        This study is measure the gap of the surroundings of the medical benefaction and check the problems of it and a reform measure with analysis of the medical benefaction condition of the middle school students in large and small cities and farming and fishing areas. The middle students' problem of the hygiene education and the importance of it was discovered through this study. This study is based upon the data which were answered by the second grade students at middle school in Chung-nam povince. Ⅰ. The findings are as follows; 1. Concentration of the medical facilities and institutions in the cities causes the absence of them in the farming and fishing areas and the student in the fishing and farming areas to have the serious problems that they can not manage and maintain their health. 2. Because the individual student is negligent of the management of his hygiene, he has been attacked with many diseases without relation to the gap of his surroundings. 3. In farming and fishing villages, they are neglected to be treated at the hospital. They mainly depend on folk medicines and household medicines. 4. Only a few students use their school protective institution in spite of shortage of medical facilities in farming and fishing areas. 5. As people in the country as well as in the cities don't join the medical security system in large numbers, they are susceptible to infectious diseases. This runs counter to the improvement of national health. 6. In farming and fishing areas, many students are indifferent to the matter of preservation of health. And they are also in lack of medical facilities. 7. There is all the difference in the benefits of medical treatments be teween town and country. Ⅱ. Proposition Based upon the findings of the study, the following is suggested; 1. As one problem of this study, whether the condition of the health and medical benefaction in the farming and fishing areas influence on the society is questioned. 2. It is necessary to endow them with the time for the hygiene education and to educate them the realistic contents. 3. In order to improve the level of people's healty consciousness it is desirable for the public information of health related to the students and their parents to be preceded and to expand urgently the execution of the medical insurance. 4. Considering the regional speciality, of the lack of the medical facilities and institutions in the farming and fishing area protective rooms are to be used.

      • Neuropeptide γ의 구조 및 생리활성

        생리활성을 지닌 신경펩타이드의 구조와 활성간의 관계를 규명하기 위하여 고상법으로 합성한 세종류의 neuropeptide γ(mammalian-,trout- 그리고 goldfish-neuropeptide γ)를 사용하여 연구하였다. Circular dichroism spectra에 의하면 mammalian-,trout- 와 goldfish-neuropeptide γ는 완충액 조건하에 모두 random한 구조를 나타내었다. 중성 및 산성 지질 존재 하에서, mammalian-과 trout- neuropeptide γ는 여전히 random한 구조를 취하였다. 그러나, goldfish-neuropeptide γ는 중성 및 산성지질하에서 부분적으로 α-helix구조를 나타내었다. 장관 수축활성에 있어서는 carp 장관, guinea-pig 회장 그리고 rat십이지장에 대하여 비교하였다. Carp에 대해서는 goldfish-neuropeptide γ= trout- neuropeptide γ>mammalian-neuropeptide γ순으로 활서이 나타났다. 그러나, guinea-pig 회장과 rat십이지장에 대해서 mammalian-neuropeptide γ는 어류 유래성 neuropeptide g들 보다 높은 수축활성을 나타내었다. 이러한 결과들은 neuropeptide γ들이 종-특이적인 활성을 나타낸다는 것을 제시한다. The relationship between structure and biological activity was studied on the three neuropeptides(mammalian-,trout- and goldfish-neuropeptide γ)that were syntheized by the solid-phase method. Circular dichroism spectra showed that mammalian-,trout- and goldfish-neuropeptide γadopted an undered structure in buffer solution. In the presence od neutral and acidic liposomes, mammalian-and trout- neuropeptide γ also took a random structure. However, goldfish-neuropeptide γ took an α-helical structure in acidic liposomes. The intestinal motility response was investigated with carp interstines, guinea-pig ileums and rat duodenums. In case of carp intestine, contractine activity was as follows:goldfish-neuropeptide γ= trout- neuropeptide γ> mammalian-neuropeptide γ. On the other hand, the contracile activity of mammalian-neuropeptide γ was more potent than trout- and goldfish-neuropeptide γ in the guinea-pig ileums and rat duodenums. these results suggest that neuropeptide γs showed the species-specific activity.

