetic properties, including initial permeability and core loss. Ailanthus altissima has been used to settle an upset stomach, to alleviate a fever, and as an insecticide. We reported that the water extract of A. altissima induced apoptotic cell death in HL-60 human leukemia cell line. Here, we showed the dose-dependent inhibitions of cell viability by the extract, as measured by cell morphology. The cell cycle control genes are considered to play important roles in tumorigenesis. The purpose of the present study is also to investigate the effect of A. altissima on cell cycle progression and its molecular mechanism in the cells. The level of p21 protein was increased after treatment of the extract, whereas both Bcl-2 and Bax protein levels were not changed. These results suggest that A. altissima induces apoptotic cell death via p21-dependent signaling pathway in HL-60 human leukemia cell line which delete wild type p53. G1 checkpoin related gene products tested (cyclin D3, cyclin dependent kinase 4, retinoblastoma, E2F1) were decreased in their protein levels in a dose-dependent manner after treatment of the extract. Taken together, these results indicate that the increase of apoptotic cell death by A. altissima may be due to the inhibition of cell cycle in HL-60 human leukemia cell line

At once Medicine of East and West have the same purpose in treating, but there is a difference between the method of medical care and the view/slant on a disease each other. And so it is very important to understand Oriental medicine and Western counterpart, in addition it is meaningful to understand the terminology of Oriental medicine from the slant of Western Medicine. The conception of the Activation of Blood and the Elimination of Blood Stasis (活血化瘀) from Western medical standpoint is rather hard to explain. But It can be explained to clear such abnormal matter in blood as blood depletion of the blood to quicken the blood, but it is widely known to us this conception is too complicated to explain. Accordingly I would like to begin with a survey of Blood-quickening stasis dispelling, a prescription of the herbal formulas in Oriental midical view, and help aim at enlarging the range of our knowledge via theoretical explanation how to make understand it in the viewpoint of Western medicine.
Xanthine Oxidase와 Hypoxanthine이 배양 슈반세포에 미치는 세포독성에 대한 천마의 영향

In order to evaluate the toxic mechanism of cytotoxic effect of oxygen radicals on cultured mouse Schwann cells, the neurotoxicity induced by xanthine oxidase(XO) and hypoxanthine(HX) was evaluated by NR assay. The neuroprotective effect of Rhizoma Gastrodiae(RG) against XO/HX-induced neurotoxicity was also examined in these cultures. The results were as follows: 1. The value of NR50 of XO/HX by NR assay was estimated at a concentration of 25mU/ml XO/0.1 mM HX in these cultures. 2. Cell viability of cultured mouse Schwann cells by NR assay was remarkably decreased by XO/HX-induced neurotoxicity in a dose-and time-dependent manner. 3. RG was remarkably elective in blocking the neurotoxicity induced by XO/HX at a concentration of 100 μg/ml as determined by NR assay. From above the results, it is suggested that XO/HX induces neurotoxicity, and the selective extract, RG was very effective in blocking XO/HX-induced neurotoxicity on cultured mouse Schwann cells.
