        Three-Dimensional Porous Collagen/Chitosan Complex Sponge for Tissue Engineering

        A three-dimensional, porous collagen/chitosan complex sponge was prepared to closely simulate basic extracellular matrix (ECM) constitutes, collagen and glycosaminoglycan. The complex sponge was prepared by a lyophilization method and had the regular network with highly porous structure, suitable for cell adhesion and growth. The pores were well interconnected, and their distribution was fairly homogeneous. The complex sponge was crosslinked using 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethyl aminopropyl) carbodiimide (EDC) and N-hydroxysuccinimide (NHS) to increase its boilogical stability and enhance its mechanical properties. The crosslinking medium has a great effect on the inner structure of the sponge. The homogeneous, porous structure of the sponge was remarkably collapsed in an aqueous crosslinking medium. However, the morphology of the sponge remained almost intact in a water/ethanol mixture crosslinking milieu. Mechanical properties of the collagen/chitosan sponge were significantly enhanced by EDC-mediated crosslinking. The potential of the sponge as a scaffold for tissue engineering was investigated using a Chinese hamster ovary cell (CHO-K1) line.

        5급 와동에서 저유동성과 고유동성 레진의 변연 미세누출 비교

        이 연구는 1단계 자가부식 접착제와 저유동성 및 고유동성 레진을 이용한 5급 와동 수복물에서 법랑질과 상아질 변연의 미세 누출 차이를 상호 비교하기 위하여 시행하였다. 40개의 대구치의 협, 설면 치경부에 5급 와동을 형성하고, 8개씩 무작위로 선택하여 사용된 유동성 레진에 따라 5개의 군으로 분류하여 각 군의 와동을 유동성 레진으로 충전하였다 (대조군: Filtek Z 350, M-LF 군: Metafil Flo α, U-LF 군: Unifil LoFlo Plus, M-HF군: Metafil Flo, U-HF군: Unifil Flow). 각 군의 치아를 2% methylene blue용액에 24시간 동안 침적시킨 다음, 협면과 설면의 5급 수복물의 중앙부가 통과되도록 절단하였다. 각 군의 절단 시편에서 유동성 레진 수복물의 법랑질과 상아질 변연부를 광학 입체현미경 하에서 색소침투 정도를 관찰하여 미세누출 점수를 평가하였다. 본 연구의 결과, 1단계 자가부식 접착제와 유동성 레진을 이용하여 5급 와동을 충전한 경우, 고유동성 레진보다 저유동성 레진이 낮은 변연 미세누출을 나타내어 5급 와동에서 저유동성 레진의 사용이 추천된다. The purpose of this study was to compare the microleakage of low and high viscosity flowable resins in class V cavities applied with 1-step adhesives. Forty Class V cavities were prepared on the cervices of buccal and lingual surfaces of extracted molar teeth and divided into four groups (n=8). Cavities were restored with AQ Bond Plus /Metafil Flo α, G-Bond/ UniFil LoFlo Plus (Low flow groups), AQ Bond Plus/Metafil Flo and G-Bond/UniFil Flow (High flow group), respectively. Specimens were immersed in a 2% methylene blue solution for 24 hours, and bisected longitudinally. They were observed microleakages at the enamel and dentinal margins. In conclusion, the low viscosity flowable resins showed lower marginal microleakage than do the high vis cosity flowable resins in class V cavities.

