        본 연구는 균일침전법에 의해 calcite, aragonate, vaterite의 lime(CaC0₃) 분체를 합성하였으며, 출발원료로 CaCl₂와 urea를 이용하였다. Lime의 코팅은 lithium을 이용하여 침전제와 침전제를 사용하지 않고 합성하였으며 출발원료로 Ni(NO₃)₂ㆍ6H₂0와 침전제는 urea(or NaHCO₃, NH₄HCO₃)를 사용하였다. Ni수화물은 수용액계에서 CaC0₃의 표면에 균일하게 코팅이 되었다. Lime표면에 NiO를 코팅함으로서 lime의 성질을 개선시킬 수 있었다. 표면에 코팅된 니켈 수화물은 500℃의 하소 과정에 의해 NiO로 전이되었다. 얻어진 lime분체의 특성은 주사전자현미경(SEM), X-선 회절분석기(XRD), 시차열분석기(DTA), EDS 등을 이용하여 조사하였다. Lime(CaC0₃) powders were prepared by the homogeneous precipitation method using CaC1₂, urea as the starting materials. Uniform lime(calcite, aragonite, vatrite) powders were obtained by various conditions. The surfaces of lime were modified by coating them with an lithium precursor using two different precipitation techniques: homogeneous decomposition of precipitating agents(urea, NaHCO₃, NH₄HC03) and forced hydrolysis in pure water. Selecting the Ni(NO₃)₂ㆍ6H₂O and urea(or NaHCO₃, NH₄HC0₃) as Ni-source and precipitating agent respectively, the NiO could be uniformly coated on the CaCO₃ powder in the aqueous system. The coating NiO layer dominated the surface properties of the coated lime powders. Calcination of these nickel hydroxide crystals in air at 500℃ transformed them into NiO. Scanning electron microscopy(SEM), X-ray diffractiometry, differential thermal analysis(DTA), and EDS were used to characterize the coated powders.

        In order to investigate the relationship between methylated amino acids and diabetes, we investigated the changes of serum concentration of methylated amino acids in serum of the experimentally induced diabetic rats. The diabetic symptom was induced by injectly alloxan 100 mg/kg intraperitoneally. The serum content of N^G-monomethylarginine(MMA), N^G, N^G-dimethyl-arginine(DMA) and N^G, N^G-dimethylarginine(D'MA) were analyzed by HPLC. The results are as followings ① There was no change in serum content of MMA in the diabetic group. ② But it was observed that the amounts of DMA and D'MA were increased remarkably in the diabetic group. Specifically, D'MA content was increased about 7 times in comparision to that of the control group. ③ However, the concentration of trimethyllysine in RBC was decreased slightly in diabetic group but not significant statistically.

        In addition to the development of functional cosmetics, technology to increase percutaneous absorption rate when applied to the skin is an important task. In this experiment, oleic acid was used as a skin absorption promoter, and its effect on transdermal permeability of adenosine was studied and analyzed using a skin-like membrane. As a result of the experiment, it was investigated that the permeability coefficient and concentration of adenosine are proportional to the content of oleic acid. This indicates that a high proportion of oleic acid is effective as a skin absorption promoter.

        The volume of sewage increases as the population grows and the standard of living rises, and also varies in direct proportion to the volume of available water supply. Present1y(at the end of 1998), the sewage treatment ratio is 60%, and 85 facilities are woiking for sewage treatment While sewage treatment plant has been constructed in large cities and heavily industrialized cities, the most treatment plant employ one type of process, i.e. activated sludge process, which may not be desirable for some cities in economical point of view and also in terms of process optimization. Moreover, poor sewer systems resulted in lower strength influet than the designed strength. In this study, to develop a proper process for treating low strength sewage several existing sewage treatment plants were diagnosed. A continuously contacted sequencing batch reactor composed of pre-anoxic contact zone and intermittently aerated zone was operated for biological nitrogen removal. The removal efficiencies of organic matter (SCOD) and total nitrogen (T-N) were 89% and about 60% at the TCOD/T-N ratio as low as 6.0, respectively.

        시차주사열량분석기를 이용한 치과용 접착시멘트의 경화기전 및 반응열에 관한 연구

        The working time of dental cement has a close relation with the setting time, where the setting reaction can be said as the result of the chemical reaction between cement liquid and powder. The purpose of this experiment was to investigate the setting characteristics and setting rate of dental cements by measuring the exothermic heat(Joule/gram) from the setting reaction at specified times using a differential scanning calorimeter (Differential Scanning Calorimeter, DSC 204, TASC 414/3A Controller, Netzche, Germany). Graphs of time-exothermic heat at 37℃ isothermal condition, showing the setting reaction of dental cements were plotted. Three types of luting cements studied were zinc-phosphate cement (ZPC), polycarboxylate cement (PCC), and glass ionomer cement (GIC). The effects of powder-liquid ratio on the setting characteristics of cements were also included. The amount of heat (calory) released per one gram of cement was calculated at each specified time, and was analyzed. ANOVA and Scheff's multiple comparison test (p=0.05) were used for statistical analysis using SPSS/PC+. The setting rate of cement was not constant during the setting reaction, and different setting characteristics were observed depending on the type of cement and powder/liquid ratio. Generally, 70∼90% of the setting reaction, measured by the exothermic heat release, occurred within 5 minutes after mixing. The exothermic heat released by ZPC was very high immediately after mixing, and the duration of the heat release was prolonged compared with other cements. The exothermic heat release of PCC finished most rapidly. It was generally observed that the amount of heat release (rise in temperature) per one gram of cement was highest for ZPC, followed by GIC, and then PCC. However, heat release during the first 2∼5 minutes after mixing was highest for GIC, followed by ZPC and then PCC. According to the Scheff's multiple comparison test, the duration of the total setting reaction did not show any significant difference among the cements(p>0.05), and also among the different power/liquid ratio groups(p>0.05). It was observed that more heat was released with the lower powder/liquid ratio than the higher powder/liquid ratio.

        분무 열분해에 의한 Ba1-xSrxFe12O19계 자성 미립자의 제조 및 특성 변화

        Magnetic particles with alternating magnetic field are expected to be useful as thermoseeds in hyperthermic cancer treatment, since they can be targeted and confined to the cancer site. Hard magnetic ferrites such as barium ferrite and strontium ferrite are good candidates for thermoseeds of hyperthermia because of their great hysteresis loss. In order to verify the effect of Sr-substitution to Ba-site, synthesized Ba1-xSrxFe12O19 microspheres with various compositions through spray pyrolysis followed by sol synthesis using barium nitrate, strontium acetate and iron nitrate. Coercive force was increased with increasing substitution amount of Sr whereas magnetic saturation was almost constant. Spherical microspheres with average diameter of 11.7~17.0 ㎛ were produced by spray pyrolysis at 400~1000℃. The mean size was dependent on the pyrolysis temperature and flow rate of carrier gas. In order to obtain a single phase of SrFe12O19 crystal, the spray pyrolyzed spheres were undertaken subsequent heat-treatment above 1000℃. During the subsequent heat-treatment, however, spherical microspheres were agglomerated because of necking between particles. Further study has to be continued working on synthesis of pure SrFe12O19 crystal by means of improvement of pyrolysis temperature scheme and extend the heating period.