        한국판 Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale의 임상적 적용

        Objectives : The EPDS (Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale) is a lO-items self-report scale designed as a specific instmment to detect postnatal depression by Cox et al. (1987). This study was to determine the optimal cut-offpoint ofthe K-EPDS for postpartum depression in Korea. Methods : The 239 pregnant women assessed their own psychiatric features with the Korean version of the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (K.-EPDS), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) and Marital Satisfaction Scale (MSS) at 6 months ofpregnancy, 1 week after delivery, and 6 weeks after delivery. Subjects above 9 points of K-EPDS at 6 week after delivery were interviewed with Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV Axis I Disorders (SCID-I) to confirm postpartum depression. Results : The prevalence of postpartum depression was 12.6% (30/239 pregnant women) in our study. The total scores of K-EPDS at 6 weeks after delivery were higher significantly than those of nonnal group. The score gap of K-EPDS between the depressed pregnant group and the normal pregnant group was increased after the delivery. However, there were no differences in the epidemiological characteristics and the BDI scores at 6 weeks after delivery between groups. Using the AUC (area under the curve), the optimal point to assess the postpartum depression was revealed as 6 weeks after delivery (AUC=85.8%) or 24 weeks of pregnancy (83.7%). The cut-offpoint of K-EPDS to detect postpartum depression among pregnant women was 9/10score of K-EPDS (AUC= 81.8%). Conclusion : In the K-EPDS, cut-off score of 9/10 was optimal to assess the postpartum depression, and K-EPDS at 6 weeks of delivery was more useful than any other point of time. K-EPDS administrated during pregnancy may be a useful tool to find the vulnerability on the postpartum depression.

        Antioxidant and QR Inductive Activities of Novel Functional Soybean ‘Agakong3’

        In order to evaluate the bioactivity of ‘Agakong3’, which was newly bred, quinone reductase (QR) inductive activity and antioxidant activity were both assessed. The methanol extract of ‘Agakong3’ showed a significantly stronger QR inductive activity than other soybeans. The methanol extract of ‘Agakong3’ also showed a significantly stronger cytotoxicity on hepa1c1c7 than other soybeans. ‘Agakong3’ exhibited the most potent antioxidant activity in the Trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity (TEAC) assay whereas it showed significantly weak antioxidant in the DPPH assay. In total phenol and flavonoid contents, ‘Agakong3’ showed the highest contents regarding phenol and flavonoid compounds. Major isoflavones such as daidzein and genistein were quantitified by high performance liquid chromatography. ‘Agakong3’ also showed the highest total isoflavone contents. Results of correlation analysis showed that there were high correlation coefficients between the contents of isoflavone and TEAC and the contents of isoflavone and QR inductive activity, respectively. These results suggest that ‘Agakong3’ will be a promising and functional food material.

        Development of a LC-MS/MS for Quantification of Venlafaxine in Human Plasma and Application to Bioequivalence Study in healthy Korean Subjects

        A simple, rapid and selective liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (LCMS/MS) is developed and validated for quantification of venlafaxine in human plasma with simpleliquid-liquid extraction step consisted of extraction with ether and dichloromethane for 10 min andmixing with 1 M sodium acetate in human plasma using fluoxetine as an internal standard (IS). Theanalyte are separated using an isocratic mobile phase consisted of acetonitrile and 5 mM ammoniumformate (4/3, v/v) on a isocratic YMC hydrosphere C18 (2.0x50.0 mm, 3.0 μm) column andanalyzed by MS/MS in the multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) mode using the transitions of respective[M+H]+ ions, m/z 278.2→260.3 and m/z 310.1→148.1 for quantification of venlafaxine andIS, respectively. The standard calibration curves showed good linearity within the range of 1.0-200.0ng/mL (r2=0.9986, 1/x2 weighting). The lower limit of quantification (LLOQ) was 1.0 ng/mL. The retentiontimes of venlafaxine and IS were 0.6 min and 0.7 min that means the potential for the highthroughputpotential of the proposed method. In addition, no significant metabolic compoundswere found to interfere with the analysis. Acceptable precision and accuracy were obtained for theconcentrations over the standard curve range. The validated method was successfully applied tobioequivalence study after 75-mg of venlafaxine sustained-release (SR) capsule in 24 healthy Koreansubjects.

