Fracture Strength of Borosilicate Glass Melt Infiltrated Zirconia 3-Unit Bridge

This study examined the fracture strength of 3-unit all-ceramic zirconia bridges treated with a melt-infiltration process of borosilicate glass. The zirconia specimens were milled with presintered yttria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystal (Y-TZP) blocks. Before veneering the porcelain, borosilicate glass was infiltrated into the zirconia at 1,100oC for 1 hr. A 3-point flexural test was carried out at crosshead speed of 0.1 mm/min. The fracture surface and interface between the zirconia and veneer porcelain were observed by scanning electron microscopy. The fracture strength of the Y-TZP specimens was increased significantly by the melt-infiltration process of borosilicate glass (P < 0.05). The bond strength of the porcelain on zirconia was also improved significantly by meltinfiltration process of borosilicate glass (P < 0.05). The resistance to the initial chipping of the veneered porcelain in the 3-unit allceramic zirconia bridges was increased significantly by melt-infiltration process of borosilicate glass (P < 0.05). According to the microscopic observations of the fracture surface of porcelain, the glass-infiltrated zirconia group showed a rough fracture surface,whereas the sintered zirconia group showed a smooth fracture surface containing many pores.

SELF-SIMILAR SOLUTIONS FOR THE 2-D BURGERS SYSTEM IN INFINITE SUBSONIC CHANNELS

We establish the existence of weak solutions in an infinite subsonic channel in the self-similar plane to the two-dimensional Burgers system. We consider a boundary value problem in a fixed domain such that a part of the domain is degenerate, and the system becomes a second order elliptic equation in the channel. The problem is motivated by the study of the weak shock reflection problem and 2-D Riemann problems. The two-dimensional Burgers system is obtained through an asymptotic reduction of the 2-D full Euler equations to study weak shock reflection by a ramp.
Remarks on the Radial Solutions of the Self-Dual Abelian Chern-Simons Model

We consider the nonrelativistic limit for the radial solutions to the self-dual equations in the self-dual Abelian Chern-Simons model. We achieve the limitby fixing the comon maximum value of solutions.
Semi-hyperbolic patches arising from a transonic shock in simple waves interaction

In this paper we consider a Riemann problem, in particular, the case of the presence of the semi-hyperbolic patches arising from a transonic shock in simple waves interaction. Under this circumstance, we construct global solutions of the two-dimensional Riemann problem of the pressure gradient system. We approach the problem as a Goursat boundary value problem and a mixed initial-boundary value problem, where one of the boundaries is the transonic shock.

The purpose of the present study was to define the normal range of plasma concentration of angiotensin I-converting enzyme(ACE), N-acetyl-b-D-glucosaminidase(NAG), inactive and active renin, and atrial natriuretic peptide(ANP) in normal Korean adult male in terms of aging. Both plasma ACE activity and NAG concentration were measured by spectrofluorometry, and the plasma renin activity and ANP concentration were measured using radioimmunoassay. The ACE was 67.7+-3.6 nM His-Leu/min/ml and did not change in terms of age. The plasma NAG activity tended to decrease. Both plasma active and inactive renin activities were 2.1+-0.2 and 3.0+-0.3 ngAI/ml/h and tended to decrease in terms of aging. The percentage of inactive renin to total renin was 57.2+-2.9% at age 21-30 and also tended to decrease in terms of aging. Plasma ANP concentration at age 22 was 59.6+-2.9 pg/ml(J Kor Soc Endocrinol 9:18-24, 1994).
