      • 소음성 청력장애에 관한 조사연구

        부산지역 일부 섬유, 고무 및 제강 산업장의 소음 작업부서 종사 근로자들중 6분법에 의한 청력장애(21dB이상)자는 조사대상의 6.30%이었다. Authors surveyed on the status of prevalence and several characters related with the occurrence of noise induced hearing impairment on 2,963 numbers of workers engaged in noisy department of twelve industries which were Textile, Rubber and Steel-Wire in Busan from July 1st, 1980 to September 30th, 1981. The obtained results were as follows: 1.About 90 percent of workers in noisy department engaged in the place of noise level less than 100dB(A). 2.The prevalence of occupational healing loss of workers engaged in noisy department by each level of hearing loss was respectively 5.43 percent at 21dB and above. 2.53 percent at 31dB and above, 0.80 percent at 41dB and above. 3.Workers of noise induced hearing impairment showed typical Cs-dip in Audiogram. 4.About 80 percent and above of workers of noise induced hearing impairment determined hearing loss of 40dB and below. 5.Hearing loss of workers of noise induced hearing impairment increased with aging. 6.Hearing loss of workers of noise induced hearing impairment was in accordance with the duration of employment in 7 years and below. 7.The occurred rate of noise induced hearing impairment using ELI(Early Loss Index) was about 92 percent(D-E scale).

      • Freloxacin과 Ciprofloxacin의 호기성 그람음성 간균에 대한 시험관내 항균력

        Fleroxacin is a fluorinated 4-quinolone compound with broad specturm activity. In this study the antibacterial activities of fleroxacin and ciprofloxacin against Enterobacteriaceae, Pseudmonas and Acinetobacter anitratus isolated in 1988-89 from patients of Severance Hospital were tested by the agar dilution method. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MCIs) of fleroxacin were 2㎍/ml against Enterobacteriacease except for a few isolates of Klebsiella pneumoniae. The MICs were 16㎍/ml against Pseudomonas and 4㎍/ml against A.anitratus. The MICs of fleroxacin were slightly higher than those of ciprofloxacin, but the frequencies of sucseptibility of Enterobacteriaceae against fleroxacin and ciprofloxacin were the same. 6-20% of Pseudomonas, depending on the species, and none of A. anitratus were resistant to fleroxacin. From this in vitro study, fleroxacin can be considered to be a useful drug for the treatment of infections due to aerobic gram-negative bacilli.

        Ti-6Al-4V 합금의 내부 미소결함에 따른 초음파 신호 특성 연구

        Ti합금은 고온환경에서 고강도가 요구되는 항공기의 엔진 부품등의 소재로 적용되고 있다. Ti합금은 이와 같이 기계적 성능이 우수함에도 불구하고 α상과 β상의 조성에 의한 두 상의 띠세 구조에 의한 초음파 산란으로 초음파를 이용한 비파괴 평가에서 피로균열 검출이 어려운 단점이 있다. 합금내의 결정립에서 산란되는 초음파 신호에 의하여 결함이 존재하지 않는 경우에도 산란 신호가 검출되는 결정립 산란 잡음 신호가 존재하며, 이들 결정립 산란 잡음신호는 합금내부에 존재하는 기공 및 불순물 등의 결함 검출을 어렵게 하는 요인이다. 본 연구에서는 Ti합금의 효율적인 초음파를 이용한 비파괴 평가의 적용을 위하여 Ti합금 시험편에 대하여 초음파 전파속도 측정 및 미세 드릴 가공에 의한 인공 결함의 검출능 평가 등을 수행하였다. Ti alloy is used for essential parts of aircraft for high temperature environment. Although Ti alloy has excellent performance in regard to mechanical properties, it is difficult to find fatigue cracks by nondestructive ultrasonic inspection due to its two-phase microstructure, which consists of hard alpha and beta phases. Sound energy reflected from microstructural features in the component produces a background inspection noise which is seen even when no defects are present. This noise can inhibit the detection of critical internal defects such as pores cracks or inclusions. To obtain fundamental data on ultrasonic inspection of Ti alloy, ultrasonic testing was performed using a specimen with small drill holes and ultrasonic wave propagation velocities were measured.