        Background : Granular cell tumor(GCT)s are uncommon disease and usually benign neoplasm that can be located at any sites. They are usually found in the oral cavity (40%), skin and subcutaneous tissue (30%), breast (15%), and respiratory tract (15%). But GCTs of the gastrointestinal tract are rare disease especially in the stomach. As endoscopic fi ndings of gastric GCT are similar to that of carcinoid tumor, gastric GCT is diffi cult to distinguish from the carcinoid tumor. Case : A 31-year-old man was referred to our hospital because of gastric subepithelial lesion that diagnosed incidentally at local medical center. On laboratory test, there were no specifi c abnormal fi ndings. At the endoscopy, a less than 10 mm sized, hard subepithelial lesion covered with yellow-whitish mucosa was found in the gastric cardia. (fig. 1) Endoscopic ultrasonography(EUS) showed a 6 x 4 mm sized, smooth, well demarcated, homogeneous hypoechoic solid lesion in 2nd and 3rd layer. (fig. 2) After performing therapeutic endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD), the tumor mainly located in the submucosa, and extended to mucosa. It formed solid nests of cells with abundant eosinophilic granular cytoplasm. Immunochemical stain of resected specimen revealed strong positive for S-100 protein. These are typical fi ndings of granular cell tumor. Conclusion : We report a case of gastric GCT that mimicking the carcinoid tumor, treated by ESD.

        The Effects of Transplanting Time and Meteorological Change to Variation of Phyllochron of Rice

        This study was performed at Rice and Winter Cereal Crops Department of NICS during 2007 and 2008 to investigate the characteristics of rice leaf emergence and to obtain basic data which can be used for rice growth simulation model by which we can forecast rice growth stage and heading date accurately under different cultivars, transplanting date, and climatic conditions. To confirm leaf emergence rate according to rice maturing ecotype, we surveyed the leaf emergence rate and heading date of Unkwangbyeo, Hwayoungbyeo and Nampyeongbyeo which are early maturing, medium maturing and medium-late maturing cultivars, respectively, according to seedling raising duration and transplanting time. When seedling duration was 15 days, the growth duration between transplanting time and completion of flag leaf emergence on main culm were 51.5~78.3 days in Unkwangbyeo, 55.3~87.9 days in Hwayoungbyeo and 58.4~98.4 days in Nampyeongbyeo, respectively. When seedling duration was 30 days, they were 50.1~75.5 days in Unkwangbyeo, 52.4~84.7 days in Hwayoungbyeo and 56.4~93.8 days in Nampyeongbyeo, respectively. As transplanting time delayed, the emerged leaf number after transplanting decreased in all rice cultivars. The cumulative temperature between transplanting time to completion of flag leaf elongation on main culm were $1,281^{\circ}C{\sim}1,650^{\circ}C$ in Unkwangbyeo, $1,344^{\circ}C{\sim}1,891^{\circ}C$ in Hwayoungbyeo and $1,454^{\circ}C{\sim}2,173^{\circ}C$ in Nampyeongbyeo, respectively. Leaf emergence rate on main culm were precisely represented by equation, y = $y_0$ + a / [1 + exp( - (x - $x_0$) / b)]^c, when we used daily mean temperature as variable.

