Design and Simulation of the Channel Model of a LMMHD Generator Based on Halbach

        Xinyue Feng,Yiming Zhang,Jiashen Tian,Junxia Gao 한국자기학회 2018 Journal of Magnetics Vol.23 No.2

To improve the efficiency of the liquid metal magnetohydrodynamic (LMMHD) generator, a new type of magnet structure of LMMHD system is designed in paper. The internal magnetic gathering capability is enhanced by imitating the arrangement of the Halbach array magnet. The magnetic induction intensity of conventional magnetic channel, Halbach magnet channel, and the new type of magnet channel, which is derived from basic Halbach are compared via ANSYS Maxwell 2D model. Simulation results show that Halbach magnets have better capacity of magnetism gathering and are more efficient at gathering electricity than conventional methods. The new type of magnetic has advantages of small size, low cost, high induction intensity, high output voltage and high power.

Novel asymmetric duty modulation for DAB converters to improve light load efficiency

        Feng Wang,Xinyu Cui,Fang Zhuo,Jiachen Tian,Zhi Zheng,Ruixin Xu 전력전자학회 2023 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.23 No.4

In a DC distribution network, the solid-state transformer (SST) and energy storage systems require an isolated bidirectionalDC–DC converter (IBDC). Among the many IBDCs, the dual active bridge (DAB) converter has been widely studied dueto its advantages in terms of high power density and high efficiency. The traditional control strategy for DAB is phase shiftcontrol. However, when the primary and secondary side voltages do not match, the soft-switching characteristic and increasingcurrent in the phase shift control affect the application of DAB in scenarios involving input and output voltage changes. To improve the above-mentioned defects, a novel asymmetric duty modulation (ADM) control is proposed in this paper. Among the various multi-variable ADM controls, the two-variable ADM control is simple, but its current is higher under light loads. To improve this defect, this paper introduces trapezoidal modulation (TZM) control proposed for phase shift control into ADM to form a similar TZM (STZM) control corresponding to TZM control. This paper first expounds the basic principle of STZM control. On this basis, its basic characteristics are researched. With current stress as the optimization goal, an optimal STZM (OSTZM) control scheme with minimum current stress is proposed, and the effectiveness of the theoretical analysis is verified on the experimental bench. The result shows that STZM control can improve efficiency under light loads by reducing the current and ensuring full ZVS.

      • Numerical form-finding of multi-order tensegrity structures by grouping elements

        Xinyu Wang,Jianguo Cai,Daniel Sang-hoon Lee,Yixiang Xu,Jian Feng 국제구조공학회 2021 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.41 No.2

Multi-order tensegrity structures are an attractive form of compliant deployable structures. An efficient numerical form-finding method is proposed for multi-stable tensegrity structures in this paper. The current method first analyze the force density matrix for sets of more feasible force densities that satisfy the non-degeneracy conditions. Then, based on symmetrical grouping of elements, a genetic algorithm is used to minimize the eigenvalues; as a result, multiple orders of equilibrium can be found. For the investigation, two symmetric tensegrity structures are analyzed using the currently proposed method, and the method’s applicability and accuracy have been examined.

        Guyu Feng,Xinyue Wang,Diantang Zhang,Xueliang Xiao,Kun Qian 한국섬유공학회 2020 Fibers and polymers Vol.21 No.7

This paper presents the results of resin coating and sand gluing on the acoustic emission (AE) characteristics in theinterface failure process of concrete reinforced by polypropylene (PP) fibers. Interface property is an important performanceof fibers reinforced concrete, and the pull-out test is the simplest and most effective mean to investigate interface behaviorbetween concrete and fibers. In this study, the realistic bi-linear local bond-slip law and the AE results are employed in thiswork to derive expressions of interface stress distribution and present the detailed analysis. The results of AE test are used toexplain interface stress propagation in the different loading stages. Interface failure energy is also described quantitatively fordifferent interface mode in this work.

      • Simulation of Spinal Codes

        Danning Feng,Huijun Yue,Xinyue Li,Siyang Tan,Rui Tao,Junbin Lai 한국산학기술학회 2013 SmartCR Vol.3 No.6

Spinal codes are a new kind of adaptive rateless codes. By analyzing the theory, consisting of hash-function encoding, modulation, maximum-likelihood decoding, and puncturing, the data structure was redesigned, and simulation of the whole transmission process was accomplished. The transfer rate was tested with both additive white Gaussian noise channel (AWGN channel) and binary symmetric channel (BSC). The experiment with AWGN demonstrated the rightness of our design and showed that spinal codes are extremely close to the Shannon Limit. What?s more, validity of the data structure was also proven with BSC. These results show that spinal codes are efficient and practical, which will be very useful in the near future.

