      • 강릉수력발전소 발전수 방류 전후의 남대천 수질과 미생물 분포

        강릉수력발전소의 발전수 방류가 강릉 남대천의 수질 및 미생물 분포에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 정점 3 상류지역의 발전수 방류는 수질에 상당한 영향을 끼쳐 정점 3 및 정점 4의 수질은 악화되고 정점 5, 정점 6 및 정점 7의 수질은 개선되었다. 미생물 분포도 이와 유사하여 정점 3 및 정점 4의 세포수는 상당히 증가한 반면 정점 5, 정점 6 및 정점 7에서는 대체적으로 감소하였다. 이 결과로 미루어보아 강릉수력발전소의 발전수는 희석효과에 의해 수질 및 미생물 분포를 변화시키는 것으로 사료된다. The effects of water discharged from Kangnung hydropower plant on the water quality and some bacterial population of Namdaecheon Stream, Kangnung were investigated. The water discharged above station 3 affected the water quality significantly; the water quality of station 3 and station 4 took a turn for the worse, however those of station 5, station 6 and station 7 changed for the better. It was also true with the bacterial population; The number of cells of bacteria increased in station 3 and 4, but the number significantly decreased in station 5, station 6, and station 7. The data suggested the idea that the water discharged from Kangnung hydropower plant changed the water quality and some bacterial population by dilution effect.

        벌꿀 및 당액의 혼합비에 따른 수분활성도 예측

        In order to distinguish the honey in the market whether it is real or not simply and conviniently, the changes of water activity was investigated due to the addition of starch syrup and sucrose solution to the honeys such as Korean, Acacia, Chestnut and Mixed. The regression equations were obtained to predict the water activity of the honeys. In general, the honey was below 21% in moisture, below 0.6% in ash, 420 to 710cP in the viscosity, 0.57 to 0.62 in the water activity and 77 to 80brix in sugar content. The water activity of the samples were higher as the quantity of starch syrup and sucrose solution added increased. Starch syrup was more influence than sucrose solution. The regression equations between water activity and starch syrup concentration of honeys were obtained and R^2 value were higher than 0.90.

      • 하중을 전달하는 강평판내에서의 응력집중 및 설계에 관한 고찰

        Many kinds of steel plates are used for the purpose of load supporting or transition of the load direction in the heavy instruments of construction engineering. In this paper, the stress analysis for two kinds of plates which are currently used as a member of construction instrument in some company is performed by using the Finite Element Method. The equivalent stresses of von Mises yield criterion are computed to check where the large stress concentrations are located, and whether the plastic deformation is occured or not because yielding is not desirable in real applications. At the end of paper, some discussions about the reduction of stress concentrations and better design are provided.

        In this paper, two-dimensional elasto-plastic problems are numerically analysed and compared with the other numerical, experimental and theoretical solutions in some enigineering respects. For that, based on Yamada et. al.'s formulation, extended programs are developed using isoparametric quadratic quadrilateral element rather than linear triangular element as in their formulation. Varying elasto-plastic matrices are introduced and small varying increments of load sufficient to just cause yield in the successive elements are used. Isotropic homogeneous material property and small deformation are assumed to develope the numerical plasticity. Presented examples in smple or complex geometry are solved under the condition of plane stress of plane strain with strain hardening or non-strain hardening material, respectively, to obtain the stress distributions and plastic enclaves.

      • Comparison of non-isulated microneedle and noninvasive fractional radiofrequency device for skin rejuvenation in an animal mode

        Background: Radiofrequency (RF) devices of various delivery systems have been reported to be clinically effective in treating various dermatologic conditions. Howevere, there are few histological studies for identifying mechanism and therapeutic effect. Objectives: To evaluate histologic change and compare wound repair after radiofrequency irradiation to non-invasive bipolar fractional radiofrequency (FRF) and non-insulated microneedle bipolar FRF. Methods: We irradiated the skin of an albino rat (Sprague-Dawley, 200∼250 g) using a non-invasive bipolar FRF and a non-insulated microneedle bipolar FRF device. Biopsy specimens of the irradiated skin were collected on the first, third, seventh and fourteenth day after irradiation. For histological analysis, the skin samples were stained with hematoxylin and eosin and Masson’s trichrome. Results: After non-invasive bipolar FRF irradiation, the skin sample showed epidermal ablation and pyramidal shape of dermal heat damage zone. In contrast, non-insulated microneedle bipolar FRF made coagulation column around needle without epidermal damage. Conclusion: Both radiofrequency devices make heat damage on collagen, but there are difference in pattern of damage. We confirmed that radiofrequency irradiated by microneedle, although that was non-insulated, didn’t make damage in epidermis, when irradiated in very short time. In addition, pulsed-type radiofrequecy irradiation gave damage to perivascular area of upper dermis.

