        자가근막이완 운동이 비만 여자대학생의 신체조성과 혈관 및 대사기능에 미치는 효과

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of 8 weeks Self-Myofascial Release exercise on body composition, vascular and metabolic functions in obese female college students. The subjects were 19 obese female college students (n = 9) who were randomly assigned to an exercise group(n=9) and control group(n=9), with an exception of except 1 abandonment. The Self-Myofascial Release exercise group performed exercises twice a week for 8 weeks and for 40 minutes at one time using a foam roller, and the control group maintained normal life pattern for the same period. Body composition was measured by body weight, body fat percentage, vascular function was measured by pulse wave velocity(PWV), augmentation index(AIx), brachial artery vascular flow-mediated dilation(FMD), and metabolic function was measured by fasting glucose and triglyceride levels. The Self-Myofascial Release exercise with foam roller showed no significant effect on body weight and body fat percentage. The Self-Myofascial Release exercise with foam roller showed no significant effect on heart rate, FMD, PWV but, SBP, CSBP and AIx were significant decreased. The Self-Myofascial Release exercise with foam roller showed no significant effect on fasting glucose and triglyceride levels. In conclusion, 8-week Self-Myofascial Release exercise for obese female college students showed no significant effect on body composition and metabolic function, but improved SBP, CSBP and AIx levels significantly. Therefore, Self-Myofascial Release exercise will be an effective way to improve the vascular function of obese female college students. 본 연구는 비만 여자대학생을 대상으로 8주간의 자가근막이완 운동이 신체조성, 혈관, 대사기능에 미치는 효과에 대해서 알아보고자 하였다. 비만 여자대학생 19명을 대상으로 포기자 1명을 제외하고 자가근막이완 운동집단(n=9)과 통제집단(n=9)으로 무선 배정하였다. 운동집단은 폼롤러를 이용하여 8주간주 2회, 1회에 40분간 자가근막이완 운동을 실시하였고, 통제집단은 동일한 기간 동안 일상생활을 유지하 도록 하였다. 측정 변인으로 신체조성은 체중과 체지방률을 측정하였고, 혈관기능은 혈압, 심박수, 맥파전 파속도, 대동맥증폭지수, 상완동맥 혈관내피세포 의존성 이완능을 측정하였으며, 대사기능은 공복 혈당과 중성지방 수치를 측정하였다. 본 연구결과 폼롤러를 이용한 자가근막이완 운동 후 체중과 체지방률은 유의한 감소가 나타나지 않았다. 폼롤러를 이용한 자가근막이완 운동 후 심박수, 혈관내피세포의존성 이완능, 맥파전파속도는 유의한 변화가 나타나지 않았으나, 상완동맥과 중심동맥 수축기 혈압이 유의하게 감소하였 고(p<.01), 대동맥 증폭지수도 유의하게 감소하였다(p<.05). 대사기능의 변인인 혈당과 중성지방은 유의한 감소가 나타나지 않았다. 본 연구의 결과를 종합해 보면 비만 여자대학생에게 8주간의 자가근막이완 운동은 신체조성 변인인 체중과 체지방률, 대사기능의 변인인 혈당과 중성지방에 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았 다. 그러나 혈관기능의 변인인 상완동맥과 중심동맥 수축기 혈압, 대동맥 증폭지수에서 유의한 차이를 보였다. 따라서 8주간의 폼롤러를 이용한 자가근막이완 운동은 비만 여자대학생의 혈관기능을 개선시키는데 효과적인 운동방법이 될 것으로 판단된다.

