Soluble epoxide hydrolases (sEH) are enzymes present in all living organisms, metabolize epoxy fatty acids to 1,2-diols. sEH in the metabolism of polyunsaturated fatty acids plays a key role in inflammation. In addition, the endogenous lipid mediators in cardiovascular disease are also broken down to diols by the action of sEH that enhanced cardiovascular protection. In this study, sEH inhibitory guided fractionation led to the isolation of five phenolic compounds trans-resveratrol (1), trans-piceatannol (2), sulfuretin (3), (+)-balanophonin (4), and cassigarol E (5) from the ethanol extract of the seeds of Passiflora edulis Sims cultivated in Vietnam. The chemical structures of isolated compounds were determined by the interpretation of NMR spectral data, mass spectra, and comparison with data from the literature. The soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) inhibitory activity of isolated compounds was evaluated. Among them, trans-piceatannol (2) showed the most potent inhibitory activity on sEH with an IC50 value of 3.4 mM. This study marks the first time that sulfuretin (3) was isolated from Passiflora edulis as well as (+)-balanophonin (4), and cassigarol E (5) were isolated from Passiflora genus.
Predicting Financial Distress Distribution of Companies

Purpose: Predicting the financial distress distribution of an enterprise is important to warn enterprises about their future. Predicting the possibility of financial distress helps companies have action plans to avoid the possibility of bankruptcy. In this study, the author conducted a forecast of the financial distress distribution of enterprises. Research design, data and methodology: The forecasting method is based on Logit and Discriminant analysis models. The data was collected from companies listed on Vietnam Stock Exchange from 2012 to 2020. In which there are both companies suffer from financial distress and non-financial distress. Results: The forecast analysis results show that the Logistic model has better predictability than the Discriminant analysis model. At the same time, the results also indicate three main factors affecting the financial distress of enterprises at all three research stages: (1) Liquidity, (2) Interest payment, and (3) firm size. In addition, at each stage, the impact of factors on financial distress differs. Conclusions: From the results of this study, the author also made several recommendations to help companies better control company operations to avoid falling into financial distress. Adjustments to current assets, debt, and company expansion considerations are the most important factors for companies.

Objectives: The average alcohol consumption per capita among Vietnamese adults has consistently increased. Although alcoholrelated disorders have been extensively studied, there is a paucity of research shedding light on this issue among Internet users. The study aimed to examine the severity of alcohol-related disorders and other associated factors that might predispose individuals towards alcohol usage in a sample of youths recruited online. Methods: An online cross-sectional study was conducted with 1,080 Vietnamese youths. A standardized questionnaire was used. Respondent-driven sampling was applied to recruit participants. Multivariate logistic and Tobit regressions were utilized to identify the associated factors. Results: About 59.5% of the males and 12.7% of the total youths declared that they were actively using alcohol. From the total sample, a cumulative total of 32.3% of the participants were drinking alcohol, with 21.8% and 25.0% of the participants being classified as drinking hazardously and binge drinkers, respectively. The majority of the participants (60.7%) were in the pre-contemplative stage. Conclusions: A high prevalence of hazardous drinking was recognized among online Vietnamese youths. In addition, we found relationships between alcohol use disorder and other addictive disorders, such as tobacco smoking and water-pipe usage. Our results highlighted that the majority of the individuals are not receptive to the idea of changing their alcohol habits, and this would imply that there ought to be more government effort towards the implementation of effective alcohol control policies.
베트남의 한국학 및 한국어교육 관련 동향 -하노이국립대학교 외국어 대학을 중심으로-

Nowadays, Korean language education in Vietnam has been flourishing not only in universities but also in high schools and Middle School. In recent years, the number of Korean teachers and learners has increased dramatically so it can be said that Vietnam is a country that has been developing brilliantly in the field of Korean language teaching among Southeast Asian countries. This paper will review the situation of teaching Korean language at major universities and educational institutions in Vietnam. In other words, it can be affirmed that Vietnam's education and research branch in Korean language and Korean studies has grown beyond the stable threshold and is undergoing a drastic change. The paper also surveyed the curriculum of some typical Korean faculties in Vietnam. From there, analyzing the number of credits in Korean language and the subjects of Korean studies, finding out the common points and characteristics of the Korean studies of Vietnam. The paper also proposed directions and solutions for the development of Korean language education and Korean studies in Vietnam in the future. 베트남 지역 세종학당의 운영 현황과 향후 발전을 위한 제언

