The performance of two vertical-blade eliminators (V1, V2) and two horizontal-blade ones (H1, H2) for absorption chillers were tested in terms of pressure drop and refrigerant entrainment. The test was carried out using a wind tunnel with a cross section of 300 mm$\times$300 mm. The pressure drop of four eliminators tested was found to be in the rage of 1.0~2.7mm $H_2O$ at the face velocity of 2m/s. In the refrigerant entrainment test the vertical-blade eliminators showed much better performance than the horizontal-blade ones. The horizontal-blade eliminators showed satisfactory results at the air velocity of 2m/s but exceeded the limit value at 3 m/s. Since the cooling capacity of a machine is lowered by about 2.5% at the pressure drop of 1 m $H_2O$, more researches are required to reduce the pressure drop in the eliminator.

Experiment on the modal balancing of a flexible rotor supported on two kinds of fluid film bearings is performed to verify the modal balancing theory. The fluid film bearings are a tilting pad bearing and a two axial grooved journal bearing. One is inherently stable, but the other is not. The experimental result shows that the modal balancing method is effective for balancing of a high speed flexible rotor system. Besides, the critical speeds and mode shapes measured experimentally are in good coincidence with the results of rotordynamic analysis. Oil whip, which is the instability phenomenon due to fluid film force, is also observed during the experiment.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine the diagnostic accuracy and effectiveness of transvaginal ultrasonography (TVUS) performed by emergency physicians (EPs’) in the emergency department. Methods: In this study, female patients with lower abdominal pain who had risks for obstetric and gynecologic diseases were assessed. The accuracy and effectiveness of TVUS performed by emergency physicians was determined by comparing EPs’ interpretations of TVUS with the interpretations of TVUS by OGs CT findings, and surgical pathologic results. Results: Forty-one patients were included in the study. The diagnosis was changed in 48.8% of the patients after the TVUS had been performed by an EPs’. When the accuracy of diagnosis was compared pre- and post-TVUS, the accuracy of post-TVUS (80.5%) was higher than the pre-TVUS (39.0%). The agreement between the sonographic findings of EPs’ and OGs’ was substantial (accuracy=81.3~93.8%; κ=0.611~0.811; p<0.05). The accuracy of TVUS performed by EPs’ in obstetric and gynecologic diseases was 90.6%. The sensitivity and specificity were 100% and 90.9%, respectively, and the positive and negative predictive values were 96.8% and 100%, respectively. Conclusion: TVUS performed by EPs’ is of considerable help in establishing the correct diagnosis with a high degree of accuracy.

삼중효용 흡수식 냉동기의 기본 원리, 사이를 구성 방법 및 특성, 제품 개발을 위한 핵심 기술에 대하여 알아본다. 현재 널리 사용되는 흡수식 냉동기는 대부분이 이중효용(double effect) 기기이며 그 동안의 많은 기술 축척과 연구개발의 결과, 성능이 향상되어 최근 일본에서 출시되는 신제품은 냉방 COP가 약 1.3을 넘어서고 있다. 그러나 이중효용 흡수식 냉동기로서는 도달 가능한 COP에 한계가 있기 때문에 2-3년 전부터 삼중효용 흡수식 냉동기에 대한 연구가 일본 등에서 활발히 진행되고 있다.(중략)
