        North Korea has shown the great reduction in the quantity of foreign trade since the collapse of the former USSER and the countries of Eastern Europe which was the major trade partners. The trade deficit of North Korea has gradually increased, which is acting as the man cause of its economic depression. North Korea devote all of its energy to the imort of grains and the introduction of crude oil for processing on consignment to overcome severe food shortage and energy shortage, deepening the degree of dependency on foreign countries further. The important fact is that South Korea has overtaken Russia and is emerging as the third trading partner next to China and Japan in terms of the quantity and size of trade. Especially, the size of trade exchange of agricultural products between South Korea and North Korea is drestically increasing. South Korea and North Korea have several favorable conditions that they can expand mutual interests by activating the trade of agricultural products it. South Korea and North Korea fail to get out of the deadlock in trade because of economic difficulty and political and diplomatic factors, but there is a high possibility that they may expand trades on mutually complementary items in the future.

      • 글리코겐 로딩과 지방로딩에 의한 운동선수들의 지구력 및 생리적 특성의 비교

        The present study examined the effect of dietary manipulations on five trained hockey player. The amount of energy intake is about 3,288kal/day in fat diet and about 3,309kal/day in carbohydrate diet, and the percentage energy contributions from carbohydrate diets, fat, and protein were 44.2/40.8/15.1 and 68.9/15.4/15.7 for fat and carbohydrate diets, respectively. Expiratory gases and blood responses to a prolonged treadmill run were determined following 7d on each diet. Free fatty acid(FFA), triglycerides, glycerol, glucose, and lactate were measured. Running time to exhaustion was not significant difference on both experiment diets. Plasma FFA levels were higher and glycerol levels were lower during the fat diet than during the carbohydrate diet. Other biochemical measures did not differ significantly among diets. These data suggest that endurance running of 80% VO₂max is so high for college hockey players that the difference created by two diets are not significant.

        교잡종 찰옥수수에 대한 연구 : Ⅱ. 새로 육성된 찰옥수수 교잡종 "대덕찰"에 대한 농업적 특성 Ⅱ. Agronomic Characteristics of the New Waxy Hybrids "Daedukchals"

        1. 새로 육성된 4개의 대덕찰 찰옥수수 교잡종에 대한 간장은 대조구인 찰옥 1호보다 큰 반면에 개화기는 약 4∼7일 늦었으며, 모든 공시 교잡종의 주당 분얼수는 한 개이하의 무효분얼로 나타났다. 2. 새로 육성된 대덕찰옥수수의 이삭길이와 직경은 대조구인 찰옥 1호보다 크게 나타났으며, 특히 대덕찰옥수수 1호와 2호의 과피두께는 대구조보다 얇았고, 당도 역시 높게 나타나 우수 교잡종으로 평가되었다. Stem height of the new developed "Daedekchals" waxy hybrids were higher than check hybrid. Chalok #1, while days to tasseling were delayed about four to seven days. Number of tillers per plant of the these new hybrids including check were appeared to be one less as non-effective tiller. Ear length and diameter of the new waxy hybrids were longer and thicker than check, respectively. In addition pericarp thickness of the Daedekchal #1 and #2 among new developed waxy hybrids were thinner and sugar content were higher than check.

      • 영광원자력발전소 주변의 식생과 식물현존량 추정

        영광원자력발전소 주변의 식생에 대한 식물사회학적 조사를 실시하였으며, 순 1차 생산량과 식물현존량을 추정하였다. 또한 상관에 의해 현존식생도 및 녹지자연도를 작성하였다(1:50,000). Z-M 방식에 의한 삼림식생은 소나무군락과 곰솔군락으로 구분되었다. 전체적으로 교목층에 소나무와 곰솔, 아교목층에 졸참나무와 곰솔, 관목층에 털진달래와 신갈나무, 초본층에 털대사초와 그늘사초 등의 피복지수가 우세하게 나타났다. 토양의 pH는 4.65∼4.67, 유기물 함량은 7.28∼7.53%의 범위였다. 현존식생도에 의한 분포비율은 경작지(67%), 소나무(21.9%) 및 곰솔군락(9.1%)의 순으로 나타났으며, 녹지자연도는 등급 2가 67%(경작지), 7등급(이차림(A))과 6등급(조림지)이 각각 29.2%와 1.8%로 나타났다. Montreal model에의한 소나무림과 곰솔림의 식물현존량은 657,817.2와 177,367.0ton으로 각각 산정되었다. The forest vegetation and estimation of phytomass and net primary production in the vicinity of Yonggwang Atomic Power Plant were analyzed on the basis of the phytosociological data. Depending on physiognomy, the actual vegetation map and the degree of green naturality(DGN) were also drawn in the scale of 1:50,000. According to Z-M method, the forest vegetation was classified into two communities; Pinus densiflora and Pinus thunbergii communities. It was generally shown that Pinus densiflora and Pirus thunbergii in tree-1 layer, Quercus serrata and Pinus thunbergii in tree-2 layer, Rhododendron mucronulatum var. ciliatum and Quercus serrata in shrub layer, and Carex ciliato-marginata and Carex lanceolata in herb layer had high coverage index. The pHs and contents of organic matter of the forest soils collected in each sites were in the 4.64 to 4.67 and 7.28% to 7.53% in average, respectively. The distribution area of each vegetationindex. It was estimated that phytomass of Pinus densiflora and Pinus thunbergii in the study sites, which was calculated by Montreal model, was 657,817.2 and 177,367.0 ton, respectively.

