Fine needle aspiration has been effectively being applided to pediatric tumors since it renders a rapid diagnosis with minimal intervention. This measure is especially required for the large pediatric mass, which needs preoperative chemotherapy or radiotherapy to shrink the tumor to an operable size. A case of neuroblastoma of mediastinum, stage IV diagnosed by CT-guided FNA is described.

Anetoderma is loose and wrinkled skin lesions that show the characteristic histopathological feature of focal loss of elastic fibers in the dermis. The primary type of anetoderma arises in clinically normal skin and the secondary type replaces the lesions of associated disorders including various infections, infiammatory diseases and tumors. However, anetoderma due to pilomatricoma is very rare. Our patient, a 21-year-old female, presented with a soft and wrinkled skin overlying a firm, pedunculated tumor on her left upper arm. The histopathological examination showed anetodermic cutaneous changes which were associated with the underlying pilomatricoma. (Korean J Dermatol 1998;36(2): 317-320)
엽채류 간이 터널 재배 시 피복자재별 미기상 환경 및 생육

‘뚝섬적축면상추’, ‘잔치열무’, ‘다조은엇갈이배추’에 대한 본포 재배기간 동안 터널 막덮기재배에 있어서 막덮기 자재 종류간에 터널 내 기상, 생육 및 해충 발생에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 피복자재별 투광률은 무피복(100%)에 비해 네트류가 90% 정도를 보였으며, 부직포는 83~89%로 다소 낮았다. 평균기온과 지온은 무피복에 비해 네트와 한랭사 피복에서 0.3~1℃, 부직포는 0.5~3℃ 상승하였다. 그러나 상대습도는 처리 간에 차이가 없었다. 열무, 엇갈이배추, 상추 모두 무피복에 비해 부직포 막덮기에서 생육이 촉진되었는데, 상추는 81%, 열무는 58%, 엇갈이배추는 93% 정도의 증수 효과가 있었다. 특히 부직포 피복에 의해 해충의 피해가 크게 경감되었다. This study was carried out to evaluate the effects of row cover materials supported by flexible FRP frames with three kinds of non-woven fabric, and five kinds of net in leaf vegetable cultivation. Leaf radish (Raphanus sativus L.), Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa L. ssp. pekinensis) were sown on May 21, 2003, and leaf lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) was planted at the same date in Agricultural Research Center for Climate Change, Jeju, Korea. Net coverings showed higher light transmittance than in non-woven fabric coverings. The average air and soil temperatures increased by 0.3~1.0℃ in net coverings and 0.5~3.0℃ in non-woven fabric coverings, respectively. There was no difference in relative humidity among the covering materials. All the vegetables showed higher growths and yields in non-woven coverings than in non-covering. The yields increased 81% in leaf lettuce, 58% in leaf radish, and 93% in Chinese cabbage, respectively. In addition, the insect damages were considerably reduced in the row covering plots than in the control, especially in non-woven fabric coverings.

유골 골종은 특징적인 방사선학적 소견과 임상양상으로 비교적 진단이 용이하나, 임상적 소견 및 방사선학적 검사상 아급성 경화성 골수염과 유사한 소견을 보여 진단이 지연되었던 경골근위부에 발생한 2개의 핵을 가진 유골 골종 1예를 경험하였기에 문헌고찰과 함께 보고 하고자 한다. The typical radiologic findings of a small radiolucent nidus with surrounding sclerosis and night pain responding to aspirin make the diagnosis of osteoid osteoma not too difficult. We report a case of multicentric osteoid osteoma with unusual clinical and imaging features which were strongly suggestive of subacute sclerosing osteomyelitis.

