유전자로부터 동물모델에 이르는 Gilles de la Tourette 증후군 연구
김형식,김형준,이지혜 대한구강악안면병리학회 2020 대한구강악안면병리학회지 Vol.44 No.6
Gilles de la Tourette Syndrome (GTS) is a neuropsychiatric disorder defined by the motor and phonic tics affecting approximately 1% of the children worldwide. The symptoms of GTS typically arise at the age of 5 to 7 and generally improve with increasing age. Affected individuals can have a social stigma and poor quality of life, especially when tics are severe or accompanied by other neuropsychiatric disorders. Abnormalities in neurotransmitter signaling affecting basal ganglia circuits have been suggested as representatives of neurobiological mechanisms underlying GTS. While several evidences suggest GTS as an inherited disorder, the detailed genetic abnormalities responsible for the pathophysiology of GTS remain poorly understood. Currently, there is no satisfactory treatment option for moderate-to-severe GTS due to the limited efficacy, often complicated with side effects of available pharmacological drugs. Therefore, a number of animal models have been established to explore potential pathophysiological targets in GTS and to further screen candidate drugs. In this review, we revisit the experimental findings that describe the genetic and immunologic abnormalities in GTS as well as animal models established for studying GTS.

A new phenolic amide, named cis-terrestriamide(7), together with ten known compounds (1–6, 8–11), wereisolated from the methanolic extract of the fruits ofTribulus terrestris. The structure of 7 was elucidated on thebasis of extensive analyses of 1D and 2D nuclear magneticresonance spectroscopic and high resolution mass spectrometrydata. Compounds 1, 2, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 11 exhibitedinhibitory effects on the lipopolysaccharide-stimulatednitric oxide production in RAW 264.7 cells, with IC50values of 18.7–49.4 lM.

Granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) and Immunoglobulin (Ig) G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) are rare diseases and early diagnosis and proper management are imperative to prevent multi-organ damage. The authors present a case of a 60 years old woman who had facial paralysis and hearing loss. Lt intact canal wall tympanomastoidectomy, Lt facial nerve decompression and ossiculoplasty with partial ossicular replacement prosthesis (PORP) was done. During operation, middle ear tissue was biopsied and GPA with IgG4-RD was diagnosed. After methyl prednisolone (MPD) pulse therapy and azathioprine therapy, the severity of paralysis was improved. We present this case because common otologic symptoms like facial palsy and hearing loss could be initial symptoms of rare systemic disease
Smart engineering of gold nanoparticles to improve intestinal barrier penetration
김형식,이동윤 한국공업화학회 2021 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.102 No.-
Overcoming the harsh environment and epithelial barrier of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract is an importantchallenge for orally administered nanodrugs. Among the various nano-sized drug delivery systems, goldnanoparticles (AuNPs) possess unique characteristics that make them promising candidates for improvingdrug bioavailability. A profound understanding of the GI tract microenvironment and the mechanismsof nanoparticle transportation through the intestinal epithelium is required to develop an effective oraldrug delivery system. Moreover, the physicochemical properties of AuNPs, including their size, surfacecharge, rigidity, and shape, are relevant factors that affect the penetration processes. In this review, wedescribe the nanotechnologies that can be incorporated into AuNPs to efficiently target intestinal epithelialcells, penetrate mucus barriers, and respond to specific stimuli. Thus, we provide a comprehensivedescription of AuNPs to formulate a rational and effective engineering strategy to overcome the GI tractbarriers.
Photothermal therapy with gold nanoparticles as an anticancer medication
김형식,이동윤 한국약제학회 2017 Journal of Pharmaceutical Investigation Vol.47 No.1
Over the past few decades, gold nanoparticles and diverse gold nano-forms have been considered for both cancer therapy and bioimaging due to their surface plasmon resonance effect and its capability of loading contrast agent. This effect enables thermal destruction of cells or organs by drastically elevating temperature when exposed to a specific energy of visible light either near infrared light. In addition, chemical modifications of the surfaces of gold nanoparticles or nano-forms are well known. Sulfurcontaining functional groups of biomolecules or polymers can be easily conjugated with Aurum atoms on the surface of gold nanoparticles. There are also various nano-forms with different shapes and sizes derived from gold nanoparticles such as the nanosphere, nanorod, nanocage, nanoshell, and nanoporous gold disks. The various forms of nano-scaled gold materials have unique properties that can be used as carrier, simultaneously thermal destruction agent. Its properties of the materials are able to applied to a number of desired purposes. Regardless of the physicochemical properties of gold nanoparticles, they present several challenges, such as the instance energy penetrating depth availability aspect required for gold nanoparticles to enter organs and the cellular toxicity issues of nano-scaled gold particles in the body. The purpose of this review is to introduce the advantages using gold nanoparticles-based materials and its diverse approaches to several types of cancer therapies due to its distinct properties.
LNG저장탱크의 멤브레인용 국산 304 스테인리스강의 기계적성질 및 피로수명 평가
김형식,Kim, Hyeong-Sik 대한기계학회 2001 大韓機械學會論文集A Vol.25 No.10
Mechanical properties of domestic 374 stainless steel have been evaluated fur membrane material used in LNG storage tank. LNG tank is operated around -162$^{\circ}C$. The temperature of membrane depends on LNG level. Accordingly, the membrane material is deteriorated by variation of liquid pressure and temperature. Tensile test and fatigue life test were performed at room temperature and -l62$^{\circ}C$ per code requirements. Especially the biaxial fatigue life test was conducted with shaped membrane sheet at a thermal strain of $\Delta$T=190$^{\circ}C$ The test results obtained with the domestic 304 stainless steel showed better properties compared to the values required by code.
