The planetary gear reducer becomes more and more widely used in machine industries. The planetary gear reducer has a significant role to transmit power to wheel & tire module in the Inwheel system. Thus, the planetary gear reducer should have strong stiffness and durability. In this paper, the contact and bending stresses at the tooth of the planetary gear reducer are analyzed using MASTA, a commercial gear design and analysis software. Stress distribution at the tooth face of the sun, planetary and annulus gears are obtained using the finite element method. The design modification is performed using the response surface method. The usefulness of the design modification and optimization method presented in this paper is verified by comparing the maximum stresses of the original and optimized planetary gear tooth

This study proposes a system that can collect and analyze the brake particle matter generated from a vehicle and brake dynamometer. A dust cover is developed to collect brake particle matter, and the number of particle matter by size is measured using a portable aerosol spectrometer. Brake PM 10 generated when the vehicle is driving on highways, country and city roads is collected and analyzed. Based on the vehicle driving data, the test mode for the brake dynamometer is developed using the relationship between brake energy and brake power. The same brake fi ne dust collection and measurement system as the vehicle is installed on the brake dynamometer, and brake PM 10 generated according to the test mode for each road condition is collected and analyzed. As a result, the total number of brake PM 10 collected from the vehicle and brake dynamometer shows about maximum of 20% error rate for each road condition. The Pearson correlation coeffi cient for the test results is 0.9988, and it means that the vehicle and brake dynamometer test results has a strong positive relationship.
Macro puncture를 이용한 지지층 개질 MD 분리막 개발

Membrane distillation (MD) is a hydrid membrane process using the temperature difference as a driving force. In order to enhance the performance (flux) of the MD process, various membrane structures (asymmetric or bi-composite) and materials (PP, PVDF or PTFE) have been suggested. In this study, the support layer of the commercial PTFE/PP bi-composite membrane is modifed by forming the macro punctures in it. The size and location of macro punctures were varied according to the designed support layer porosities (50, 60, 70 and 80 %). The modified membrane test was conducted by using the DCMD configuration. The flux of a modified membranewas enhanced up to 27 % compared with that of pristine membrane when the size of the macro puncture and overall porosity of the support layer were larger than 20 mm2 and 60 %, respectively.
DEVELOPMENT OF INDOOR TEST METHOD FOR PASSENGER CAR TIRES REFLECTING ROAD DRIVING CONDITIONS

This study presents a method for developing a tire indoor wear test mode that refl ects road driving conditions using a Flattrac. Using a machine learning model, the slip angle, slip ratio, longitudinal force, and lateral force change according tovehicle speed and acceleration changes are estimated. Reduced data representing the estimated data are calculated using apeak–valley (PV) algorithm. Through the blocking process, representative test modes for driving and braking, right turningand left turning are derived and converted into a test mode for application to the Flat-trac. The evolution of tire tread wearis observed through 120 repeated tests, and the applicability of the test mode developed in this study is discussed.
Design Optimization of Spring of a Locking Nut using Design of Experiments

The bolt and nut is a representative fastener used in a machine assembly. When a load is repetitively applied to the bolt and nut assembly in the perpendicular direction of the bolt axis, the nut gradually loosens. To address this problem, nuts of diverse structures and shapes have been developed. In this study, a loose-proof locking nut is developed using a spring. The spring prevents the loosening of the nut by augmenting the axial load of the bolt. Three dimensional finite element models for the bolt, nut, spring and vibration plate are generated, and the loosening performance of the nut is analyzed using MSC/Marc, a commercial finite element analysis program. With the optimization technique based on the design of experiments, the shape and material of the spring are optimized. The optimal results are applied to the bolt and nut connection. The performance of the newly developed locking nut with a spring is compared to that of the general nut and bolt connection without a spring and the effectiveness of the locking nut is verified.
