        영양물 정주시의 체내호르몬 반응에 관한 연구 : 위암환자에서 본 영양물 투여시의 insulin 및 HGH 반응 Insulin and growth hormone responses following oral or intravenous alimentation in patient with far advanced gastric cancer

        심히 진행된 위암 환자에서 경정맥 포도당 투여시의 insulin 및 성장 호르몬 반응을 관찰하고 경구 투여시와 비교 검토하였다. 다시 위암 환자에게 아미노산 용액을 투여하고 혈중 insulin 농도와 성장 호르몬 농도 및 혈당량을 경시적으로 측정하고 정상인에서의 결과와 비교하여 다음의 결과를 얻었다. 1) 위암 환자에게 포도당 용액을 경구 부하하면 혈중 포도당 농도의 상승은 감소되었다. 2) 위암 환자에게 포도당 용액을 경구투여하였더니 insulin 반응은 정상인에서보다 감소되어 경정맥투여시와 유사하였다. 3) 위암 환자에게 포도당 용액 또는 아미노산용액을 경정맥 투여하여 성장 호르몬 농도의 상승을 관찰하였다. 4) 위암 환자에게 아미노산 용액을 정맥내로 투여하면 정상인에서와 같이 경구투여시에 비하여 insulin 반응의 감소가 관찰되었다. 5) 위암 환자에게 포도당 경정맥 투여시의 insulin 반응이 경구 투여시와 유사한 점에 대하여 고찰하였으며 아미노산 경정맥 투여시에는 insulin 반응에 유의할 필요성을 지적하였다. Glucose tolerance, insulin and growth hormone responses following glucose for amino acids administration by means of parenteral or oral load were studied in patients with far advanced gastric cancer. Hormone responses following nutrients load showed in patients with gastric cancer were compared to those of healthy subjects. Results were as follows: 1) Blood sugar appearance following oral glucose administration was diminished in patients with far advanced gastric cancer. 2) The insulin responses of gastric cancer following oral glucose were also diminished as compared to that of normal subjects and were identical with parenteral route. 3) Parenteral administration of glucose or amino acids to patients with gastric cancer resulted in a increase of plasma growth hormone level. 4) Lower insulin response to amino acids was observed on parenteral administration in patient with gastric cancer as in healthy subjects. 5) Author discussed that the low insulin response after oral glucose administration showed in gastric cancer, and any additional insulin requirement arise when longer periods of parenteral amino acid administration are necessary, as in the patient with malnutritions. $quot;

        췌장암에서 Cyclooxygenase - 2 발현의 역할

        Background/Aims: Accumulating evidence suggests that the use of NSAID may reduce the incidence of colorectal cancer. The likely mechanisms of these effects by NSAID is cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2)-related inhibition of tumor proliferation and induction of apoptosis. The aim of our study was to examine possible roles and clinical significance of COX-2 expression in pancreatic cancer. Methods: Seventy-two pancreatic adenocarcinoma tissue specimens were obtained from surgical resection. After the immunohistochemical staining of the specimens, we examined proliferation activity (assayed by Ki-67 expression), apoptosis (by TUNEL stain), and microvessel density (by CD34 expression). We also investigated the relationship between the immunohistochemical expression of COX-2 and various clinicopathological characteristics. Results: The COX-2 positive rate in pancreatic epithelial cells was 41.7%. Proliferation index (PI) was significant higher in COX-2 positive specimens comparing to negative specimen (p=0.015) and the increase in intensity of COX-2 expression correlated with increasing PI (p=0.036). Apoptotic index (AI) was significantly higher in positivee COX-2 expression than in negative expression (p=0.044), but there was no significant difference in AI/PI between the COX-2 positive and negative specimens (p=0.44). The expression of COX-2 protein did not correlate with microvessel density, sex, age, differentiation, tumor size, stage, metastasis or patients survival. Conclusions: The expression of COX-2 enzyme in pancreatic cancer contributes to tumor proliferation, but is not related to apoptosis, angiogenesis or clinical characteristics. Further study is needed to examine the clinical usefulness of NSAID and COX-2 selective inhibitors.

        This study assessed the Charpy impact properties of the heat-affected zones (HAZs) of API X80 linepipe steels containing complex oxides. Three types of steel were fabricated by adding Mg and O2 to form complex oxides and their microstructures and Charpy impact properties were investigated. The number of complex oxides increased with the amount of excess Mg and O2 that was included in the steels. Simulated HAZs containing a number of oxides showed a high volume fraction of acicular ferrite (AF) because the oxides acted as nucleation sites for AF, thereby leading to an improvement in the Charpy impact properties. According to a correlation study between the heat input, the volume fraction of the AF, and the Charpy impact properties, ductile fractures occurred predominantly when the fraction of the AF was 20% or higher; moreover, the Charpy absorbed energy was excellent at more than 100 J. These findings suggest that the improvement of the Charpy impact properties of the HAZs was associated with the active nucleation of AF in the oxide-containing steel HAZs.