        웨이트 트레이닝 전 자가근막이완 기법이 기능적 움직임과 지연성 근육통에 미치는 효과

        PURPOSE: This study aimed to examine the effect of the self-myofascial release technique conducted before weight training on functional movement and delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). METHODS: The study subjects were divided into three groups: a control group (CON, n=8), an active stretching group (DS, n=8), and a self-myofascial release group (SMR, n=8). All three groups performed the same leg press exercise program for 30 minutes, twice a week for eight weeks. Active stretching and self-myofascial release techniques were conducted before exercise for 30 minutes. Body composition, 1RM, and functional movement screen (FMS) were tested before the 1st-week exercise and after the 4th- and 8th-week exercise training. The DOMS levels were assessed immediately after exercise and at 24, 48, and 72 hours post-exercise using the visual analog scale (VAS). RESULTS: Body weight and body fat percentage showed a significant decrease (p<0.01), and muscle mass and 1RM increased with the exercise period (p<0.01). The FMS score differed between the groups (p<0.05), periods (p<0.01), and groups×periods (p<0.01). The FMS score was significantly higher in the SMR than in the CON group at the 4th- and 8th-week exercise. The exercise-induced VAS level peaked at 48 hours post-exercise in all groups and significantly decreased at 72 hours post-exercise in the SMR group. CONCLUSIONS: These results indicate that self-myofascial release positively affects functional movements and effectively alleviates exercise-induced pain levels. Therefore, self-myofascial release techniques could be used as an effective warm-up strategy to improve physical function and relieve exercise-induced injury and muscle pain.

        폼롤러를 이용한 자가근막 이완 요법이 지연성 근육통 환자의 균형에 미치는 영향

        The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of self-myofascial release therapy with a foam roller on the balance of patients with delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS). The subjects of the study were 30 healthy adults in their 20s, divided equally into the experimental and control groups. In both groups, the subjects had artificial DOMS induced. Self-myofascial release therapy was administered to the experimental group immediately after muscle pain induction and 30 hours after induction for about 30 minutes. The changes in balance ability and pain level between the groups were then examined. BioRescue and the visual analogue scale (VAS) for pain were used to assess balance and pain intensity. To compare the effects of self-myofascial release therapy with a foam roller on the balance of patients with DOMS, repeated-measures analysis of variance was used for both groups. The statistical significance level (a) was set as 0.05, and SPSS 19.0 software for Windows was used. A comparison of the dynamic balance between the groups during the experimental period showed a significant increase in the anterior and posterior stability limits in the experimental group (p < 0.05). In addition, the VAS score was compared and measured during the experimental period. A significant difference was observed in the experimental group, and a significant decrease was observed on the third day in the experimental group as compared with the control group (p < 0.05). In this study, we found that self-myofascial release therapy using foam rollers could be effective for attaining balance and relieving pain in patients with DOMS. However, future research should provide a more detailed study of whether the therapy can be optionally applied to relax and rehabilitate shortened muscles.

        만성 족저근막염 환자에게 듀오볼 자가근막이완요법 적용에 따른 통증감소 효과 분석

        The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of duoball self-myofascial release therapy on pain reduction in patient with chronic planter fascitis. The subjects for the study were 22 patient with chronic planter fascitis composed of the experimental group(n=11) and control group(n=11). The experimental group applied uoball self-myofascial release therapy and the effects on pain level, present pain intensity and satisfaction with pain control were evaluated. The experimental group significantly decreased pain level, present pain intensity and increased satisfaction with pain control. Consequently, Applying of duoball self-myofascial release therapy in patient with chronic planter fascitis will be effectively appeared to reduction of pain and positive effect of satisfaction with pain control. 본 연구는 만성 족저근막염 환자에게 듀오볼 자가근막이완요법 적용에 따른 통증감소에 미치는 효과를 분석하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 만성 족저근막염 환자 22명을 실험군 11명과 통제군 11명으로 무선배정하였다. 이후 듀오볼 자가근막이완요법 적용에 따른 통증정도, 현재 통증지수 및 통증 조절 만족도를 평가하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 먼저, 통증정도와 현재 통증지수에서는 듀오볼 자가근막이완요법을 적용한 실험군에서 유의한 감소가 나타났으며(p<.05), 통증 조절 만족도에서는 유의한 증가가 나타났다(p<.05). 통제군에서는 전 항목에서 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 본 연구를 통해 만성 족저근막염 환자에게 듀오볼 자가근막이완요법의 적용은 통증 감소에 효과적인 것을 확인하였으며, 통증 조절 만족도 역시 높은 것을 알 수 있었다.

