Reduction of Hydrogen Sulphide in Chicken Manure by Immobilized Sulphur Oxidising Bacteria Isolated from Hot Spring

        M. Y. Hidayat1,H. M. Saud,A. A. Samsudin 한국미생물·생명공학회 2019 한국미생물·생명공학회지 Vol.47 No.1

The rapid development of the poultry industry has led to the production of large amounts of manure, which produce substances like hydrogen sulfide (H2S) that contribute to odor pollution. H2S is a highly undesirable gas component and its removal from the environment is therefore necessary. Sulfur-oxidizing bacteria (SOB) are widely known to remove contaminating H2S due to their ability to oxidize reduced sulfur compounds. In this study, three potential SOB (designated AH18, AH25, and AH28) that were previously isolated from a hot spring in Malaysia were identified by 16S rRNA gene analysis. Laboratory-scale biological deodorization experiments were conducted to test the performance of the three isolates—in the form of pure or mixed cultures, with the cells immobilized onto alginate as a carrier—in reducing the H2S from chicken manure. On the basis of 16S rRNA phylogenetic analysis, isolate AH18 was identified as Pseudomonas sp., whereas isolates AH25 and AH28 were identified as Achromobacter sp. The most active deodorizing isolate was AH18, with an H2S reduction rate of 74.7% (p < 0.05). Meanwhile, the reduction rates for isolates AH25 and AH28 were 54.2% and 60.8% (p > 0.05), respectively. However, the H2S removal performance was enhanced in the mixed culture, with a reduction rate of 81.9% (p < 0.05). In conclusion, the three potential SOB isolates were capable of reducing the H2S from chicken manure in the form of a pure culture immobilized on alginate, and the reduction performance was enhanced in the mixed culture.

Steady-State Analysis and Trade Balance Convergence Rate of ASEAN Member Countries

Agus Maolana HIDAYAT1,Rina INDIASTUTI2,Budiono BUDIONO3,Ferry HADIYANTO4 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.6

The international trade role of a country depends on its economic condition, international economic openness, and cooperative orientation in its trade. This research analyzes AFTA free trade relating to the steady-state, disparity, and the ASEAN members’ trade balance convergence rate. The data used was taken from UNCTAD, ASYB, and Central Bank of Indonesia. The analysis model used was the most appropriate from Common, Fixed Effect Model (FEM), Random Effect Model (REM), and Generalized Method of Moment (GMM). ASEAN members’ balance trade reached a different steady-state for every country, therefore convergence pattern did not take place, and the divergence pattern occurred in trade balance among the member countries. The divergent trade balance was due to the different early economic conditions, macroeconomic development, trade openness, and trade facilities and infrastructures in each country. It was also due to the ASEAN intratrade cooperative role and low investment coming from intra-ASEAN foreign investment. To promote trade and lower divergent trade balance, it is necessary to promote intra-ASEAN trade and create a conducive situation for foreign capital investors.

Hydrothermal assisted synthesis of titanium dioxide nanoparticles modified graphene with enhanced photocatalytic performance

Rahmat Hidayat,Rahmat Hidayat,Tawfik A. Saleh 한국공업화학회 2022 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.113 No.-

Water purification is a global issue, and most traditional methods have several drawbacks. As a result, new methods and materials must be devised to address the problem of water filtration. The hydrophobicTiO2-ZnO/rGO has been synthesized via single-step hydrothermal methods for the efficiency and effectiveindigo carmine (IC) solution degradation. The characterization of hydrophobic TiO2-ZnO/rGO has shownthat the material has a high contact angle value of around 103.6. Several photocatalytic parameters, pHof IC solution, the dosage of catalyst, and light intensity, were optimized for obtaining the highest degradationefficiency. The results of the photocatalytic study showed that the IC dye degradation process wascontrolled by superoxide anion radical (O2 radicals) to produce more specific products. Modificationswith hydrophobic compounds such as hexamethyldisilizane (HDMS) showed that they could increasethe photocatalytic properties and reusability of the material with a degradation percentage value of upto 95% with a constant rate of 0.0361 min1. Based on these results, this material has the potential tobe further developed for micro and complex photodegradation and self-cleaning materials.

