Changes of Calbindin D-28k- and c-fos-immunoreactivities in the superior collicuclus after Eye Enucleation. Objective and methods: Calcium-binding proteins (CBPs) play an important role in the protection, differentiation and reorganization of the central nervous system. The effects of neonatal retinal deafferentation on a CBPs, calbindin D-28k were examined immunohistochemically in the superficial layer of the rat superior colliculus. Also early gene familly c-fos was examined to evaluate the neuronal characteristics in the superior colliculus after monocular enucleation. Results: On the experimental side of superior colliculus, the number of calbindin D-28k-immunoreactive (IR) cells was reduced (77.4% compared to control), but not fibers. Appearance of c-fos-like immunoreactivity was represented much more in the ipsilateral superior colliculus than contralateral side within 24h after eye enucleation. Conclusion: These results suggest that the changes of retinotectal projection may alter the expressional pattern of calbindin D-28k and c-fos expression.
Treatment with spironolactone in Becker`s nevus associated with ipsilateral breast hypoplasia

Becker nevus syndrome is the association of becker``s nevus with breast hypoplasia and other ipsilateral bone or muscle changes. It is considered to be a hormone-dependent disorder caused by a disturbance in the activity of the androgen receptor. The receptor appears to be increased in Becker``s nevus, which may influence to the development of associated lesions. Herein, we report a case of Becker nevus syndrome improved after the treatment with spironolactone. A 13-year-old girl presented with well-defined brownish patch over left breast for 8 years. In addition, she noticed hypoplasia of her ipsilateral breast (12 x 10 cm) since 10 years age. Histopathologic examinations revealed acanthosis, elongation of rete ridges in epidermis and hyperpigmentation of the basal epidermal layer. The diagnosis has been confirmed to Becker``s nevus associated with ipsilateral breast hypoplasia. The Laboratory test (CBC, electrolytes, and LH/FSH) done and showed normal range. Her hypoplastic breast was treated with spironolactone with 50mg single dosage twice daily. She experienced mild menstrual irregularity and it was improved within 1 month. The left breast had enlarged abruptly to 13 x 10.5 cm after the treatment of 19 weeks.

However, dermoscopic findings are not fully elucidated in the course of β-blocker treatment for IH. Objectives: To investigate changes of dermoscopic findings during the course of β-blocker treatment for IH. Methods: Superficial or mixed-type IH patients treated with topical timolol solution or oral propranolol were enrolled in Pusan National University Hospitals (Busan and Yangsan) from November 2011 to January 2016. Clinical photograph and dermoscopic findings were recorded and assessed at the baseline, 1, 2, 3 and 6 months. Results: Total 115 patients (male: 38 and female: 77 / superficial type: 48 and mixed type: 67 / timolol: 77 and propranolol: 38) were included. Diffuse light erythema tended to be diminished but milky-red area increased gradually during the course of treatment. The patients treated with oral propranolol showed more prominent changes on each dermoscopic findings than those treated with topical timolol (p=0.023 and p=0.018, respectively). But, other findings like red-globular vessels, red-dot vessels, red-circulated vessels, red-linear vessels did not show significant changes. Conclusion: Dissolution of diffuse light erythema and increase of milky-red area were significant dermoscopic findings in accordance with clinical improvement after β -blocker therapy for IH.
Kikuchi-Fujimoto Disease Coexistent with Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma in a Single Lymph Node

Cervical lymphadenopathy can be developed from various causes such as viral infection, bacterial infection, Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease, tuberculosis, malignancy, and reactive changes. In patients who have malignancy, metastatic lymphadenopathy is possible but it is rare that other concomitant diseases are in the same lymph node. We experienced a case of coexistence of Kikuchi necrotizing lymphadenitis and papillary thyroid carcinoma in a single cervical lymph node. A 38-year-old man who was previously diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer with cervical lymph nodes metastasis presented with cervical lymphadenopathy. The lymph node biopsy showed tuberculous lymphadenitis. After finishing anti-tuberculosis medication, recurrent lymphadenopathy had developed and a surgical biopsy was performed. At that time, the diagnosis was Kikuchi necrotizing lymphadenitis combined with metastatic papillary carcinoma in a single lymph node.

The changes in precursors of N-nitrosamines, such as choline-N, betaine-N and total creatinine-N, during the fermentation of high salt-fermented squid, Sepiell maindroni, group with 20% of salt and low salt-fermented squid group with 10% of salt, 6% of ethanol, 6% of sorbitol and 0.5% of lactic acid were investigated. During the fermentation, the contents of VBN were rapidly increased from the beginning of the fermentation until 140 days, and these contents were more in high salt groups as compared with low salt groups. The contents of choline-N were little changed until 80 days of the fermentation and slowly decreased after 80 days of the fermentation to 120 days, but the different of the contents between both salt groups were little. Betaine-N also showed the similar tendency to choline-N, but the changes in low salt groups were slowly increased and decreased as compared with these in high salt group. Total creatinine-N was slowly increased from the beginning of the fermentation until 60 days in both salt groups, but rapidly decreased after this to 120 day.

