Expression of the IKr components KCNH2 (rERG) and KCNE2 (rMiRP1) during late rat heart development

To understand molecular mechanisms that regulate formation and maintenance of cardiac IKr (rapidly activating component of the delayed rectifier K+ curent), we have investigated the spatiotemporal expresion patern of two rat po-tassium voltage-gated channels, namely sub-family H (eag-related), member2 (KCNH2) (alias name: rERG) and Isk-related family, member2 bryonic development by means of the in situ hybridization technique. KCNE2 is transcribed predominantly in atrial und ventricular myocar-dium at stages E14.5-E18.5dpc and only a minor signal emerged in the tongue at E16.5dpc. In contrast, KCNH2 transcripts appeared in a les confined patern with intense signals in atrial and ventricular myocardium, somites, spinal cord, bowel system, central nervous system and thymus at stages E14.5-E18.5dpc. Non-cardiac expresion even exceeds the intensity of the cardiac signal, indicating that KCNH2 contri-butes to K+ curents in non-cardiac tisue as well. Transcription of the rat β-subunit KCNE2 is present in all regions of the fetal myocardium and co-distributes perfectly with transcription of the pore forming α-subunit KCNH2. It seems likely that KCNH2 and KCNE2 are linked to form cardiac IKr channels, asociated to cardiogene-sis and cardiomyocyte excitability.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the correlation of alcohol use disorder, social support and depression of the college students. Method: In this descriptive design study, 334 university students were recruited through convenient sampling from October, 2015 to January, 2016. Questionnaires used for online Google docs were AUDIT-K(Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test-Korea), MSPSS(Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support) and SDS(Self - Rating Depression Scale). Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one way ANOVA with Scheffe's test, and Pearson’s coefficient using SPSS 22.0 program. Result: 230 students of the 334 college students(68.8%) were classified into alcohol use disorder group. There was a significant correlation between the degree of social support and depression among all participants(r=-.45, p=.000). However, there was no correlation between alcohol use disorder and depression(r=.23, p=.006) and between alcohol use disorder and social support(r=.02, p=.758). Conclusion: This study showed a relationship between social support and depression, not the alcohol use disorder. This result can be used as the basic data in nursing research about alcohol use disorder, social support and depression of college students. Also, Further researches are needed to examine the factors that affect alcohol use disorder of college students, as well as depression and social support.

Five varieties of sweetpotatoes recommended in Korea were investigated with respect to the storing rapacity, resin content and the possibility of developing sweetpotato chips as a new processed food item. The results are summarized as follows: 1) Two varieties, Suwon No. 147 and Chun-Mi were more resistant to chilling injury and soft-rot decay than other varieties. 2) The contents of resinous and polyghenolic substances were quite different depending upon the variety. 3) Sweetpotato chips of different color were made from different varieties and rapeseed oil was found to be the best as frying oil. 4) Best conditions to prepare sweetpotato chips with fresh color and proper texture were to dip slices of 1-2 ㎜ thickness in 0.25% sodium bisulfite solution at 40℃ for 30-40 minutes and to subject to deep frying in an oil bath at 150-160℃ for 2.5 to 3.5 minutes. 5) Polyethylene-cellophane film as packing material of sweetpotato chips was the best in the moisture proof and film-impact tests.

The electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide to produce alcohols and hydrocarbons has been examined on Cu/PTFE-bonded gas diffusion electrodes. The highest faradaic efficiencies for carbon monoxide, methante, ethylene, methanol and ethanol were 19.3, 12.4, 8.7, 7.3 and 3.8%, respectively. The faradaic efficiency and selectivity for the reduction products were dependent on operating conditions. Best results were found in -2.0 V vs. SCE and KHCO₃ electrolyte.

<P>Reaction of copper(II) chloride dihydrate in methanol with deprotonated 3,5-diisopropylpyrazole-1-methanol (dippmOH) led to the tetranuclear copper(II) complex [(dippmO)CuCl](4) (1). The crystal structure of 1 indicates that two copper(II) ions connect via the oxygen atoms of dippmO(-) ligands each other in which two dimeric units are formed. Furthermore, one of the coordinated oxygen atoms in a dimer is bonded to an adjacent copper(II) ion positioned other dimer, which gives rise to a stepped tetranuclear structure. 1 shows strong antiferromagnetic interactions through the oxo groups within the dimeric units (J(1) = 239 cm(-1)) and weak antiferromagnetic couplings between the dimers (J(2) = 15 cm(-1)). Generation of Transgenic Mice Overexpression Mouse RESISTIN

The hormone resistin is associated with typeII diabetes mellitus in rodent model. Resistin impairs glucose tolerance and insulin action. A new class of anti-diabetic drugs were called thiazolidinediones (TZDs) downregulates a resistin which is induced during adipocyte differentiation. But the connection between increased adiposity and resistin remains unknown. The objectives of this study was to clone a mouse resistin cDNA and to generate transgenic mice overexpressing mouse resistin gene. The 555 bp of mouse resistin was amplified from mob cDNAS by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and cloned into pCR(R)/ 2.1 TOPO T-vector. Mouse resistin mRNA on the basis of Genbank sequence (acession no. AF323080). Then, the PCR product was cloned into pTargeTTM/ mammalian expression vector that has pCMV promoter and chimeric intron. Restriction enzyme analysis with BamH I and Not I was carried out to determine an orientation of the insert in the vector. The pCMV-mus/resistin gene was prepared from previous recombinant pTargeTTM/-mus/resistin by digestion of Bgl II, and has used for microinjection into pronuclei of one cell embryos. The microinjected embryos were transfered to pseudopregnant foster-mother. Mouse resistin expression was detected in transgenic F1 mice by Reverse Transcriptase- Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR). Resistin gene expression mouse has heavier body weight which was measured higher level of plasma glucose than that of normal mouse. And in diet-induced experiments, the abdominal fat pads were isolated from each 24h starvation and re-feeding after fasting group mice that were assessed by RT-PCR analysis. In fasting group mice, resistin expression was higher than that of re-feeding group mice. This result suggests that the resistin gene overexpressing mice may be became to obesity and be useful as an animal disease model to be diabetes mellitus caused by insulin resistance of resistin.
Composition-Dependent Crystal Structure and Magnetism in Nanocrystalline Co-Rich Alloy

<P>We report the magnetism of a ferromagnetic two phase mixture system by investigating the microstructural evolution and relevant property changes as a function of alloy composition in CoFeSiB film. The crystal structure evolved from an amorphous to <I>hcp</I> Co nanocrystal embedded two-phase mixture when Co concentration exceeded the critical amount (~75 at.%) confirmed through TEM and XRD. Very low coercivity value was observed in the amorphous samples. The soft magnetic properties are due to the fact that the magnetic moments of Co-rich phase are exchange-coupled via the amorphous matrix, as a consequence the magnetic anisotropies are averaged out in the amorphous system. Meanwhile, beyond 75 at.% of Co, an abrupt increase in coercivity was observed in the nanocrystalline samples where highly anisotropic Co nanocrystals were precipitated. The hard magnetic properties resulted from the magnetic decoupling (breaking of the nanocrystal-amorphous matrix-nanocrystal coupling chain) because the exchange forces are not able to overcome the magnetocrystaline anisotropy. We also found that antiferromagnetic exchange coupling existed at the nanocrystal-amorphous matrix interfaces.</P>