      • 부산지역 공무원 및 교직원의 당뇨병에 관한 역학적 조사연구

        조사대상자(공무원 및 교직원) 4,755명에 대한 당뇨병의 유병율은 2.9%(남 3.0%, 여 2.5%)이었으며 연령이 높을수록, 남자에서, 그리고 비만자의 경우, 당뇨병의 유병율이 각각 고율이었다 (P<0.05) Authors surveyed on the prevalence rate of diabetes and several factors related with the occurrence of diabetes on 4,755 numbers of public officials and school personnels in Busan for one year from July, 1982. The obtained results were as follows: 1.The prevalence rate of diabetes among total aubjects was 2.9% (Male 3.0%, Female 2.5%, and it was gradually increased with aging (P < 0.05). 2.The positive rate of lasting urine sugar was 2.7% among total subjects, and the negative rate of diabetic group was 78.3%. 3.The rate of obesity (120% and over of standard body weights in diabetic group wart higher than normal (P<0.05). 4.Among 76 diabetics, 58 (76.3%) numbers were 110mg/dl and over in postprandial 2 hour blood sugar level.

      • 1979~1983년에 분리된 장염세균의 균종과 항균제 감수성

        Salmonella typhi and Shigella are frequently isolated enteric pathognes in Korea. Recent improvement of environmental hygiene is expected to reduce these infections. Campylobacter jejuni and Yersinia enterocclitica are recently recognized enteric pathogens frequetly isolated in some parts of the world. In this study, stool culture results at Yonsei Medical Center during 1979~1983 were analyzed. The proportion of S. typhi was decreasing while S. enteritidis increasing. The proportion of S. flexneri serovar 2 was slightly decreasing while serovar 1 increasing. C. jejuni and Y. enterocclitica were isolated, but not frequently. Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli remained to be frequently isolated. Antimicrobial resistance problem was not present with salmonella and C. jejuni, but was a serious one with S. flexneri and S. boydii.

      • 윈도우 환경에서 음성인식을 이용한 인터넷 검색기 구현

        본논문에서는 Window 상에서 웹브라우저 검색어로 영문 알파벳을 인식하도록 하였다. 음성의 특징 벡터로는 10차원의 LPC, cepstrum, LSF(Line Spectrum Frequency) 계수와, 규격화된 필터뱅크 에너지를 사용하였으며 인식 알고리즘으로는 MSVQ 모델을 사용하였다. 인식 대상 어휘는 26개의 알파벳을 사용하였으며 실험결과 필터뱅크 에너지를 사용한 인식결과가 가장 우수한 것으로 나타났다. This paper represents the speech recognizer of English alphabet for the internet explorer in Windows. We use 10-dimensional LPC, cepstrum, LSF coefficients and normalized filter bank energies as the speech feature vectors and MSVQ model as the recognition algorithm. As the results the recognizer using the normalized filter bank energies shows the better performance than that using the other feature vectors.

        Lack of Association of BIRC5 Polymorphisms with Clearance of HBV Infection and HCC Occurrence in a Korean Population

        BIRC5 (Survivin) belongs to the inhibitor of apoptosis gene family. The BIRC5 protein inhibits caspases and consequently blocks apoptosis. Thus, BIRC5 contributes to the progression of cancer allowing for continued cell proliferation and survival. In this study, we identified eight sequence variants of BIRC5 through direct DNA sequencing. Among the eight single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), six common variants with frequencies higher than 0.05 were selected for larger-scale genotyping (n=1,066). Results of the study did not show any association between the promoter region polymorphisms and the clearance of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) occurrence. This is in line with a previous study in which polymorphisms in the promoter region does not influence the function of BIRC5. Initially, we were able to detect a signal with the +9194A>G, which disappeared after multiple corrections but led to a change in amino acid. Similarly, we were also able to detect an association signal between two haplotypes (haplotype-2 and haplotype-5) on the onset age of HCC and/or HCC occurrence, but the signals also disappeared after multiple corrections. As a result, we concluded that there was no association between BIRC5 polymorphisms and the clearance HBV infection and/or HCC occurrence. However, our results might useful to future studies.