      • Primary cutaneous melanoma: Clinico-pathologic features and prognostic factors, A retrospective multicenter observational cohort study in Korea, 1997-2017

        Background: Malignant melanoma is the cutaneous malignancies that shows high mortality rates and high potential of metastases. Detailed information on characteristics and prognostic factors is limited in Korea. Objectives: We aimed to display the epidemiological and clinicopathologic characteristics of primary cutaneous melanoma and also assessed which prognostic variables could influence the development of metastases in primary cutaneous melanoma and their overall survival (OS). Methods: Patients diagnosed with primary cutaneous melanoma between 1997 and 2017 were retrospectively investigated about the clinical presentation, localization of the tumor, hisotopathological subtypes and survival period. Results: The analysis showed nodular histologic subtype, ulceration and Breslow thickness of primary cutaneous melanoma were significantly associated with the development of metastasis and had a significant risk of greater Breslow thickness. The location of metastases seemed to influence on the OS of primary cutaneous melanoma: brain metastases showed the highest death risk, followed by gastro-intestinal, lung and extra-regional lymph node metastasis. Conclusion: Our study found the predictors of metastatic spread of primary cutaneous melanoma were tumor thickness, nodular histology subtype and ulceration. The OS of primary cutaneous melanoma was associated the location of metastases. Clinicians should make a diagnosis with these factors in mind because of the risk of poor prognosis.

        귀신환(歸腎丸)이 백서(白鼠)의 배란(排卵)과 난소(卵巢)에 미치는 영향(影響)

        Purpose: This study is to examine what are the effects of the Guisinhwan(GSH) on the ovulation and ovary in rats. Methods: 4weeks Female Sprague-Dawley 12 rats of weighting 160-180g, were divided into three groups including the GSH oral administration(4㎖/㎏) groups(4heads) and GSH oral administration(8㎖/㎏) groups(4heads). Then we observed changes in the serum concentrations of FSH, LH, and estradiol(E2) and the histological changes of ovary and the immunohistochemical staining for progesterone receptor in ovary of rats. Results: 1. GSH didn`t make a difference as compared with control group in serum FSH level. 2. GSH didn`t make a difference as compared with control group in serum LH level. 3. GSH significantly increased serum E2 level. 4. GSH significantly increased ovulation in histological observations of ovary. 5. GSH tended to decrease immunohistochemical staining score (ISS) of atretic follicles in immunohistochemical staining for progesterone receptor in ovary. Conclusion: GSH influences ovary to increase the ovulation of rats.

        가족성 해면혈관종에서 염색체 7q CCM1 염기서열의 가족간 연관성 분석

        Although the pathogenesis of cerebral cavernous malformation (CCM) is unknown, a familial predisposition has been recognized, with up to 55% of patients having an affected relatives. Genetic linkage studies have recently mapped a gene causing CCM to a segment of the long arm of chromosome 7 (7q). We report herein a genetic linkage analysis conducted on a Korean three generation family with CCM. It’s first report in Korean family. A Korean family in which one member had undergone surgery for intracerebral hematoma (ICH) and confirmed the CCM, was evaluated. They were examined clinically (n=18) and by magnetic resonance (MR) imaging (n=10). Polymorphic markers (D7S1813, D7S1789) spanning the CCM1 locus on 7q were genotyped by the polymerase chain reaction and analysis of linkage was performed in this family (n=17). Six had multiple lesions on brain MR image, one of them being symptomatic, and five were asymptomatic. Seven remaining members were asymptomatic and refused MR image study. One had died of ICH from presumed CCM. Analysis of the pedigree was consistent with an autosomal dominant pattern of inheritance. All affected patients were linked to CCM1. Linkage to CCM1 can account for inheritance of CCM in this family.They had some striking features with a low clinical penetrance and the presence of multiple lesions. These findings have implications for genetic testing of this disorder and represent an important step toward identification of the gene responsible for the pathogenesis of this disease.

        Effects of Lowering Dialysate Calcium Concentrations on Arterial Stiffness in Patients Undergoing Hemodialysis

        Background/Aims: We assessed changes in hemodynamic and arterial stiffness parameters following reductions of dialysate calcium concentrations in patients undergoing hemodialysis. Methods: In this prospective study, 20 patients on maintenance hemodialysis (10 females, 10 males) with dialysate calcium concentrations of 1.75 mmol/L were enrolled. At the start of the study, the dialysate calcium level was lowered to 1.50 mmol/L. Serial changes in biochemical, hemodynamic, and arterial stiffness parameters, including pulse wave velocity (PWV) and augmentation index (AIx), were assessed every 2 months for 6 months. We also examined changes in the calcification-inhibitory protein, serum fetuin-A. Results: During the 6-month study period, serum total calcium and ionized calcium decreased consistently (9.5 ± 1.0 to 9.0 ± 0.7, p = 0.002 vs. 1.3 ± 0.1 to 1.1 ± 0.1, p = 0.035). Although no apparent changes in blood pressure were observed, heart-femoral PWW (hf-PWV) and AIx showed significant improvement (p = 0.012, 0.043, respectively). Repeatedmeasures ANOVA indicated a significant effect of lowering dialysate calcium on hf-PWV (F = 4.58, p = 0.004) and AIx (F = 2.55, p = 0.049). Accompanying the change in serum calcium, serum fetuin-A levels significantly increased (95.8 ± 45.8 pmol/mL at baseline to 124.9 ± 82.2 pmol/mL at 6 months, p = 0.043). Conclusions: Lowering dialysate calcium concentration significantly improved arterial stiffness parameters, which may have been associated with upregulation of serum fetuin-A.