        자가근막이완운동과 스포츠마사지가 남자 대학생의 운동수행력 및 피로회복에 미치는 영향

        PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of self-myofascial release exercise (SMR) and sports massage (SM) treatment on exercise performance and fatigue recovery in male college students. METHODS: Twelve male college students (23.41±1.24 years, 174.33±6.75 cm, 71.57±9.63 kg, 17.01±6.48% fat) participated in the study. Subjects were randomly assigned to either an experimental treatment (SMR or SM) or control (CON). All subjects were performed with 1st treatment (CON, SMR, SM) for 10 minutes in the lower limbs before isokinetic exercise and Wingate test. After 1st treatment, Wingate test was performed for 30 seconds after performing isokinetic exercise at 240°/sec left and right 28 times. After isokinetic exercise and Wingate test (All-out), 2nd treatment was performed for 10 minutes. In order to analyze creatine kinase (CK) and lactate, blood was collected and measured 9 times in total. RESULTS: There was no significant difference in the left and right endurance, maximal power, and total workload of the extension and flexor muscles measured by isokinetic exercise. In addition, there was no significant difference in the mean power (p=.116), maximum power (p=.214), fatigue index (p=.236), and total workload (p=.108) during Wingate test. In the case of CK and lactate levels, there was also no significant difference in treatment (CON, SMR, SM) and interaction effect except over time (p=.000, p=.000 respectively). CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, it seems that fatigue recovery and exercise performance are not affected by self-myopia relaxation exercise and sports massage treatment for 10-minute before and after exercise.

        자가 근막 이완요법(self-myofascial release)이 근피로가 유도된 대퇴직근의 탄성과 경직도에 미치는 영향

        The study was designed to evaluate the effect of self-myofascial release(SMR) technique on elasticity and stiffness of rectus femoris muscle which experienced the exhaustive fatigue induced by isokinetic endurance exercise. Total 25 college students(male: 14, female: 11) conducted two isokinetic endurance exercise(Biodex System 4, USA) with a week interval. In this cross-over study, each subject were asked to perform 6 sets of muscular endurance exercise(60°/sec, 10 times of maximal knee flexion and extension/each set) with 10seconds of resting interval. Each subject was asked to conduct SMR treatment on rectus femoris(experimental group) or take a complete resting(control group) for 5 minutes after 6 sets of isokinetic endurance exercise at each separated day with a week interval. In order to measure eth mechanical properties like muscle stiffness and elasticity, MyotonPro(Myoton AS, Tallinn, Estonia) was applied to muscle belly of rectus femoris muscle at pre-exercise, right after exercise, 5min. and 20min. after exercise. From the Myoton measurement, Five indexes(Frequency, Logarithmic Decrement, Dynamic Stiffness, Creep, Mechanical Stress Relaxation) were obtained. Electromyograph(EMG) on rectus fermoris m. was also measured during first set and 6th set of isokinetic exercise in order to obtained the muscle activity index and compare it with Myoton measurement indexes. The results were as follows: 1. The muscle tension and stiffness were significantly increased while the elasticity was decreased immediately and at 5 minutes after exercise. All mechanical properties of fatigued muscle were recovered to pre-exercise level at 20 minutes after exercise. 2. No significant effect of SMR on mechanical properties indexes of fatigued muscle was found at every time point after endurance exercise. 3. The changes of mechanical properties(tension, stiffness and elasticity) between pre-and post-exercise which were measured by Myoton-measurement had significant corelation with the changed muscle activities estimated by EMG.

        자가근막이완술이 여자축구동호인의 발목관절 등속성 근기능과 하지 안정성에 미치는 영향

        This study investigated the effects of self-myofascial release exercise using foam rolling on isokinetic muscular function of ankle joint and lower body stability for female soccer player's. Subjects were randomly alloted either to the experiment group (n=9) with self-myofacial release method and stretching program or the contrast group(n=8)with just stretching program. The changes in ankle joint isokinetic muscular function and lower body stability were measured. Asw a results, Maximum isokinetic muscular strength of experiment group significantly increased in dorsiflexion and plantarflexion of right ankle with angular velocity of 30°/sec; in eversion and dorsiflexion of right ankle with 120°/sec.; in dorsiflexion of right ankle with 180°/sec.; dorsiflexion and plantarflexion of left ankle with 180°/sec. And ankle joint strenghth ratio of experiment group significantly decreased in dorsiflexion and plantarflexion of right ankle with angular velocity of 30°/sec, and 180°/sec. Lower body stability for experiment group increased in anterior, posteolateral and postomedial movement. The deviation in Y-Balance test from left to right leg anterior and posteolateral movement significantly decreased in experiment group.