저자들은 설사와 우복부통증 및 체중감소의 증상을 보인 11세 남아에서 말초혈액의 호산구수 증가와 IgE가 정상범위이며 대장내시경하에 채취한 S자결장 생검조직에서 특징적인 호산구침윤 소견이 관찰되어 비 IgE 매개성 호산구성 대장염으로 진단된 1례를 경험하였으며 부신피질 호르몬 투여로 증상 호전을 보여 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. Eosinophilic gastroenteritis, which shows characteristic eosinophilic inflammation, involves any part of the intestine from esophagus to colon. The immunopathogenesis is expected to be associated with IgE-mediated or non-IgE-mediated reaction, but the precise mechanism is not revealed yet. The clinical manifestation is variably dependent on the extent of eosinophilic infiltration. Usually the symptoms, such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, wax and wane for a few months result in failure to thrive, which implicates the importance of early detection. Although the diagnosis is made through clinical and histopathologic evidences, we should suspect the illness in a case of anemia, hypoalbuminemia, and peripheral eosinophilia. Recently, we experienced a case of non-IgE-mediated eosinophilic colitis in a 11-year-old male who complained of diarrhea, right lower abdominal pain, body weight loss, was diagnosed with peculiar histopathologic finding of sigmoid colon specimens obtained by sigmoidoscopy.

Malignant mixed miillerian tumor (MMMT) was one of the rare uterine sarcoma. This tumor is composed of sarcoma and carcinoma. Primary MMMT in the peritoneum is among the rarest sites for MMMT. MMMT is highly malignant and the prognosis is grave due to frequent recurrence and metastasis. In the world literature, only 22 cases with primary MMMT of the peritoneum have been reported and most of these were single report. We report one case of primary MMMT in the peritoneum with a brief review.
Pulsed Nd:YAG 레이저 조사와 불소화합물 도포가 치아 내산성에 미치는 영향

This study was designed to determine the most effective concentration of fluoride and levels of laser irradiation for the remineralization of decayed teeth. After irradiation with a pulsed Nd : YAG laser and the topical application of fluoride, phosphate and fluoride concentration in enamel were measured. And then the changes on surface enamel using an scanning electron microscope were observed. Samples by extracting healthy, permanent, mandibular bovine teeth with no caries were obtained. Among them 371 healthy samples were selected and artificial carious lesions were made. 20 samples were assigned to each experimental group. After irradiations with a pulsed Nd : YAG laser with total energy densities of 10J/㎠, 20J/㎠ and 30J/㎠ for each group. On the teeth, 2% NaF, 1.9% NH_4F, 1.6% TiF_4. Elmex gel(amine fluoride) and 1.23% APF gel were applied. After pH circulatory procedures, concentrations of fluoride with an Ionalyzer (Orion Research. Model 901, U.S.A.) and phosphates with a UV/Vis spectrophotometer (Uvikon 860, Kontron Co., Switzerland) were measured. By etching the teech in layers and measuring fluoride concentrations, a profile of fluoride penetration according to depth could be developed. And also the changes on the surface of the enamel using an electron scanning microscope were observed. The comparative analysis yielded the following results; 1. Phosphate concentration was low in all groups compared with the control group except for teeth treated Elmex gel, irradiated with 10J/㎠ and 30J/㎠ energy densities. Teeth treated with APF gel and 30J/㎠ irradiation had the lowest phosphate concentration. 2. Among all groups, fluoride concentrations in tooth enamel were highest in APF gel and NaF groups irradiated at 30J/㎠. The APF gel group had the highest fluoride concentrations across all energy densities. 3. In the APF gel group, and the NaF group, the greater the energy density of the laser, the higher the fluoride concentration in the enamel. 4. In all groups, the concentration of fluoride in the enamel by depth tended to decrease with depth. 5. Under the scanning electron microscope, under the condition of irradiation with 20J/㎠, enamel crack was detected for the first time. In the NH_4F group, spherical deposits were found on the surface of the enamel, and in the TiF_4 group the surface of enamel was covered with an irregular, thin membranous mass in places. In the APF gel and NaF groups irradiated with 10J/㎠, spherical and irregular particles covered the teeth. When these groups were irradiated at 20J/㎠, they were covered with amorphous crystals. These results suggest that one could obtain more effective anticariogenic effects without damage to teeth when less than 20J/㎠ energy densities and APF gel are used.