        당뇨병성 말초혈관장애에 대한 Cilostazoe ( Pletaal ) 의 효과

        Peripheral vascular disease is a common complication in diabetes mellitus. Accelerated atherosclerosis leading to impaired circulation in the legs is one of the most important causes of gangrene and amputation. In previous studies, a critically low systolic ankle and toe blood pressure has been shown to indicate a high probability for development of diabetic gangrene. The aim of the presint prospective study was to report the results of the treatment of 200 mg/day Cilostazol which has a vasodilating and antithrombotic action in 30 diabetic patients with peritheral vascular disease. The results were as follows: 1) The score of resting pain, numbness, cold sensation, claudication and granuloma were significantly decreased after Cilostazol treatment for 8 weeks. 2) The ankle pressure index was increased from 0.92±0.21 to 0.96±0.15, after Cilostazol treatment for 8 weeks. The score of arterial palpation and dopler wave were markely improved in both groups after Cilostazol treatment. 3) Facial flushing, headae and chest pain were noted, but geadache and chest pain were dissappeared spontaneously during Cilostazol administration 4) The assessement of overall safety of the drug evaluated by the attending-physician bases on the assessement of $quot;safe$quot; and $quot;almost safe$quot; amounted to 96.7%. The assessment of overall improvement of the deasease made by the attending physician based on the improvement of resting pain, cold sensation, claudication, numbness, ulcer and granuloma indicated that the percent improvement based on the combined assessments of $quot;markedly improved$quot;, $quot;improved$quot; and $quot;slightly improved$quot; amounted to 86.6% 5) Fasting blood sugar, postprandial 2 hour sugar and HbAlc levels were significantly decreased after Cilostazol administration. 6) Before and after Cilostazol treatment, there were no significant differences in physical findings, CBC, blood chemistry, and total cholesterol level. After Cilestazol administration, HDL·cholesterol levels were increased, and triglyceride levels were decreased, but the changes were not statistically significant. Theses results suggest that Cilostazol was useful in the treatment of diabetic peripheral vascular disease accompanied by ischemic symptoms such as resting pain, cold sensation, claudication, numbness, ulcer and granuloma in the extremities.       • Sputtering pressure dependent bolometric properties of Ni<sub>1−x</sub>O thin films for uncooled bolometer applications

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The aim of this study is to investigate the dependence of the sputtering pressure on the bolometric properties of Ni<SUB>1−x</SUB>O films. In order to analyze the structural properties, X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy studies were conducted for Ni<SUB>1−x</SUB>O films deposited at various sputtering pressures. As a result, it was confirmed that all of the films had a Ni-deficient non-stoichiometric structure and that the films deposited at higher sputtering pressures revealed a more crystallized structure with fewer structural defects. The variation of the structural characteristics induced by the sputtering pressure also affected several electrical properties, known as the bolometric properties, including the electrical conductivity, temperature coefficient of resistivity and 1/f noise. With increasing the sputtering pressure from 1mTorr to 10mTorr, the electrical conductivity decreased from 1.0×10<SUP>−2</SUP> S/cm to 2.2×10<SUP>−5</SUP> S/cm while the absolute value of the temperature coefficient of resistivity increased from 2.76%/K to 5.62%/K, respectively. In addition, the magnitude of the 1/f noise also increased with an increase in the sputtering pressure. To evaluate and compare the bolometric performance, we introduced the material figure of merit, (<I>α</I> <SUB> <I>H</I> </SUB>/<I>n</I>)<SUP>1/2</SUP>/|β|, which was determined by both the TCR and the 1/f noise. As a result, the films deposited at a lower sputtering pressure exhibited a lower value of (<I>α</I> <SUB> <I>H</I> </SUB>/<I>n</I>)<SUP>1/2</SUP>/|β|, implying that these films are capable of better bolometric performance. Consequently, this research reveals that the sputtering pressure is an important parameter influencing the bolometer performance capabilities of Ni<SUB>1−x</SUB>O films.</P>
