A hand-arm vibration syndrome, local vibration illness, occurs in some workers who use hand held vibration tools. It consists of white fingers, diffusely distributed finger neuropathy, pain in the hand and arm, and a small excess risk of osteoarthritis. This study is aimed to identify effective methods to confirm local vibration illness among various health exams, which are mentioned in worker's special health exam regulation. In addition, this study is aimed to quantitatively assess the daily vibration exposure level as a major determinant of vibration illness. The subjects, 46 vibration workers, were selected according to the results of the first special health exam about vibration hazards at shipbuilding industry in 1997. They all had experiences of work related blanching of fingers. Fifteen controls, who had no vibration exposure at all, were also recruited to compare their test results with the results of vibration workers. We adopted I subjective and 6 objective tests to evaluate the effectiveness and feasibility for confirming local vibration illness. These tests were history taking of subjective symptoms according to the Stockholm classification, checking blood pressure of finger, checking grasp power, checking finger skin temperature, nail-bed pressing test, vibration perceptional threshold test, and skin prick test for pain perception. Among these, checking skin temperature, nail-bed pressing test, and vibration perception test included cold water provocations. We also estimated some vibration exposure levels of hand held vibration tools by using previously published data from one automobile company. In conclusion, history taking of subjective symptoms according to the Stockholm classification, nail-bed pressing test, and vibration perceptional threshold test were discovered to be effective to diagnose local vibration illness. Furthermore, vibration perceptional threshold on right fingers showed a dose-response relationship to daily vibration exposure levels. The parameter β was 0.0005(±0.0002), and statistically significant by REM(random effects model).
다시점 영상 부호화를 위한 모형 기반 시점간 비정합 보상 알고리즘
전영일(Yeong-Il Jeon),이시웅(Si-Woong Lee) 한국콘텐츠학회 2008 한국콘텐츠학회논문지 Vol.8 No.7
In this paper, an algorithm to compensate the inter-view mismatch in the multi-view video according to the different characteristics of cameras is presented. Interview mismatches make it difficult to merge the multi-view images and decrease the coding performance. So, a preprocessing operation to compensate the mismatches is requisite in the multi-view video coding. It is shown that the mismatch in the outputs of multi-view cameras with different electro-optical transfer functions can be approximated with a linear model of a gain and an offset. In addition, a new algorithm for estimating and compensating the inter-view mismatch based on the detection of the overlapped region is presented. Experimental results using various rectified stereo images show that the proposed method compensates inter-view mismatches more accurately compared to the conventional approach.

Purpose: This study examined perceptions and intentions of nursing undergraduates to use educational mobile applications for clinical nursing-practice training. Methods: Participants were 189 junior and senior nursing undergraduates from 14 Korean universities, experienced in clinical practice and educational nursing mobile applications. Using a convenience sampling method, the questionnaire was Sim’s Perceptions and Intentions tool. Statistical analyses were conducted by t-test, one-way ANOVA, correlation, and multiple regression analysis with SPSS 22.0 Windows software. Results: Statistically significant differences emerged between those who used smartphones for more than 4 hours (18.56 ± 4.58) and less than 2 hours (15.84 ± 4.35) per day (F = 3.25, p = .041). Perception and intention of educational-applications use correlated positively (r = .723, p < .001). Performance expectancy (β = .225, p = .002), attitude toward technology (β = .446, p < .001), facilitating condition (β = .132, p = .022), and self-efficacy (β = .168, p = .008) were statistically significant predictors of intention to use educational mobile applications (Adjusted R2 =.616, p < .001). Conclusion: Attitude toward using technology, performance expectancy, and self-efficacy will improve use of nursing educational mobile applications for clinical nursing-practice training. Developers should consider students’ experience in clinical-nursing practice and readiness to use mobile technology.

The antigenic potential of CFA-001, cefazolin, a cephalosporin derivative produced by an enzymatic semisynthesis, was determined in Hartley guinea pigs. A battery of tests employed consisted of active systemic anaphylaxis (ASA), passive cutaneous anaphylaxis (PCA), and indirect hemagglutination test (IHA). The results were as follows: 1) In ASA, no signs attributable to anaphylaxis was observed in guinea pigs sensitized with CFA-001, whereas OVA-sensitized animals induced severe anaphylactic symptoms; 2) guinea pigs did not produce antibodies against CFA-001 when sensitized with or without Freund's complete adjuvant (FCA) in homologous PCA tests. Meanwhile, antibodies against ovalbumin (OVA) were clearly detected; 3) No CFA-001-specific hemagglutination was observed in the IHA using sera obtained from CFA-001-sensitized guinea pigs. These results suggest that CFA-001 has no antigenicity potential in guinea pigs.

Ankyrins are a ubiquitously expressed family of intracellular adaptor proteins involved in targeting diverse proteins to specialized membrane domains in both the plasma membrane and the endoplasmic reticulum. Recently, the studies with C-terminus of ankyrins have identified that ankyrin-B is capable of interacting with Hsp40 and sAnk1 is capable of interacting with obscurin and titin, but the function of C-terminal domain of ankyrin-G remains unknown. To identify proteins interacting C-terminus of ankyrin-G, we used the C-terminus of ankyrin-G as a bait for a yeast two-hybrid screen of brain cDNA library. Approximately 1.33×10? transformants were screened, of which 13 positive clones were obtained as determined by activation of HIS3, ADE2 and MEL1 reporter genes. Sequence analyses of these 13 plasmids revealed that cDNA inserts of 13 colonies showed highly homologous to 11 genes, including 5 known (i.e., Na?/K? ATPase β1, SERBP1, UTF2, cytochrome C oxidase and collagen Ⅳ α2) and 6 unknown genes. The evaluation of the proteins that emerge from these experiments provides a rational approach to investigate the those proteins significant in interaction with ankyrin-G.

<P>Voltage-gated K(+) (Kv) channels are known to be associated with the proliferation of several types of cancer cells, including lung adenocarcinoma cells, and certain Kv channel blockers inhibit cancer cell proliferation. In the present study, we investigated the effects of Kv channel blockers in gefitinib-resistant H460 non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells. Treatment with dendrotoxin-κ (DTX-κ), which is a Kv1.1-specific blocker, reduced H460 cell viability and arrested cells in G(1)/S transition during cell-cycle progression. We administered DTX-κ in a xenograft model using nude mice. The tumor volume was reduced by the injection of DTX-κ into the tumor tissues compared to the control group. These results indicate that DTX-κ has antitumor effects in gefitinib-resistant H460 cells through the pathway governing the G(1)/S transition both in vitro and in vivo. These findings suggest that Kv1.1 could serve as a novel therapeutic target for gefitinib-resistant NSCLC.</P>

To understand influence of two species of parasitoids on host population dynamics, adult population dynamics of pine needle gall midge (PNGM), Thecodiplosis japonensis and two species of parasitoids, Inostemma matsutama and Inostemma seoulis were observed using emergence traps from 1986 to 2005. Density of PNGM decreased after outbreaks in 1986 and 1987 and showed density-dependent regulation. Relationships between density of PNGM and its parasitoids were linear except the period of outbreak regardless of parasitoids species. Relationships between host density and parasitism of I. matsutama and I. seoulis were density-independent and inverse density-dependent, respectively. I. seoulis was the dominant parasitoid against PNGM. Interspecific competition between two parasitoids was not strong and temporal niche segregation between two parasitoids was a possible mechanism for coexistence of two parasitoids. The parasitoid complex responded to changes in host density more sensitively than single parasitoid species. These results suggested that two parasitoid can stabilize PNGM population density without strong negative effects on each species of parasitoids.
