Fu, Yan,Tsauo, Jiaywei,Sun, Yucheng,Wang, Zhe,Kim, Kun Yung,Lee, Seung-Hwan,Kim, Dong-Young,Jing, Feifeng,Lim, Dahae,Song, Ho-Young,Hyun, Hoon,Choi, Eun Young Elsevier 2018 Biochemical and biophysical research communication Vol.500 No.3

Abstract

Postoperative peritoneal adhesions, fibrous bands formed in the peritoneal cavity following surgery, represent a common, challenging and costly problem faced by surgeons and patients, for which effective therapeutic options are lacking. Since aberrant inflammation is one of the key mechanisms underlying peritoneal adhesion formation, here we set out to study the role of developmental endothelial locus-1 (Del-1), which has been recently identified as an endogenous inhibitor of inflammation, in the formation of postoperative peritoneal adhesions using a mouse model of peritoneal adhesions induced by ischemic buttons. Del-1-deficient mice had a higher incidence of adhesions, and their adhesions had higher quality and tenacity scores. Del-1 deficiency also led to enhanced inflammation mediators and collagen production. Finally, Del-1 supplementation decreased the incidence and severity of postoperative peritoneal adhesions. Taken together, these results indicate a protective role for Del-1 in postoperative peritoneal adhesion formation.

Research on the Multi-Objective Optimization Design of Connecting Claw Jig
Yuqin Yan,Na Fu,Xin Zhang,Cheng Wang,Jie Sun,Laixiao Lu 한국강구조학회 2021 International Journal of Steel Structures Vol.21 No.6
The connection claw jig is a common point support device for glass curtain wall, which meets the requirements of high permeability of glass curtain wall. It is widely used in the structural form of point support glass curtain wall with large grid and large plate. With the continuous development of curtain wall technology, the requirements for the mechanical properties of the connecting claw jig are becoming higher and higher. It is diffi cult to ensure the best mechanical properties of the product under the traditional design methods. In order to study the optimal structure design method of the claw, based on the multi-objective optimization theory, this paper takes the quality, the maximum equivalent stress, the minimum safety factor and the maximum deformation of the claw as the optimization objectives, carries out the structural optimization design of the claw, analyzes the sensitivity of the main structural parameters of the claw, and studies the infl uence of the design variables within the optimization interval on the maximum equivalent stress the results show that the mechanical properties are improved and the quality of the jig is reduced by 9.6%.

Given the importance of synchronization in chaotic systems, this paper presents a new approach to achieve this goal. Simultaneous consideration of time-varying delays, disturbances, uncertainties, and nonlinear terms in a fractional order chaotic system poses a fundamental challenge for achieving the synchronization goal and this paper presents a novel complex approach resulting from neural network and sliding mode approaches to overcome it. The Chebyshev neural network has been used to estimate the delayed nonlinear functions as well as the uncertain parts of the fractional order chaotic system, and the robust sliding mode technique has been considered to ensure stability against the effects of multiple inconveniences. Finally, simulation and comparison in MATLAB environment confirms the efficiency and ability of the proposed scheme in achieving the goal of robust synchronization despite the uncertainty, variable time delay, disturbance and nonlinear terms.
Inhaled Formaldehyde Induces Bone Marrow Toxicity via Oxidative Stress in Exposed Mice
Yu, Guang-Yan,Song, Xiang-Fu,Liu, Ying,Sun, Zhi-Wei Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.13
Formaldehyde (FA) is an economically important chemical, and has been found to cause various types of toxic damage to the body. Formaldehyde-induced toxic damage involves reactive oxygen species (ROS) that trigger subsequent toxic effects and inflammatory responses, which may increase risk of cancer. Therefore, in the present study, we aimed to investigate the possible toxic mechanism in bone marrow caused by formaldehyde. In accordance with the principle of randomization, the mice were divided into four groups of 6 mice per group. One group was exposed to ambient air and the other three groups were exposed to different concentrations of formaldehyde (20, 40, $80mg/m^3$) for 15 days in the respective inhalation chambers, 2h a day. At the end of the 15-day experimental period, all mice were killed. Bone marrow cells were obtained. Some of those were used for the determination of blood cell numbers, bone marrow karyote numbers, CFU-F, superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and malondialdehyde (MDA) content; others were used for the determination of mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), cell cycle and Bcl-2, Bax, CytC protein expression. WBC and PLT numbers in median and high dose groups were obvious reduced, but there was no change on RBC numbers. There was also reduced numbers of bone marrow karyotes and CFU-F in the high dose group. SOD activity was decreased, but MDA content was increased. MMP and Bcl-2 expression were decreased with increasing formaldehyde concentration, while expression of Bax and Cyt C was increased. We also observed change in cell cycling, and found that there was S phase arrest in the high dose group. Our study suggested that a certain concentration of formaldehyde could have toxic effects on the hematopoietic system, with oxidative stress as a critical effect.

To understand the emission source of the final-state particles produced in proton-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions at high energies, we analyzed some experimental data of angular distributions by using the multi-source ideal gas model. The deformation and the movement of the emission source are considered in the model, and the method of Monte Carlo simulation is performed. We show that the calculated results are in agreement with the experimental data. Our results show that the emission source has a deformation and/or movement in the p_z-p_y plane (off-reaction plane).

Objective: Genetic high-risk assessment combines hereditary breast, ovarian and pancreatic cancer into one syndrome. However, there is a lack of data for comparing the germline mutational spectrum of the cancer predisposing genes between these three cancers. Methods: Patients who met the criteria of the hereditary breast, ovarian and pancreatic cancer were enrolled and received multi-gene sequencing. Results: We enrolled 730 probands: 418 developed breast cancer, 185 had ovarian cancer, and 145 had pancreatic cancer. Out of the 18 patients who had two types of cancer, 16 had breast and ovarian cancer and 2 had breast and pancreatic cancer. A total of 167 (22.9%) patients had 170 mutations. Mutation frequency in breast, ovarian and pancreatic cancer was 22.3%, 33.5% and 17.2%, respectively. The mutation rate was significantly higher in patients with double cancers than those with a single cancer (p<0.001). BRCA1 and BRCA2 were the most dominant genes associated with hereditary breast and ovarian cancer, whereas ATM was the most prevalent gene related to hereditary pancreatic cancer. Genes of hereditary colon cancer such as lynch syndrome were presented in a part of patients with pancreatic or ovarian cancer but seldom in those with breast cancer. Families with a history of both ovarian and breast cancer were associated with a higher mutation rate than those with other histories. Conclusion: The mutation spectrum varies across the three cancer types and family histories. Our analysis provides guidance for physicians, counsellors, and counselees on the offer and uptake of genetic counseling.