        The objective of the present study was to evaluate the skin whitening effect of the extracts, Lycii fructus (LF), Dry-L. foilum (DLF) and Fresh-L. folium (FLF). Tyrosinase inhibition activities was 44% in DLF ethanol extracts at a 500 μg/mL. When the tyrosinase activities in B16F10 murine melanoma cell were tested, the activities in DLF ethanol extracts was 14% at a 50 μg/mL concentration. The protein expression of microphthalmia-associated transcription factor, tyrosinase related protein 1 (TRP-1), TRP-2, and tyrosinase, which are all melanin related factors, showed that LF, DLF and FLF extracts inhibited the protein bio-synthesis in B16F10 melanoma cell. Especially the DLF extract showed greater decrease of protein expressions. Results indicate that the DLF extract tested in the present study had skin whitening activity and can be used as a function a ingredients for food and cosmetic compositions.

      • The cleidocranial dysplasia-related R131G mutation in the Runt-related transcription factor RUNX2 disrupts binding to DNA but not CBF-β

        <P>Cleidocranial dysplasia (CCD) is caused by haploinsufficiency in RUNX2 function. We have previously identified a series of RUNX2 mutations in Korean CCD patients, including a novel R131G missense mutation in the Runt-homology domain. Here, we examine the functional consequences of the RUNX2<SUP>R131G</SUP> mutation, which could potentially affect DNA binding, nuclear localization signal, and/or heterodimerization with core-binding factor-β (CBF-β). Immunofluorescence microscopy and western blot analysis with subcellular fractions show that RUNX2<SUP>R131G</SUP> is localized in the nucleus. Immunoprecipitation analysis reveals that heterodimerization with CBF-β is retained. However, precipitation assays with biotinylated oligonucleotides and reporter gene assays with RUNX2 responsive promoters together reveal that DNA-binding activity and consequently the transactivation of potential of RUNX2<SUP>R131G</SUP> is abrogated. We conclude that loss of DNA binding, but not nuclear localization or CBF-β heterodimerization, causes RUNX2 haploinsufficiency in patients with the RUNX2<SUP>R131G</SUP> mutation. Retention of specific functions including nuclear localization and binding to CBF-β of the RUNX2<SUP>R131G</SUP> mutation may render the mutant protein an effective competitor that interferes with wild-type function.         MutMap 분석에 의한 벼 왜성 돌연변이 계통의 변이 유전자 탐색

        A dwarf mutant rice line was selected from an Ac/Ds insertion mutant population and named dwf1. The phenotype of F1 and F2 plants derived from a cross between dwf1 and Dongjin indicated that a single recessive gene is responsible for the mutant phenotype, and we named this gene dwf1. Resequencing of the dwf1 line and Dongjin (wild type) revealed 42,386 homozygous single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) between dwf1 line and Dongjin. MutMap analysis was performed by sequencing a DNA pool prepared from 100 mutant type plants in the dwf1/Dongjin F2 population, and it was found that the dwf1 gene was located in the 23 ~ 30 Mbp region on chromosome 4. In this region, we found a non-synonymous SNP in the Os04g0469800 gene, which was reported as D11 gene encoding a cytochrome P450 family protein involved in the biosynthesis of brassinosteroids (BRs). This SNP was regarded as the causative SNP for the dwf1 phenotype, and the dwf1 gene is a novel allele of D11. We performed mapping of the dwf1 gene with five SNP markers on chromosome 4 with 190 dwf1/Dongjin F2 plants. The phenotype of F2 plants was completely co-segregated with genotypes of the J10402 marker, which was developed based on the non-synonymous SNP in the D11 gene. These results will contribute to the study of the molecular biological functions of the D11 gene and BRs.

      • 열선 화학 기상 증착법에 의한 실리콘 박막 및 태양전지 특성

        최근 열선 화학 기상 증착법(HWCVD)은 낮은 온도에서 TFT용 Poly Si 중착을 할 수 있다는 점과 실리콘 박막을 빠른 속도로 증착할 수 있다는 점에서 각광을 받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 HWCVD를 이용하여 태양전지를 제조하고 그 특성을 평가하였다. 조건에 따른 실리콘 박막의 특성 변화를 알기 위해 corning glass 및 실리콘 wafer에 다양한 조건에서 단위 박막(intrinsic layer)을 증착하였고 이 결과를 바탕으로 p/i/n 구조의 태양전지를 제조하였다. Ta 열선 온도는 1700-2000도였고 가스 원료인 SiH₄와 수소의 비율을 조절하면서 그 영향을 관찰하였다. 태양전지의 경우 p충과 n충은 PECVD로 증착하였으며 단위박막 및 태양전지 i충 증착시 기판과 열선간의 거리는 7cm, 기판 온도는 200?C와 250?C로 고정하였고 작업압력은 30mTorr였다. 단위 박막 특성 평가를 위해 암/광 전도도, SEM, Raman Scattering, FT-IR등을 사용하였으며 태양전지 특성 평가를 위해 I-V 및 Spectral response를 측정하였다. 열선 온도가 증가함에 따라 증착속도 및 결정화 분율은 증가하였다. 특히 비정질에서 결정질로 전이되는 구간은 매우 좁았으며 여러 분석 방법에서 일치되는 결과를 보였다. SiH₄ 유량이 늘어날수록 비정질이 결정질로 바뀌는 열선 온도가 증가하였으며 기판 온도가 낮을 경우 또한 결정으로 바뀌는 열선 온도가 증가하였다. 태양전지의 경우 열선 온도가 증가함에 따라 V_{oc} 및 W가 낮아졌으며 J_{sc}, 는 증가하는 경향을 보였으며 결정질 비율이 증가하는 것을 관찰할 수 있었다. 이러한 경향은 quantum efficiency 결과에서도 확인할 수 있었다.