        Effect of Fascial Distortion Model on the Pain and Movement of Neck Patient

        Purpose: This study compared the effectiveness of three methods, fascial distortion model (FDM), myofascial release (MFR), self-myofascial release (SMR), on the neck range of motion and pain. Methods: In this study, the collected data were processed statistically using SPSS version 22.0 for Windows. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the general characteristics of the subjects. Repeated measure ANOVA was conducted to analyze the range of motion of the neck of the group and VAS, and Contras was used to see the difference in significance over time. One-way ANOVA was used to compare the differences among the groups and a post-hoc test was used. The significance level (α) was 0.05. Results: In the range of motion, the flexion and extension of the neck, right rotation, and left rotation were significantly different in the SMR, FDM, and MFR groups. The right lateral flexion showed significant differences in the FDM, MFR, and SMR groups. The VAS was similar in the groups at 2 and 4 weeks, but there was a significant difference among the FDM, MFR, and SMR groups at 6 weeks. Conclusion: In this study, MFR and MSR as well as FDM were effective in controlling the range of motion and pain control of the neck. Further studies will be needed to determine the effects of long-lasting treatments other than pain control. These studies and the present study will be used as a basis for ongoing research into the duration and method of application for musculoskeletal therapies.

        글라스톤 기법을 이용한 연부조직가동술과 자가근막이완술이 넙다리뒤근 유연성에 미치는 영향

        PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of Graston and self-myofascial release (SMR) techniques on knee joint flexibility, hamstring, and quadriceps strength. METHODS: Twenty subjects with hamstring shortness participated in this study. The subjects were assigned randomly to one of two groups: The Graston technique (GT) group received intervention using a Graston instrument for one minute, and the SMR group performed self-exercises using a foam roll for one minute. The range of motion (ROM) of the knee joint was measured by active knee extension test, and a handheld dynamometer was utilized to collect the hamstring and quadriceps muscle strength. This experiment was performed by two physical therapists. The significant level was set at α=0.05. RESULTS: The results were as follows: 1) The ROM of the knee joint and quadriceps muscle strength were significantly increased in both groups. 2) Hamstring muscle strength was significantly reduced in both groups. 3) There were no significant differences between the GT group and SMR group for any variable. CONCLUSION: The results of this study suggest that SMR is an effective and easy technique for restoring proper muscle length and strength in subjects with hamstring shortness. We recommend that SMR technique be used for treat hamstring shortness in clinical setting and homeprogram.

        Acute effect of self-myofascial release using a foam roller on the plantar fascia on hamstring and lumbar spine superficial back line flexibility

        Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the immediate effect of applying self-myofascial release (SMR) to the plantar fascia using a foam roller on hamstring and lumbar spine superficial back line (SBL). Design: Randomized controlled trial. Methods: Thirty-one healthy adults agreed to the method and purpose of the study. Selection and exclusion criteria were screened, and baseline measurements for the Toe Touch test and passive straight leg raise (PSLR) test were obtained. The participants were then randomly assigned to the SMR group or the sham group. After group assignment, the SMR group rolled the surface of the foot from the heel to the metatarsal head using a foam roller for 5 minutes. The sham group received passive mobilization of the ankle joint in the supine position. Afterwards, the Toe Touch test and the passive straight leg-raise test were re-assessed. Results: In the SMR group, the Toe Touch test results showed significant improvement (p<0.05). Left and right PSLR test results showed a significant increase (p<0.05). In the sham group, there was no significant difference between pre and post-test results. The SMR group showed a significant difference in the PSLR test and Toe Touch test compared to the sham group (p<0.05). Conclusions: The results of this study showed that SMR on the plantar fascia was immediately effective for improving the flexibility of the SBL of the lumbar spine and hamstring.
