Objectives:It is found that imbalance in activity-dependent neuroprotective protein(ADNP) and the homologous protein ADNP2 in schizophrenia may impact the disease progression. Yet, further research is required to clarify their connection to schizophrenia. This is a pilot study for a family-based association analysis of ADNP2 gene in a Korean population with schizophrenia. Methods:Twenty-seven probands with schizophrenia were recruited with their parents and siblings. We have used lifetime dimensions of psychosis scale for measuring psychotic features. Promising endophenotypic markers such as age at interview, apparent onset, apparent onset of psychosis, and first treatment age were also included. We analyzed 2 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of ADNP gene. Then, we performed family based association test(FBAT) and linkage disequilibrium analyses for each individual SNPs. Results:A significant SNP of ADNP2 gene in chromosome 18 (p-value<0.05) for the qualitative phenotype of schizophrenia was found (rs575682; ADNP2). The result was replicated for the quantitative phenotype of apparent onset, apparent onset of psychosis, and the first treatment age. We also found one significant SNP of ADNP2 gene in chromosome 18 (p-value<0.05) for the quantitative phenotype of any delusions. (rs575682; ADNP2) No SNPs were found for the quantitative phenotype of any hallucinations. Conclusion:Our results showed that quantitative traits such as age of onset, any delusions, and any hallucinations could be continuous with qualitative trait in schizophrenia. However, a caution must be taken in interpreting these results because there were clear limitations in FBAT analyses which included nominal number of SNPs in the small incomplete pedigrees.

This study presents the structural modelling method for the seismic behavior characteristics evaluation of flat stone bridge. To this end, we select the representative flat stone bridge according to the construction and configuration types. Also, this study provides the discrete element method for the reasonable seismic modelling of discontinuum structures.

최근 병원내의 전산화로 인하여 병원의 모든 업무는 의료정보시스템을 통하여 이루어지고 있다. 환자에 대한 진료 기록 및 각종 자료가 전산화되어 환자의 병력사항은 모두 의료정보 데이터베이스에 기록되어 관리되어지고 있다. 이러한 의료정보 시스템은 각 개발회사에 따라 또는 병원 자체적으로 개발된 시스템에 따라 비표준화된 의료정보를 각기 관리하고 있다. 이에 의료정보시스템을 통한 서로 다른 병원간의 정보공유가 원활이 이루어지지 않고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 병원간의 서로 다른 의료정보를 표준화하여 이를 웹 서비스를 이용한 통합 모듈을 제공하는 시스템을 설계하였다. 각각의 의료정보를 표준화할 수 있는 의료정보 데이터베이스를 설계하고 기존의 각 병원의 의료정보를 활용하기 위하여 데이터베이스 변환기 모듈을 제공한다. 또한, 각각의 병원별로 제안된 통합 시스템 모듈을 웹 서비스를 이용하여 사용함으로써 시간과 비용이 절감된다. 이러한 통합 의료정보를 바탕으로 병원 서로간의 정보를 공유함으로써 엽무의 효율성을 증대할 수 있다. Eosinophilic cholecystitis (EC) is a rare form of acute cholecystitis, of which diagnosis is based on classical symptoms of cholecystitis with a presence of >90% eosinophilic infiltration within the gall bladder. EC rarely manifests in idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome (IHES). Here, we report two cases of EC with IHES. One is a 57-year-old male who presented with acute right upper quadrant (RUQ) pain, jaundice and fever. The initial peripheral blood eosinophil count was 2,070/mm3, and further elevated to 12,590/mm3. Acute acalculous cholecystitis with cholangitis was confirmed by computed tomography (CT). He improved with endocopic nasobiliary drainage and antibiotic therapy. The other is a 64-year-old female who presented with acute RUQ pain. She also complained of dyspnea and tingling sensation of both hands and feet. The initial peripheral blood eosinophil count was 10,400/mm3. Abdominal CT revealed findings suggestive of acute acalculous cholecystitis. She improved with systemic glucocorticosteroid therapy. No other causes of hypereosinophilia were found in either patients. Thus, cholecystectomy may not be mandatory for the treatment of EC with IHES.