Involvement of adaptor protein, phosphotyrosine interacting with PH domain and leucine zipper 1 in diallyl trisulfide-induced cytotoxicity in hepatocellular carcinoma cells

        Guan Feng,Ding Youming,He Yikang,Li Lu,Yang Xinyu,Wang Changhua,Hu Mingbai 대한약리학회 2022 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology Vol.26 No.6

It has been demonstrated that APPL1 (adaptor protein, phosphotyrosine interacting with PH domain and leucine zipper 1) is involved in the regulation of several growth-related signaling pathways and thus closely associated with the development and progression of some cancers. Diallyl trisulfide (DAT), a garlic-derived bioactive compound, exerts selective cytotoxicity to various human cancer cells through interfering with pro-survival signaling pathways. However, whether and how DAT affects survival of human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells remain unclear. Herein, we tested the hypothesis of the involvement of APPL1 in DAT-induced cytotoxicity in HCC HepG2 cells. We found that Lys 63 (K63)-linked polyubiquitination of APPL1 was significantly decreased whereas phosphorylation of APPL1 at serine residues remained unchanged in DAT-treated HepG2 cells. Compared with wild-type APPL1, overexpression of APPL1 K63R mutant dramatically increased cell apoptosis and mitigated cell survival, along with a reduction of phosphorylation of STAT3, Akt, and Erk1/2. In addition, DAT administration markedly reduced protein levels of intracellular TNF receptor-associated factor 6 (TRAF6). Genetic inhibition of TRAF6 decreased K63-linked polyubiquitination of APPL1. Moreover, the cytotoxicity impacts of DAT on HepG2 cells were greatly attenuated by overexpression of wild-type APPL1. Taken together, these results suggest that APPL1 polyubiquitination probably mediates the inhibitory effects of DAT on survival of HepG2 cells by modulating STAT3, Akt, and Erk1/2 pathways.

The Physiological Occlusion of the Central Canal May Be a Prerequisite for Syringomyelia Formation

        Chuan Jiang,Xinyu Wang,Chunli Lu,Qian Li,Longbing Ma,Wei Li,Shengyu Cui,Kang Li,Xiang Wang,Yuxin Feng,Fengzeng Jian 대한척추신경외과학회 2023 Neurospine Vol.20 No.4

Objective: Syringomyelia is a common central nervous system disease characterized by the dilation of the central canal (CC). Regarding the pathogenesis of syringomyelia, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) circulation obstruction in the subarachnoid space (SAS) of the spinal cord has been widely accepted. However, clinical and animal studies on obstructing the CSF in SAS failed to form syringomyelia, challenging the theory of SAS obstruction. The precise pathogenesis remains unknown. Methods: We utilized an extradural compression rat model to investigate the pathogenesis underlying syringomyelia. Magnetic resonance imaging enabled detection of syringomyelia formation. To assess CSF flow within the SAS, Evans blue was infused into the cisterna magna. Histological analysis allowed morphological examination of the CC. Furthermore, CSF flow through the CC was traced using Ovalbumin Alexa-Flour 647 conjugate (OAF-647). Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) enabled visualization of ependymal cilia. Results: The findings showed that the dura mater below the compression segment exhibited lighter coloration relative to the region above the compression, indicative of partial obstruction within the SAS. However, the degree of SAS occlusion did not significantly differ between syringomyelia (SM-Y group) and those without (SM-N group). Intriguingly, hematoxylin and eosin staining and CSF tracing revealed occlusion of the CC accompanied by reduced CSF flow in the SM-Y group compared to SM-N and control groups. SEM images uncovered impairment of ependymal cilia inside the syringomyelia. Conclusion: CC occlusion may represent a physiological prerequisite for syringomyelia formation, while SAS obstruction serves to initiate disease onset. The impairment of ependymal cilia appears to facilitate progression of syringomyelia.

Phase II trial of VEGFR2 inhibitor apatinib for metastatic sarcoma: focus on efficacy and safety

        Zhichao Liao,Feng Li,Chao Zhang,Lei Zhu,Yehui Shi,Gang Zhao,Xu Bai,Shafat Hassan,Xinyue Liu,Ting Li,Peipei Xing,Jun Zhao,Jin Zhang,Ruwei Xing,Sheng Teng,Yun Yang,Kexin Chen,Jilong Yang 생화학분자생물학회 2019 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.51 No.-

Apatinib (YN968D1) is a novel tyrosine kinase inhibitor targeting vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR- 2). We conducted a single-arm, nonrandomized phase II study (NCT03121846) to assess the efficacy and safety of apatinib in patients with stage IV sarcoma. We recruited 64 patients with stage IV sarcoma who had failed chemotherapy. The primary endpoint was progression-free survival (PFS), and the secondary endpoints were progression-free survival rate (PFR), objective response rate (ORR), and disease control rate (DCR) at week 12. Treatment-related adverse effects (AEs) were evaluated. Fifty-nine patients were assessed for efficacy and 64 patients for AEs. The median PFS was 7.93 months. At 12 weeks, the PFR was 74%, the ORR was 16.95% (10/59), and the DCR was 86.44% (51/59). The final ORR was 15.25% (9/59) and the DCR was 57.63% (34/59). Notably, 22 patients (34.38%) who developed hypertension, hand-foot-skin reaction, or proteinuria had significantly longer OS than those without these AEs (18.20 vs. 10.73 months; P = 0.002). We conclude that apatinib is effective and well tolerated in patients with advanced sarcoma. The development of hypertension, hand-foot-skin reaction, or proteinuria may indicate a favorable prognosis, representing a novel finding in sarcoma patients.
