Caryl Churchill is currently one of the most influential and innovative writers of English and American drama. In particular, Churchill has played an important role in the development of women’s theater. In a series of works since the twentieth century, Churchill deals with changes in life, which are directly affected by genetic engineering. In A Number, she creates an innovative family relationship through cloning, instead of a conventional nuclear family of patriarchal structure. The studies on this work have been centered on the ethical problems of cloning and the confusion of individual identities. However, this study analyzes the problems of family members in A Number; a father-son relationship, brotherhood and marital relationships. Also, it explores how the new type of family relationship affects each member. Highlighting that the reproduction through cloning is a kind of control over women, it examines that the absence of women in the family relationship rather emphasizes the importance of women. .

David Mamet is a powerful writer, generally accepted as one of the most important playwrights of his time. Mamet continues to be identified through his distinctive use of language. It not only differentiates his work, but is also a central vehicle for exploring characters, stories and meanings. He believes in the importance and the power of dramatic language, which results in him being considered a ‘dramatic poet.’ Mamet creates reality by filling his works with various linguistic strategies. In the new reality, the characters want to control their opponents through their own language. This study aims to examine the characteristics and roles of dramatic language used by David Mamet. Also, this study investigates the linguistic strategies in The Speed-the-Plow, and analyzes how these strategies affect the behavior of the characters through meticulous analysis of the text. The characters only use language for their cunning purposes. They use strategies such as ‘naming’ and ‘lying’ when the reality is disadvantageous and interferes with achieving their goals, creating a new reality to help their situation. Finally, this study emphasizes that Mamet’s works provide truth through the characters’ fake realities.

An Ever-Changing Drama Laboratory: Caryl Churchill’s Love and Information

Having staged the trend of the times quickly, Caryl Churchill thoroughly explores an era of being bombarded with information in Love and Information. The story portrays modern people who face the heavy burden of information. The work consists of seven sections, seven scenes in each of the first six sections with a title, and eight scenes in the seventh section. The sections should be performed in order, but the scenes within one section can be performed in accordance with the principles of the director. Furthermore, there are no specific directions to the frame of each scene and the lines are not allocated to any character. Due to the characteristic of such an indeterminable text, Love and Information create a completely different play in each performance where a playwright, a director and actors should collaborate base on the common creativity. This paper includes three main ideas. First, this paper explores what Churchill intends to convey through several representative scenes in the text of Love and Information, and the effects of the indefinite text on readers. Second, according to the New York Theatre Workshop production in 2014, it analyzes the changes and effects when such text is performed. Finally, it reveals a messages that Churchill tries to give the audience with this indeterminable script and performance.

This study examined the moderating role of social support in the job burnout-customer orientation relationship of service employees, 243 casino employees participated in the survey. Collected data were processed using IBM SPSS v.24, and hypotheses were tested through frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, simple regression analysis, and moderated regression analysis. The findings are as follows. First, job burnout was found to be relate negatively to customer orientation of service employees. Second, among 4 types of social support, evaluative and informative support were found to partially moderate the job burnout-customer orientation relationship. Conclusions are then presented followed by theoretical and managerial implications of the findings.

Yum, Jeongmin. “Breaking Up the Boundary of Stage: The Non-Representational Features in Krapp’s Last Tape.” Studies in English Language & Literature. 43.1 (2017): 105-124. Mimesis, the base principle of theatre since Aristotle, lost its ground in the age of modernism. Samuel Beckett, the best playwright in the twentieth century, tried to break existing theatre, subordinating representation system with Antonin Artaud and Luigi Pirandello. Throughout his writing life, Beckett searched for the possibility of non-representational theatre, rejecting realistic stage setting, conflicts among characters and logical plot. In particular, Krapp’s Last Tape was the last play that showed a leading character on the stage and was also located at the center of his change from representational play to non-representational play. Krapp’s Last Tape indicates various features defying the representational principle. This article aims to investigate the non-representational features of each dramatic element in Krapp’s Last Tape by first exploring the non-representational plot composed of the rhythm of movement and stillness. The article then analyzes the fragmented time and audiovisual images. In addition, it highlights the idea that Beckett’s non-representational play ironically represents the diversity of lives. 액체상 방류물에 의한 주민선량 평가모델 입력변수의 민감도 분석

A model for off-site radiological dose evaluation due to liquid effluents generated from the operation of nuclear facilities, which are located in inland area, was developed in consideration of Korean agricultural and environmental conditions. In addition, sensitivity analysis was performed for the improvement of the model. Using the developed model, test runs for nuclear fuel fabrication facilities were conducted. Five kinds of exposure pathways(vegetation, animal products, drinking water, fresh-water-fish, shoreline deposits) and two kinds of radionuclides(234U, 234Th) were considered. Sensitivity analysis for input parameters of the model was conducted by applying a Monte Carlo method with Latin Hypercube Sampling (LHS) technique. As the results, the ingestion of irrigated agricultural products was the highest contributor among the considered exposure pathways. Major sensitive input parameters for the results were the ratio of the interception fraction to the yield of agricultural plants and the human consumption rate.