<P>Homeostatic intrinsic plasticity is a cellular mechanism for maintaining a stable neuronal activity level in response to developmental or activity-dependent changes. Type 1 metabotropic glutamate receptor (mGlu(1) receptor) has been widely known to monitor neuronal activity, which plays a role as a modulator of intrinsic and synaptic plasticity of neurons. Whether mGlu(1) receptor contributes to the compensatory adjustment of Purkinje cells (PCs), the sole output of the cerebellar cortex, in response to chronic changes in excitability remains unclear. Here, we demonstrate that the mGlu(1) receptor is involved in homeostatic intrinsic plasticity through the upregulation of the hyperpolarization-activated current (I-h) in cerebellar PCs. This plasticity was prevented by inhibiting the mGlu(1) receptor with Bay 36-7620, an mGlu(1) receptor inverse agonist, but not with CPCCOEt, a neutral antagonist. Chronic inactivation with tetrodotoxin (TTX) increased the components of I-h in the PCs, and ZD 7288, a hyperpolarization-activated cyclic nucleotide-gated channel selective inhibitor, fully restored reduction of firing rates in the deprived neurons. The homeostatic elevation of I-h was also prevented by BAY 36-7620, but not CPCCOEt. Furthermore, KT 5720, a blocker of protein kinase A (PKA), prevented the effect of TTX reducing the evoked firing rates, indicating the reduction in excitability of PCs due to PKA activation. Our study shows that both the mGlu(1) receptor and the PKA pathway are involved in the homeostatic intrinsic plasticity of PCs after chronic blockade of the network activity, which provides a novel understanding on how cerebellar PCs can preserve the homeostatic state under activity-deprived conditions.</P>

본 연구에서는 다양한 온도에서 고무재료의 경도에 대한 가교시스템의 영향에 대해 고찰하였다. 다양한 가교밀도의 시편을 얻기 위하여, NR과 SBR에 여러 가지 함량의 황 또는 peroxide를 첨가하여 가교하였다. 가교된 고무시편의 온도변화에 따른 경도변화와 가교밀도 변화를 측정하고 상호관계를 고찰하였으며, 시편에 발생하는 온도응력을 측정하여 온도변화에 따른 엔트로피의 변화를 조사하였다. 실온 이상에서 NR과 SBR 시편은 온도가 증가함에 따라 경도가 증가하였으며, 측정된 온도응력도 온도가 증가함에 따라 증가하였다. 그러나 측정조건 내에서 시편의 가교밀도 변화는 온도의 변화에 의해 거의 영향이 없었고 가교시스템에도 무관하였다. In this study, the effects of curing system on the hardness of rubber materials at various temperature were investigated. NR and SBR were compounded with various sulfur or peroxide content, in order to obtain various crosslink densities. The changes of hardness and crosslink density were measured as a function of temperature and the relationship was examined. The thermal stresses were also measured in order to investigate the effect of entropy as a function of temperature. The hardness of NR and SBR compounds increased with increasing temperature above room temperature, and the measured thermal stress increased as temperature increased. However, the crosslink densities were not changed by temperature change.

플라스틱 소재는 온도, 습도 및 자외선 등 다양한 환경의 영향으로 인해 기계적 물성변화가 심하기 때문에 체결부의 견고함이 느슨해지고 형태의 변형에 의해 부품간의 마찰 등을 유발하여 잡음이 발생하게 된다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 자동차 칵핏 모듈에 사용되는 다양한 플라스틱 소재에 대해 온도변화에 따른 동 특성시험을 통해 유리전이온도, 저장탄성계수, 손실계수 등을 측정하여 상온 및 열화조건에 따른 물성변화를 파악하였다. 시험결과, 온도가 높을수록 저장탄성계수는 감소하고 손실계수는 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. Engineering plastics are used in instrument panels, interior trim, and other vehicle applications, and the thermomechanical behaviors of plastic materials are strongly influenced by many environmental factors such as temperature, sunlight, and rain. As the material properties change, the mechanical parts create unexpected noise. In this study, the dynamic mechanical property changes of plastics used in automobiles are measured to investigate the temperature effects. Viscoelastic properties such as the glass transition temperature and storage modulus and loss factor under temperature and frequency sweeps were measured. The data were compared with the original ones before aging to analyze the behavior changes. It was found that as the temperature increased, the storage modulus decreased and the loss factor increased slightly.