본고는 2007년 최초 설립 이래 지속적으로 확대되고 있는 한국어 국외 보급 전문기관인 ‘세종학당’에 관심을 두고, 성공적인 운영 기관의 한 사례로 베트남 지역의 하노이2 세종학당을 중심으로 고찰한 논의이다. 먼저 2장에서는 세종학당 관련 기존 성과를 전반적으로 검토한 데 이어 베트남 지역의 한국어 교육과 세종학당에 대한 선행 연구를 개관하였다. 3장에서는 본고의 연구 대상인 하노이2 세종학당의 개요 및 운영 현황을 파악하고 이를 토대로 4장에서는 향후 발전 방안에 대한 시사점을 논하였다. 개별 세종학당들의 성공적인 운영 사례를 발굴하고 면밀히 파악하는 작업은 세계 곳곳 세종학당의 내적 기반을 공고히 하고 현지 실정에 최적화된 세종학당의 모습을 모색하는 데 기초 자료로 삼을 수 있다는 측면에서 본고의 의의가 있다. This paper discusses Sejong Institute, the specialized organization promoting Korean language teaching and learning overseas, which has been continuously expanding since its establishment in 2007. In particular, the discussion focuses on Sejong Institute Hanoi 2 in Vietnam as an example of successful institute operation. In Chapter 2, we review in general the established results related to Sejong Institute and then examine previous studies on Korean language education and Sejong Institute in Vietnam. In Chapter 3, we look at the outline and the current operation conditions of Sejong Institute Hanoi 2, the subject of this study, and based on this, discuss in Chapter 4 the implications for future development plans. The significance of this paper lies in the fact that the work of finding and carefully understanding cases of successfully operated individual Sejong Institute centers can provide the basic material for strengthening the internal foundation of Sejong Institute centers around the world and for finding the form of Sejong Institute that is optimized for local circumstances.
DNA Methylation Changes Following 5-azacitidine Treatment in Patients with Myelodysplastic Syndrome

<P>DNA methyltransferase inhibitor, 5-azacitidine (AC) is effective in myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and can induce re-expression in cancer. We analyzed the methylation of 25 tumor suppressor genes in AC-treated MDS. Hypermethylation of <I>CDKN2B</I>, <I>FHIT</I>, <I>ESR1</I>, and <I>IGSF4</I> gene was detected in 9/44 patients. In concordance with the clinical response, a lack of or decreased methylation in 4 patients with hematologic improvements and persistent methylation in 4 others with no response was observed. The mRNA expression of <I>CDKN2B</I>, <I>IGSF4</I>, and <I>ESR1</I> was significantly reduced in MDS. Our results suggest that methylation changes contribute to disease pathogenesis and may serve as marker to monitor the efficacy of treatments.</P>

Glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) has been commonly used to screen and diagnose for patients with diabetes mellitus. Here the accelerated procedure of microwave-assisted sample treatment from acid hydrolysis to enzyme digestion followed by isotope dilution liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (ID-LC-MS/MS) was optimized and applied to measure HbA<sub>1c</sub> in an effort to speed up analysis time. First, two signature peptides of HbA1c and hemoglobin A0 were certified with amino acid analysis by setting optimized acid hydrolysis conditions to 150℃, 1.5 h and 10 μM sample concentration in 8 M hydrochloric acid. Consequently, the accurate certified peptides above were used as calibration standards to implement the proteolytic procedure with endoproteinase Glu-C at 37℃, 700 W for 6 h. Compared to the traditional method, the microwave heating not only shortened dramatically sample preparation time, but also afforded comparable recovery yields. The optimized protocol and analytical conditions in this study are suitable for a primary reference method of HbA1c quantification with full SItraceability and other similar proteins in complex biological samples.