내륙지역에 위치한 원자력시설의 운영으로 액체상 방류물에 의한 주민선량평가 프로그램 개발

우리나라의 농업, 환경적 요소를 고려하여 내륙지역에 위치한 원자력시설의 운영으로 발생되는 액체상 방류물에 의한 주민선량 평가 프로그램을 개발하였다. 이를 위해 내륙지역에 대한 적절한 피폭경로 설정 및 수학적 모델링 수립, 부지 특성 입력 변수값 설정 등 일련의 연구가 수행되었다. 개발된 프로그램에 대한 시험을 우라늄 계열 핵종을 방출하는 원전연료가공시설에 대해 적용하였다. 평가 결과, 피폭선량에 대한 기여는 하천수의 관개에 의한 농축산물 오염이 가장 높았다. 유효선량에 대한 결정 연령군은 소아, 결정 장기는 뼈로 나타났다. Child was a critical age group for effective dose, and done was a critical organ.

David Mamet is an indisputable member of the American dramatic canon. He not only still shows furious activity but also remains commercially enticing from stage to screen. In particular, Glengarry Glen Ross is his representative work that has been popular with critics and the public for both the play and the film. Unlike the play portraying the dog-eat-dog world of real estate and the ruthless salesmen, he created sympathetic characters in the film with adaptation. This paper aims to compare the play and film version of Glengarry Glen Ross. It examines the different character portraits between two versions, focusing on Levene, Blake and Rome through the use of cinematic devices and slight changes in content. In addition, it emphasizes that Mamet wants the moral recovery of the American society by describing more affectionate characters in the film than in the play.

연구논문(硏究論文) : 카지노 종사원의 혼잡지각, 직무탈진 및 고객지향성의 관계

그간 서비스 환경에 관련된 대부분의 연구들은 주로 서비스스케이프 모델에 의거 물리적 요소들이 소비자 및 종사원에 미치는 영향에 초점을 맞추고 있었다. 하지만 최근 서비스 환경에 관련된 연구들에 의하면 물질적 요소 이외에 사회적 요소를 포함시키는 이른바 확대된 서비스스케이프 모델이 제시되고 있다. 본 연구는 확대된 서비스스케이프 관점의 연구로서 사회적 요소에서 중요한 구성요소의 하나라고 할 수 있는 혼잡지각에 관련된 연구이다. 구체적으로 본 연구는 그간 상당히 제한적으로 이루어져 왔던 혼잡지각의 일선 서비스 종사원 관점의 연구로서 혼잡지각과 직무탈진 그리고 고객지향성의 관계를 규명하고자 하는 연구이다. 국내 내국인 카지노 종사원 300명을 대상으로 연구한 결과 본 연구에서 예측한 가설들은 모두 지지되는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 첫째, 종사원의 혼잡지각과 질무탈진은 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 둘째, 종사원의 직무탈진은 고객지향성에 부(-)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 규명되었다. 셋째, 종사원의 혼잡지각은 고객지향성에 부(-)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 종사원의 직무탈진은 종사원의 혼잡지각과 고객지향성의 관계를 부분적으로 매개하는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 본 연구를 통하여 종사원의 혼잡지각이 종사원의 직무탈진 및 고객지향성에 영향을 미친다는 사실을 규명함으로써 본 연구는 그간 탐색적 수준에 머무르고 있는 혼잡지각의 종사원 관점 연구들에 있어서 새로운 관점을 제시하였다고 볼 수 있다. 또한 서비스기업 경영자들에게도 혼잡이 단순히 소비자에게 한정되는 현상이 아니라 일선 서비스 종사원들에게 부정적 영향을 미치는 중요한 현상으로서 혼잡에 관련된 체계적이고 근본적인 대책이 필요하다는 것을 시사하고 있다. Previous studies on service environment have largely focused on the effects of physical elements on consumer and employee within the servicscape model, while recent studies have proposed an expanded servicescape model, which includes social elements as well as physical elements. Therefore, the current study focused on perceived crowding, one of the most important social elements of servicescape; more specifically, this study examined the relationship among perceived crowding, job burnout, and customer orientation of service employees. 237 casino employees participated in the survey and the findings are as follows. First, perceived crowding positively influenced job burnout of employees. Second, job burnout negatively influenced customer orientation. Third, perceived crowding negatively influenced customer orientation. Finally, job burnout of employees partially mediated the relationship between perceived crowding and customer orientation. The current study provides a new perspective to perceived crowding since it demonstrates that perceived crowding affected job burnout and customer orientation. Also, this study indicates that new strategies related to crowding should be developed in the service industry since the negative effects of crowding is not only limited to customers but to employees.