        외상환자의 중증도분류를 위한 Triage Score와 Triage-Revised Trauma Score의 비교

        Background: The triage-revised trauma score(t-RTS) is used for triage in trauma patients in many countries. Recently, the triage score was developed as a new triage method for trauma patients in Korea. The objective of this study was to assess the accuracy of triage for the t-RTS and the triage score. Methods: The medical records of 1575 consecutive trauma patients visiting the Emergency Center, Masan Samsung Hospital, from March to August 1999 were retrospectively analyzed. The triage score and the t-RTS were taken from the charts completed by the emrgency room doctors and nurses. The accuracies of the two triage methods were compared by using the undertriage and the overtriage rates, receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve analysis, and a correlation analysis with many physiologic, anatomical, biochemical, and mixed scores(Glasgow coma scale, injury severity score, TRISS, APACHE II and III scores, operation, survival, etc.). Results: The undertriage rates for the triage score and the t-RTS were 22.8% and 38.2%, respectively(p≤0.001), the overtriage rates were 6.3% and 3.1%, respectively,(p≤0.001), and the accurate triage rates were 91.3% and 91.7%, respectively. The areas under ROC curves for the triage score and the t-RTS were 0.871±0.033 and 0.800±0.039, respectively(95% confidence interval, p<0.001). In general, the correlations of the two triage methods with many physiologic, anatomical, biochemical, and mixed scores were moderately high, but there were no statistical differences between the correlation coefficients of the two triage methods for those scores. Conclusion: The triage score was equal or superior to the t-RTS for triage in trauma patients. The former was simpler and could be used easily by emergency medical personnel. Therefore, the authors conclude that the triage score can be used instead of the t-RTS for triage in trauma patients.

      • 지식 베이스의 에이젠트화에 의한 지식 미디어 시스템에 관한 연구

        The knowledge of the specialized fields has been changed rapidly in the both side of quantity and quality. A hyper media as a knowledge based system is so fixed in the linked media in mutual that we couldn't tell it information provision with the view of user. In this paper, we propose the way of offering intellectual and flexible information which is same with demand in the side of user, selecting, searching and composing the hypertext at the point of user's view through the design of knowledge media system. three concepts is used in order to challenge the knowledge media system : special document, agent system and ontology. The special document is a knowledge using special fields. The agent system is a homogeneous controller that operates on and application to ensure that its activities are coordinated with those of the others within the community, providing a uniform control mechanism. The last 3th concept, ontology is a language for knowledgement, which is a message exchanged among agents to ensure the proper interaction among them. The combination of these three concepts is used designed the prototype of knowledge media system.

        심혈관 위험요인과 청력역치의 상관성

        To investigate the effects of cardiovascular risk factors on hearing loss, hearing threshold and cardiovascular risk factors such as blood pressure, hematologic values, and serum lipid levels of 3,827 persons who visited the Health Center of a University Hospital in Kumi for health examination from January 1, 1995 to July 31, 1997 were analysed. The results were summarized as follows; 1. Hearing threshold was shifted highly in both sex groups with age increased. Smoking did not influence increase of hearing loss, but drinking alcohol amount increased the hearing threshold when sex was adjusted. The most highly increased hearing threshold showed among farmers group, but next was blue collars group. Hearing threshold increasing basis with BMI increased. 2. Systolic and diastolic blood pressure and hematocrit value increased the hearing threshold in both sex groups, but hemoglobin value did not related to the hearing threshold. 3. Total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, triglyceride, and atherosclerosis index were significantly increased with the grade of hearing loss increased, when age was adjusted. 4. In the logistic regression analysis, the atherosclerosis index, age, and hematocrit value revealed risk factors which contributed in that orders, though the values were small they showed statistical significaces, but the risks were lowered when hemoglobin values increased, in both sex groups. Consequently, hyperlipidemia was significantly related to the hearing loss when age was adjusted.

      • MPEG-4 부호화 데이터의 객체 기반 입체 동영상 변환

        In this paper, we propose new stereoscopic video conversion methodology that converts two-dimensional(2-D) MPEG-4 video to stereoscopic video. In MPEG-4, each image is composed of background object and primary object. In the first step of the conversion methodology, the camera motion type is determined for stereo image generation. For this, motion vectors of background object are utilized. In the second step, the object-based stereo image generation is accomplished. The background object makes use of a current image and a delayed image for its stereo image generation. On the other hand, the primary object uses a current image and its horizontally-shifted version to avoid the possible vertical parallax that could happen. Furthermore, URFA(Uncovered Region Filling Algorithm) is applied in the uncovered region which might be created after the stereo image generation of a primary object. In our experiment, we convert MPEG-4 test video to stereoscopic video based upon our proposed methodology and analyze its results.
