An environmentally friendly and low-cost chitosan-containing polysaccharide (CP) composite ZIF-8/CP was designed and prepared based on the difficulty of separating the traditional adsorbent from the water phase. ZIF-8/CP was synthesized through in-situ growth approach. The physical, chemical and structure properties of ZIF-8/CP were determined through a series of characterization methods, including SEM, FT-IR and PXRD. The effects of touch time, pH, temperature, and coexisting ions on adsorption were assessed. In addition, kinetics, isotherms of adsorption and thermodynamics were examined. The data of isotherms for adsorption indicated that the adsorption of ZIF-8/CP on MG was similar to the Langmuir model, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 1428.57 mg/g. Moreover, the kinetic parameters were consistent with the pseudo- 2nd-order equation. Thermodynamic studies (ΔG < 0, ΔH > 0) demonstrated a heat-absorbing and spontaneous adsorption process. Our study reveals that ZIF-8/CP has good adsorption properties and environmental properties.

Cancer patients often suffer from local tumor recurrence after radiation therapy. Cell cycling, an intricate sequence of events which guarantees high genomic fidelity, has been suggested to affect DNA damage responses and eventual radioresistant characteristics of cancer cells. Here, we established a radioresistant lung cancer cell line, A549R, by exposing the parental A549 cells to repeated ${\gamma}$-ray irradiation with a total dose of 60 Gy. The radiosensitivity of A549 and A549R was confirmed using colony formation assays. We then focused on examination of the cell cycle distribution between A549 and A549R and found that the proportion of cells in the radioresistant S phase increased, whereas that in the radiosensitive G1 phase decreased. When A549 and A549R cells were exposed to 4 Gy irradiation the total differences in cell cycle redistribution suggested that G2-M cell cycle arrest plays a predominant role in mediating radioresistance. In order to further explore the possible mechanisms behind the cell cycle related radioresistance, we examined the expression of Cdc25 proteins which orchestrate cell cycle transitions. The results showed that expression of Cdc25c increased accompanied by the decrease of Cdc25a and we proposed that the quantity of Cdc25c, rather than activated Cdc25c or Cdc25a, determines the radioresistance of cells.

Di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) is an ubiquitous environmental contaminant because of its extensive use in plastics and its persistence. As an environmental endocrine disruptor, it is suspected to interfere with neurodevelopment in people. However, evidence of the effects of maternal DEHP exposure on cerebellar development in offspring is scarce. The objective of this study was to investigate maternal exposure to DEHP and its effect on apoptosis of cerebellar granule cells (CGCs) and related mechanisms. Pregnant Wistar rats were administrated DEHP (0, 30, 300 and 750 mg/kg/d) by gavage from gestational day (GD) 0 to postnatal day (PN) 21. Primary CGCs were also exposed to mono-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (MEHP), the main metabolite of DEHP, for 24 h with concentrations of 0, 25, 100 and 250 μM. The CGCs of male offspring from 300 and 750 mg/kg/d DEHP exposure groups showed significantly increased apoptosis. In addition, the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway was inhibited in the male offspring of the 300 and 750 mg/ kg/d DEHP exposure groups. However, effects on female pups were not obvious. Apoptosis was also elevated and the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway was inhibited after primary CGCs were exposed to MEHP. Furthermore, apoptosis was reduced after treatment with the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway activator, insulin-like growth factor (IGF) 1, and increased after treatment with LY294002, an inhibitor of the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway. These results suggested that maternal DEHP exposure induced apoptosis in the CGCs of male pups via the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway, and the apoptosis could be rescued by IGF1 and aggravated by LY294002.

This paper describes an inductively coupled plasma emission spectrometric method for the analysis of Fe in rat plasma. Calibration curves were obtained in the range of 0.125-1.50 ${\mu}g{\cdot}mL^{-1}$. The relative standard deviation ranges from 5.93% to 6.80%, and accuracy was between 87.6 and 102.0%. Dilution with water had no influence on the performance of the method, which could then be used to quantify Fe concentration in plasma up to 0.50 ${\mu}g{\cdot}mL^{-1}$. The limit of quantification was 0.10 ${\mu}g{\cdot}mL^{-1}$. At this level, the average relative standard deviation was 6.8%. The results indicate that the method meets the accuracy and precision requirements for the pharmacokinetic studies. The Fe concentration in rat plasma was measured and the main pharmacokinetic parameters were calculated by Topfit 2.0 (GmbH. Shering AG, Godecke AG, Germany).
The microRNA-127-3p directly targeting Vamp2 in C2C12 myoblasts

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have been reported that can regulate skeletal muscle growth and development. Previously, we demonstrated that miR-127-3p were differently expressed in skeletal muscle and muscle cells. However, the molecular mechanism of miR-127-3p regulation of skeletal myogenesis are not well elucidated. In this study, we transfected miR-127-3p into C2C12 cells, and found miR-127-3p induces myogenesis by targeting Vamp2. Moreover, the regulatory mechanism of Vamp2 in myoblasts proliferation and differentiation was further confirmed. In conclusion, our data providedevidences that miR-127-3p reciprocally regulated myoblasts proliferation and differentiation through directly targeting Vamp2.

In similarity to graphene, two-dimensional (2D) hexagonal boronnitride (hBN) has some remarkable properties, such as mechanicalrobustness and high thermal conductivity. In addition, hBN has superbchemical stability and it is electrically insulating. 2D hBN has beenconsidered a promising material for many applications in electronics,including 2D hBN based substrates, gate dielectrics for graphenetransistors and interconnects, and electronic packaging insulators. Thispaper reviews the synthesis, transfer and fabrication of 2D hBN films,hBN based composites and hBN-based van der Waals heterostructures. In particular, this review focuses on applications in manufacturingelectronic devices where the insulating and thermal properties of hBNcan potentially be exploited. 2D hBN and related composite systems areemerging as new and industrially important materials, which couldaddress many challenges in future complex electronics devices and systems.

This paper aims to fill the gap in the extensive literature on the results of interaction betweenpublic and private R&D expenditures. Two types of public R&D subsidies, the appropriationsand loan interest, are investigated in the effect of public subsidies by applying for a uniquemicro data set of Chinese manufacturing firms combined with the Innovation Fund forSmall and Medium Technology-based Firms (Innofund). The results are consistent with theprediction that loan interest subsidies based on more competitive selective system are moreeffective for the public R&D subsidies than the appropriations. Firms’ heterogeneity,measured by state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and private-owned enterprises (POEs), is testedfor the different impact of public subsidies on corporate R&D investment. The results showthat the crowding-in effect is mainly driven by POEs, not by SOEs, which confirms thetheoretical assumption by Aghion and Tirole that the agency problem play a dominant rolein corporate R&D activities. An improved econometric method, combined propensity scorematching with difference-in-differences estimation strategy, is applied for correcting theselection bias. Our results are robust to different matching techniques.