        고탁도시 DAF 정수장의 운영 및 진단

        DAF process has been designed considering raw water quality characteristics in Korea. Although direct filtration is usually operated, DAF is operated when the freshwater blooms occur or raw water turbidity become high. Pre-sedimentation is prepared in case when raw water turbidity is very high by rainstorms. A main feature of this plant is that the operation mode can be changed (controlled) based on the characteristics of raw water to optimize the effluent quality and the operation costs. Treatment capacity (surface loading rate) and efficiency of DAF was found to be better than conventional sedimentation process. Moreover, lowdensity particles (algae and alum flocs) are easily separated while it is difficult to remove in sedimentation. One of the main concerns in adoption of DAF (Dissolved-Air-Rotation) process is a high raw water turbidity problem. That is, DAF is not adequate for raw water, which is more turbid than 100MU. In order to avoid this problem, pre-sedimentation basins are prepared in OAF plant to decrease the turbidity of DAF influent. For simulation of the actual operation, bench and full-scale tests were performed for highly turbid water conditions. Consequently, DAF process coupled with sedimentation is suggested that pre-sedimentation with optimum coagulation prior to DAF would be appropriate.

        Physicochemical Properties and Freshness of Spent Hen's Meat under Frozen or Refrigeration Conditions after Thawing

        This study was conducted in order to investigate the effect of storage temperature abuse on the freshness of refrigerated and frozen spent hen's meat. After a room temperature storage condition, two different storage temperature were followed: refrigeration and frozen storage. All parts of the spent hen's meats were thawed at 4 d intervals up to 3 times (2, 6, and 10 d) for 24 h. The level of bacteria on the different parts of the refrigerated and frozen meats was higher than 6 Log CFU/g under the following storage conditions: refrigerated - breast, 12 h; leg, 6 h; wing, 12 h at the $1^{st}$ analysis, frozen - breast, 12 h at the $2^{nd}$ analysis; leg, 24 h at the $1^{st}$ analysis; wing, 12 h at the $1^{st}$ analysis. The pH value for the leg meat was higher than breast and wing meats. In the color measurements, under the room temperature storage condition, lightness and redness values decreased but the yellowness increased in refrigerated meats (p<0.05). The K-value regarding refrigerated leg meats exceeded 60%, which is the threshold value to evaluate the degree of freshness, during the $1^{st}$ analysis (p<0.05). The VBN value of refrigerated leg meat was the highest and reached up to 96.93 mg%. Thus, studies regarding the possible decline in quality according to the change of storage temperature could be used in order to establish a basic database for the quality control of spent hen meat being traded with other countries.

      • First report of ash dieback pathogen Hymenoscyphus fraxineus (Helotiales, Leotiomycetes) from Korea

        In the past two decades, European ash trees (Fraxinus spp.) have been severely damaged by ash dieback disease of which causal agent is a fungal species called Hymenoscyphus fraxineus (anamorphic stage Chalara fraxinea). Recent molecular phylogenetic and population genetic studies suggested that this fungus may have been introduced from Eastern Asia to Europe. In the course of fungal biodiversity survey in Korea, H. fraxineus-like apothecia were collected from fallen leaves, rachis and petioles of Korean ash and Manchurian ash trees. The morphological and ecological traits of these materials are provided, supplemented by ITS rDNA sequence comparison of H. fraxineus strains collected from Europe, China and Japan.