      • Laterally assembled nanowires for ultrathin broadband solar absorbers.

        <P>We studied optical resonances in laterally oriented Si nanowire arrays by conducting finite-difference time-domain simulations. Localized Fabry-Perot and whispering-gallery modes are supported within the cross section of each nanowire in the array and result in broadband light absorption. Comparison of a nanowire array with a single nanowire shows that the current density (J(SC)) is preserved for a range of nanowire morphologies. The J(SC) of a nanowire array depends on the spacing of its constituent nanowires, which indicates that both diffraction and optical antenna effects contribute to light absorption. Furthermore, a vertically stacked nanowire array exhibits significantly enhanced light absorption because of the emergence of coupled cavity-waveguide modes and the mitigation of a screening effect. With the assumption of unity internal quantum efficiency, the J(SC) of an 800-nm-thick cross-stacked nanowire array is 14.0 mA/cm2, which yields a ~60% enhancement compared with an equivalent bulk film absorber. These numerical results underpin a rational design strategy for ultrathin solar absorbers based on assembled nanowire cavities.</P>

        Web access prediction based on parallel deep learning

        웹에서 정보 접근에 대한 폭발적인 주문으로 웹 사용자의 다음 접근 페이지를 예측하는 필요성이 대두되었다. 웹 접근 예측을 위해 마코브(markov) 모델, 딥 신경망, 벡터 머신, 퍼지 추론 모델등 많은 모델이 제안되었다. 신경망 모델에 기반한 딥러닝 기법에서 대규모 웹 사용 데이터에 대한 학습 시간이 엄청 길어진다. 이 문제를 해결하기 위하여 딥 신경망 모델에서는 학습을 여러 컴퓨터에 동시에, 즉 병렬로 학습시킨다. 본 논문에서는 먼저 스파크 클러스터에서 다층 Perceptron 모델을 학습 시킬 때 중요한 데이터 분할, shuffling, 압축, locality와 관련된 기본 파라미터들이 얼마만큼 영향을 미치는지 살펴보았다. 그 다음 웹 접근 예측을 위해 다층 Perceptron 모델을 학습 시킬 때 성능을 높이기 위하여 이들 스파크 파라미터들을 튜닝 하였다. 실험을 통하여 논문에서 제안한 스파크 파라미터 튜닝을 통한 웹 접근 예측 모델이 파라미터 튜닝을 하지 않았을 경우와 비교하여 웹 접근 예측에 대한 정확성과 성능 향상의 효과를 보였다. Due to the exponential growth of access information on the web, the need for predicting web users’ next access has increased. Various models such as markov models, deep neural networks, support vector machines, and fuzzy inference models were proposed to handle web access prediction. For deep learning based on neural network models, training time on large-scale web usage data is very huge. To address this problem, deep neural network models are trained on cluster of computers in parallel. In this paper, we investigated impact of several important spark parameters related to data partitions, shuffling, compression, and locality (basic spark parameters) for training Multi-Layer Perceptron model on Spark standalone cluster. Then based on the investigation, we tuned basic spark parameters for training Multi-Layer Perceptron model and used it for tuning Spark when training Multi-Layer Perceptron model for web access prediction. Through experiments, we showed the accuracy of web access prediction based on our proposed web access prediction model. In addition, we also showed performance improvement in training time based on our spark basic parameters tuning for training Multi-Layer Perceptron model over default spark parameters configuration.

      • Low angle forward reflected neutral beam source and its applications

        <P>As one of the many nano-device fabrication techniques employed in the semiconductor industry, neutral beams are being examined using various methods to solve possible charge-related problems that occur during device processing. This review introduces a neutral beam generated by surface neutralization of an ion beam using a low angle forward reflection technique and explains its application to various areas such as surface treatments and etching. The neutralization efficiency of an ion beam using a low angle forward reflection technique was approximately 99.7%. When a metal-oxide-semiconductor device was etched using a reactive neutral beam, it was confirmed that charge-related problems such as aspect-ratio-dependent etching and gate oxide charging could be removed using reactive neutral beam etching instead of conventional reactive ion etching. Neutral beams can be beneficial to other devices such as the III-V device and field emission device.</P>
