An anorectal foreign body can cause serious complications such as incontinence, rectal perforation, peritonitis, or pelvic abscess, so it should be managed immediately. We experienced two cases of operative treatment for a self-inserted anorectal foreign body. In one, the foreign body could not be removed as it was completely impacted in the anal canal. We failed to remove it through the anus. A laparotomy and removal of the foreign body was performed by using an incision on the rectum. Primary colsure and a sigmoid loop colostomy were done. A colostomy take-down was done after three months. The other was a rectal perforation from anal masturbation with a plastic device. We performed primary repair of the perforated rectosigmoid colon, and we didea sigmoid loop colostom. A colostomy take-down was done three months later. Immediate and proper treatment for a self-inserted anorectal foreign body is important to prevent severe complications,and we report successful surgical treatments for problems caused by anorectal foreign bodies.

Little human tissue data are available for slow waves and migrating motor complexes, which are the main components of small bowel motility. We investigated the electrophysiological and mechanical characteristics of human ileal motility, in vitro. Ileum was obtained from patients undergoing bowel resection. Electrophysiological microelectrode recordings for membrane potential changes and mechanical tension recordings for contraction from smooth muscle strips and ileal segments were performed. Drugs affecting the enteric nervous system were applied to measure the changes in activity. Slow waves were detected with a frequency of 9∼10/min. There were no cross-sectional differences in resting membrane potential (RMP), amplitude or frequency between outer and inner circular muscle (CM), suggesting that electrical activities could be effectively transmitted from outer to inner CM. The presence of the interstitial cell of Cajal (ICC) at the linia septa was verified by immunohistochemistry. Contractions of strips and segments occurred at a frequency of 3∼ 4/min and 1∼ 2/min, respectively. The frequency, amplitude and area under the curve were similar between CM and LM. In segments, contractions of CM were associated with LM, but propagation varied with antegrade and retrograde directions. Atropine, NW-oxide-L-arginine, and sodium nitroprusside exhibited different effects on RMP and contractions. There were no cross-sectional differences with regard to the characteristics of slow waves in CM. The frequency of contractions in smooth muscle strips and ileal segments was lower than slow waves. The directions of propagation were diverse, indicating both mixing and transport functions of the ileum.
국내·외 NORM 취급 산업 규제 기준 및 방사선학적 특성 분석

International organizations such as IAEA and EC recommend graded approach by identifying NORMindustries requiring radiation protection. In Korea, single regulation rather than graded regulation for NORM industryis applied. Therefore, it consumes more manpower and costs than necessary for both regulators and workers, and isnot optimized. The purpose of this study is to analyze domestic and foreign NORM industry regulatory standards andradiological characteristics for graded approach of NORM industry in Korea. Safety reports and publications such asSRS 49 and ICRP 142 published by international organizations were investigated, and domestic and foreign NORMregulatory guidelines and legislation such as Health Canada and the Act on Protective Action Guidelines AgainstRadiation in the Natural Environment were investigated to indicate NORM industries and regulatory standards. The radioactivity concentration of raw materials or by-products, radiation dose by industrial process of the NORMindustry identified in IAEA and Korea were investigated. Nine NORM industries in Korea were identified based onthe NORM industry from IAEA and KINS survey report. Foreign countries such as Canada, UK and Denmark wereexecuting graded approach such as classification of dose level or licensing, registration, notification based on safetyassessment. Radioactivity concentration of domestic and foreign NORM industries were widespread up to 200 Bq g-1or higher based on industrial process and work type, and numerous NORM industries that exceeded radiation doseof 1 mSv y-1were indicated. Therefore, it is necessary to consider handling materials and work types of identifiedNORM industry when establishing graded approach for NORM industry in Korea considering domestic situation. The results of this study are expected to be used as basic data for developing methodology of graded approach forNORM industry in Korea.

본 연구에서는 해외여행 중에 발생할 수 있는 또한 발생하였던 각종 사건사고를 사례분석하고 해외여행에 필요한 교육내용을 체계적으로 분석하겠다. 본 연구내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 해외여행시 발생한 각종 사건사고들을 인터넷 뉴스 및 통계자료를 찾아 분석하고 우리나라의 해외 여행 안전 교육 지도서에 나와있는 교육방법에 맞게 대처 되었는지를 또한 어떠한 점이 부족 하였는지를 분 석한다. 둘째, 해외여행 안전교육 개념을 위해 외교통상부와 한국관광공사에서 발간한 대륙별 안전여행 가이드와 외교부 해외안전여행 사이트, 국민안전처에서 발간한 해외여행 안전 교육 지도서를 기초근거로 하여 해외여 행자 학습요소를 체계적으로 분석한다.
The Effects of Eupatilin (StillenⓇ) on Motility of Human Lower Gastrointestinal Tracts

Gastrointestinal motility consists of phasic slow-wave contractions and the migrating motor complex(MMC). Eupatilin (StillenⓇ) has been widely used to treat gastritis and peptic ulcers, and variouscytokines and neuropeptides are thought to be involved, which can affect gastrointestinal motility. Weperformed a study to identify the effects of eupatilin on lower gastrointestinal motility withelectromechanical recordings of smooth muscles in the human ileum and colon. Ileum and colonsamples were obtained from patients undergoing bowel resection. The tissues were immediately storedin oxygenated Krebs-Ringer's bicarbonate solution, and conventional microelectrode recordings frommuscle cells and tension recordings from muscle strips and ileal or colonic segments were performed. Eupatilin was perfused into the tissue chamber, and changes in membrane potentials and contractionswere measured. Hyperpolarization of resting membrane potential (RMP) was observed after administrationof eupatilin. The amplitude, AUC, and frequency of tension recordings from circular andlongitudinal smooth muscle strips and bowel segments of the ileum and colon were significantlydecreased after admission of eupatilin. Eupatilin elicited dose-dependent decreases during segmentaltension recordings. In conclusion, eupatilin (StillenⓇ) showed inhibitory effects on the human ileumand colon. We propose that this drug may be useful for treating diseases that increase bowel motility,but further studies are necessary.