        Electrooptic Response of Reflective Liquid Crystal Cell

        The electrooptic properties of the reflected light in a reflective mode, 45°-twisted nematic liquid crystal (TNLC) cell were investigated in the voltage regions near and away from the Freedericksz transition threshold. The measured reflectivity away from the threshold voltage (V_(th)) could not be described by the model which assumes a constant tilt angle as well as a linearized distribution of twist angle across the cell, although the data are well fitted near V_(th). We found that in the voltage region away from V_(th), the model considering the distributions of the tilt angle and the twist angle should be applied for the calculation of the reflectivity. The director-axis distributions were obtained from the numerical integration of the Euler-Lagrange equation.

        Rabbit Annulus Fibrosus Cells Express Neuropeptide Y, Which Is Influenced by Mechanical and Inflammatory Stress

        Objective: Rabbit annulus fibrosus (AF) cells were exposed to isolated or combined mechanical and inflammatory stress to examine the expression of neuropeptide Y (NPY). This study aims to explore the ability of AF cells to produce NPY in response to mechanical and inflammatory stress. Methods: Lumbar AF cells of 6- to 8-month-old female New Zealand white rabbits were harvested and exposed to combinations of inflammatory (interleukin-1β) and mechanical (6% or 18%) tensile stress using the Flexcell System. NPY concentrations were measured in the media via enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The presence of NPY receptor-type 1 (NPY-1R) in AF cells of rabbit intervertebral discs was also analyzed via immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence. Results: Exposure to inflammatory stimuli showed a significant increase in the amount of NPY expression compared to control AF cells. Mechanical strain alone did not result in a significant difference in NPY expression. While combined inflammatory and mechanical stress did not demonstrate an increase in NPY expression at low (6%) levels of strain, at 18% strain, there was a large—though not statistically significant—increase in NPY expression under conditions of inflammatory stress. Lastly, immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry of AF cells and tissue, respectively, demonstrated the presence of NPY-1R. Conclusion: These findings demonstrate that rabbit AF cells are capable of expressing NPY, and expression is enhanced in response to inflammatory and mechanical stress. Because both inflammatory and mechanical stress contribute to intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD), this observation raises the potential of a mechanistic link between low back pain and IDD.

        Acanthoic acid, a diterpene in Acanthopanax koreanum, protects acetaminophen-induced hepatic toxicity in mice

        The protective effect of a diterpenoid acanthoic acid (AA) isolated from Acanthopanax koreanum Nakai was investigated in acetaminophen (APAP)-induced hepatic toxicity. Drug-induced hepatotoxicity induced by an intraperitoneal (i.p.) injection of 300mg/kg (sub-lethal dose) of APAP. Pretreatment with AA (50 and 100mg/kg) orally 2h before the APAP administration attenuated the APAP-induced acute increase in serum aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) activites, replenished the depleted hepatic glutathione (GSH), superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activities, decreased malondialdehyde (MDA) level and considerably reduced the histopathological alterations in a manner similar to silymarin (Sily). Immunohistochemical analyses also demonstrated that AA could reduce the appearance of necrosis regions as well as caspase-3 and hypoxia inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) expression in liver tissue. Our results indicated that AA protected liver tissue from the oxidative stress elicites by APAP-induced liver damage and suggestes that the hepatic protection mechanism of AA would relate to antioxidation and hypoxia factor on APAP-induced hepatotoxicity.
