용액 중합에 의한 전도성 Poly(amide)/Polypyrrole 복합체의 제조와 그 전기적 성질
박연흠,안찬호,한명희 成均館大學校 科學技術硏究所 1993 論文集 Vol.44 No.1
Poly(amide)/Polypyrrole composite films were prepared by solution ploymerization method. The films obtained by this method exhibited high conductivities. After polymerization of pyrrole for 1 hr, composite films showed the conductivity as high as 10^-3∼10^-2 S/cm and it increased with increasing the concentration of oxidizing agent. The stability of conductivity to ambient air exposure was excellent. As the result of the thermal characterization of composite films by TGA, we found that the composite film was thermally stable.

Pelvic actinomycosis is a chronic granulomatous suppurative disease caused by an anaerobic grampositive organism Actinomyces israelii. It is com-monly associated with an intrauterine device(IUD) and can mimick pelvic or intra-abdominal malignant neoplasm. Ureteral obstruction leading to hydronephrosis is a rare complication of tubo-ovarian abscess. We experienced a case of hydronephrosis as a complication of pelvic actinomycotic abscess. The patient was a 46-year-old women presenting with fever and right flank pain. Leukocytosis and pyuria were present and a hydronephrosis was diagnosed by intravenous pyelography. Ultrasonography and a computerised tomography revealed a mass in right adnexum compressing the right ureter. Removal of retroperitoneal abscess and salphingo-oophorectomy were done and the diagnosis of actinomycosis was made by pathologic finding of resected mass. Postoperatively, the patient was treated with second-generation cephalosporin successfully. (Korean J Nephrol 2002;21(2):337-340)

Transmandibular implants are used limitedly such as on remaining symphyseal basal bone of atrophic mandible, on the bony defect of symphyseal area due to trauma or tumor as surgical implants. Among the more recent advances in oral implantology are the Fixed Mandibular Implant (FMI)based on the pioneering studies and clinical applications by Irwin Small of the USA and the development very high success rates for providing attachments and abutments in areas of the oral cavity severely compromised by either atrophy or surgical loss of osseous tissues. We will present a case report of regabilitation of totally edentulous mandible with advanced alveolar atrophy using Fixed Mandibular implant (F.M.I).

Objectives: This study was performed to find the association of cigarette smoking and blood lipid profiles in healthy young adults. Methods: The data was collected by a self-administered questionnaire and health examination in 489 professional soldiers from 6 to 12 May, 2004. The status of cigarette smoking was classified by non-smoking, ex-smoked, ≤4.9, 5-9.9, and ≥10 pack-years. The statistical analysis were used by chi-square test, analysis of variance and analysis of covariates. Results: In status of subjects cigarette smoking, current smoking, ex-smoked, and non-smoking were 71.8%, 11.2%, and 17.0%, respectively, In distribution by amount of smoking, non-smoking, ex-smoked, ≤4.9 pack-years, 5-9.9 pack-years, and ≥10 pack-years were 17.0%, 11.2%, 37.4%, 21.3%, and 13.1%, respectively. At other confounding variables were controlled, total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol were increased significantly when amount of smoking was increased. However, triglyceride and HDL-cholesterol did not showed statistically significant differences, Conclusion: Smoking has relevant to total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol and it is need to perform the further study for finding how blood lipid profiles are affected its level by cigarette smoking and to find an influence of cigarette smoking on cardiovascular disease.
FDG Uptake in PET by Bladder Hernia Simulating Inguinal Metastasis
Park, Sung Hee,Kim, Myeong-Jin,Kim, Joo Hee,Cho, Arthur Eung-Hyuck,Park, Mi-Suk,Kim, Ki Whang Yonsei University College of Medicine 2007 Yonsei medical journal Vol.48 No.5
<P>A 70-year-old man with past history of hemicolectomy due to colon cancer underwent a follow-up abdominal/pelvic CT scan. CT revealed a right adrenal metastasis and then he underwent FDG-PET/CT study to search for other possible tumor recurrence. In PET images, other than right adrenal gland, there was an unexpected intense FDG uptake at right inguinal region and at first, it was considered to be an inguinal metastasis. However, correlation of PET images to concurrent CT data revealed it to be a bladder herniation. This case provides an example that analysis of PET images without corresponding CT images can lead to an insufficient interpretation or false positive diagnosis. Hence, radiologists should be aware of the importance of a combined analysis of PET and CT data in the interpretation of integrated PET/CT and rare but intriguing conditions, such as bladder herniation, during the evaluation of PET scans in colon cancer patients.</P>

<P>In this article, we are prepared that the liquid crystal dimers have aromatic-ester type mesogenic units or aromatic-Schiff base typemesogonic units and confirmed by H-1-NMR spectrometry. The mesomorphic and optical properties of the resultant dimers were studied by differential scanning calorimetry and polarizing optical microscopy.</P>

<P><B>Objective</B></P><P>To determine the optimal threshold for the attenuation values in unenhanced computed tomography (CT) and assess the value of the size criteria for differentiating between an adrenal adenoma and a nonadenoma.</P><P><B>Materials and Methods</B></P><P>The unenhanced CT images of 45 patients at our institution, who underwent a surgical resection of an adrenal masses between January 2001 and July 2005, were retrospectively reviewed. Forty-five adrenal masses included 25 cortical adenomas, 12 pheochromocytomas, three lymphomas, and five metastases confirmed by pathology were examined. The CT images were obtained at a slice thickness of 2 mm to 3 mm. The mAs were varied from 100 to 160 and 200 to 280, while the 120 KVp was maintained in all cases. The mean attenuation values of an adrenal adenoma and nonadenoma were compared using an unpaired <I>t</I> test. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, and accuracy at thresholds of 10 HU, 20 HU, and 25 HU were compared. The diagnostic accuracy according to the size criteria from 2 cm to 6 cm was also compared.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>The twenty-five adenomas showed significantly lower (<I>p</I> < 0.05) attenuation values(mean ± SD; 16.3 ± 14.9) than the nonadenomas (38.1 ± 6.8). Nineteen (90%) of the 20 nonadenomas had attenuation values ranging from 30 to 50 HU. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, and accuracy for diagnosing adenomas were 36%, 100%, 100%, 56%, and 64%, respectively, at a threshold of 10 HU; 60%, 100%, 100%, 67%, and 78%, respectively, at a threshold of 20 HU; and 72%, 95%, 95%, 73%, and 82%, respectively, at a threshold of 25 HU. The adenomas had a significantly (<I>p</I> < 0.05) smaller diameter (2.44 ± 1.24 cm) than the nonadenomas (5.09 ± 2.37 cm). The size criteria using a diameter of 4-6 cm showed a sensitivity > 90% but a specificity < 70%. Size criteria of 2 or 3 cm had a high specificity of 100% and 80% but a low sensitivity of 20% and 60%.</P><P><B>Conclusion</B></P><P>The threshold attenuation values of 20 or 25 HU in the unenhanced CT appear optimal for discriminating an adrenal adenoma from a nonadenoma. The size criteria are of little value in differentiating adrenal masses because of their low specificity or low sensitivity.</P>