Transmission of Tomato leaf curl begomovirus by Two Different Species of Whitefly (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae)

Hidayat, Sri Hendrastuti,Rahmayani, Enuna The Korean Society of Plant Pathology 2007 Plant Pathology Journal Vol.23 No.2

Whitefly-transmitted geminiviruses (WTGs) are economically important pathogens causing serious damage on tomato and chilli pepper in Indonesia. Geminiviruses are readily transmitted by its insect vector, sweetpotato whitefly (Bemisia tabaci). However, greenhouse whitefly (Trialeurodes vaporariorum), another species of whitefly, is commonly found together with B. tabaci in the field. Incidence of yellow leaf curl disease in tomato and chilli pepper is probably correlated with the population of whitefly complex. It is becoming important to find the role of T. vaporariorum in the spread of the disease. Therefore, research is conducted to study the characteristic relationship between tomato leaf curl begomovirus (ToLCV) and two species of whitefly. The two species of whitefly, B. tabaci and T. vaporariorum, was capable to transmit ToLCV although it was evidenced that B. tabaci is more effective as insect vector of ToLCV in tomato and chilli pepper. A single B. tabaci was able to transmit ToLCV to tomato with a minimum acquisition and inoculation access period of 10 h. Transmission of ToLCV by T. vaporariorum required at least 10 insects per plant with a minimum acquisition and inoculation access period of 24 h. The transmission efficiency will increase with longer acquisition and inoculation access period of the insect and the higher number of insect per plant.

Generalized Proxy-Assisted Periodic Broadcasting (G-ProB) for Heterogeneous Clients in Video-on-Demand Service

( Hidayat Febiansyah ),( Jin Baek Kwon ) 한국정보처리학회 2010 Journal of information processing systems Vol.6 No.4

Video-on-Demand services are increasing rapidly nowadays. The load on servers can be very high, even exceeding their capacity. For popular contents, we can use a Periodic Broadcast (PB) strategy using multicast to serve all clients. Recent development of PB uses multiple channels broadcasting for segments of movies in certain patterns, so that users only need to wait for a small segment to start the service. However, users need higher download capacity to download multiple segments at a time. In order to compensate for this, a proxy server can help to reduce download bandwidth requirements by holding some segments for a certain time. This research will focus on more recent PB schemes that couldn`t be covered by previous Proxy-Assisted Periodic Broadcast strategies.

Effect of zinc on the immune response and production performance of broilers: a meta-analysis

Hidayat, Cecep,Sumiati, Sumiati,Jayanegara, Anuraga,Wina, Elizabeth Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2020 Animal Bioscience Vol.33 No.3

Objective: This study performed a meta-analysis of published trials to determine the effects of zinc on the immune response and production performance of broilers. Methods: A database was built from published literature regarding the addition of zinc forms or doses and their relation to the immune response and production performance of broilers. Different doses or forms of zinc were identified in the database. The recorded parameters were related to the immune response and production performance. The database contained a total of 323 data points from 41 studies that met the criteria. Then, the data were processed for a meta-analysis using a mixed model methodology. The doses or different forms of zinc were considered fixed effects, different studies were treated as random effects, and p-values were used as the model statistics. Results: An increase in zinc dose increased (p<0.05) pancreas metallothionein (MT) and zinc concentrations in the plasma, tibia and meat, all in quadratic patterns, but linearly decreased (p<0.05) the heterophil/lymphocyte (H/L) ratio. Regarding the different zinc forms, both inorganic and organic zinc increased (p<0.05) the zinc concentrations in the plasma and tibia, the calcium and phosphorus contents in the tibia, and the antioxidant activity of superoxide dismutase in meat as compared to control. An increase in zinc dose increased average daily gain (ADG) and decreased feed conversion ratio (FCR) following a quadratic pattern (p<0.05). Inorganic and organic zinc decreased (p<0.05) FCR and H/L ratio than that of control, but these two forms were similar for these parameters. Conclusion: Zinc addition has a positive impact on immunity and broiler production. Zinc can suppress stress and inhibit the occurrence of lipid peroxidation in broilers, and it can also improve ADG, FCR, and the quality of broiler carcasses.

A New Form of Fuzzy Generalized Bi-Ideals in Ordered Semigroups

        ( Hidayat Ullah Khan ),( Nor Haniza Sarmin ),( Asghar Khan ) 호남수학회 2014 호남수학학술지 Vol.36 No.3

In several applied disciplines like control engineering, computer sciences, error-correcting codes and fuzzy automata theory, the use of fuzzified algebraic structures especially ordered semigroups and their fuzzy subsystems play a remarkable role. In this paper, we introduce the notion of (-e,-ev-qk,)-fuzzy subsystems of ordered semigroups namely (-e,-ev-qk,)-fuzzy generalized bi-ideals of ordered semigroups. The important milestone of the present paper is to link ordinary generalized bi-ideals and (-e,-ev-qk,)-fuzzy generalized bi-ideals. Moreover, different classes of ordered semigroups such as regular and left weakly regular ordered semigroups are characterized by the properties of this new notion. Finally, the upper part of a (-e,-ev-qk,)-fuzzy generalized bi-ideal is defined and some characterizations are discussed.
