Improving Small Business Performance: The Role of Entrepreneurial Intensity and Innovation
SUMIATI, Sumiati Korea Distribution Science Association 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.10
The Small and Medium Enterprise is currently getting more attention from the Indonesian government as the contribution of this sector to the regional and national income has increased. Though the government is providing a lot of attention as well as facilities to the small businesses in the manufacturing sector, they face intense competition. Thus, the small enterprises need to ensure that they achieve good business performance. This research aims to investigate the role of entrepreneurial intensity and innovation in improving the performance of small businesses in Indonesia. For this purpose, one hundred and eighty-six small business owners participated in the survey. The data was analyzed using Structural Equation Modelling. The hypothesis results show that entrepreneurial intensity and innovation have a proven role in business performance of small enterprises. Entrepreneurial intensity in particular, significantly impacts innovation and exploration. And innovation is crucial for business performance. The results imply that to increase business performance, the owner and the manager also need to raise their entrepreneurial spirit, as it can enhance their willingness to explore and use their business experience to do more innovation activities. The more innovation is done by the company; the business performance is more likely to improve.
Effect of zinc on the immune response and production performance of broilers: a meta-analysis
Hidayat, Cecep,Sumiati, Sumiati,Jayanegara, Anuraga,Wina, Elizabeth Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2020 Animal Bioscience Vol.33 No.3
Objective: This study performed a meta-analysis of published trials to determine the effects of zinc on the immune response and production performance of broilers. Methods: A database was built from published literature regarding the addition of zinc forms or doses and their relation to the immune response and production performance of broilers. Different doses or forms of zinc were identified in the database. The recorded parameters were related to the immune response and production performance. The database contained a total of 323 data points from 41 studies that met the criteria. Then, the data were processed for a meta-analysis using a mixed model methodology. The doses or different forms of zinc were considered fixed effects, different studies were treated as random effects, and p-values were used as the model statistics. Results: An increase in zinc dose increased (p<0.05) pancreas metallothionein (MT) and zinc concentrations in the plasma, tibia and meat, all in quadratic patterns, but linearly decreased (p<0.05) the heterophil/lymphocyte (H/L) ratio. Regarding the different zinc forms, both inorganic and organic zinc increased (p<0.05) the zinc concentrations in the plasma and tibia, the calcium and phosphorus contents in the tibia, and the antioxidant activity of superoxide dismutase in meat as compared to control. An increase in zinc dose increased average daily gain (ADG) and decreased feed conversion ratio (FCR) following a quadratic pattern (p<0.05). Inorganic and organic zinc decreased (p<0.05) FCR and H/L ratio than that of control, but these two forms were similar for these parameters. Conclusion: Zinc addition has a positive impact on immunity and broiler production. Zinc can suppress stress and inhibit the occurrence of lipid peroxidation in broilers, and it can also improve ADG, FCR, and the quality of broiler carcasses.

Wireless Communication network is an inescapable reality of our days, being part of curricular proposed by almost all institute. Effective learning and teaching of wireless communication however, require student to visualize and illustrate in understanding the technical and how the communication network is operates. This paper recommends a conceptual framework to overcome the inability student in learning wireless communication network course which is complex and difficult especially for novice student. The aim of the course is to teach student not only programming and hardware design but also basic team-work and project management skills in the field of wireless networks through the active learning using the tools that we proposed. In this paper we proposed the architecture named Wireless Kit (Wkits) as one of the support tools that help novice student in enhancing their understanding of learning wireless communication. This kits focus in wireless communication such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and FRID technology.

For a doctor, diagnosing a patient's heart disease is not easy. It takes the ability and experience with high flying hours to be able to accurately diagnose the type of patient's heart disease based on the existing factors in the patient. Several studies have been carried out to develop tools to identify types of heart disease in patients. However, most only focus on the results of patient answers and lab results, the rest use only echocardiography data or electrocardiogram results. This research was conducted to test how accurate the results of the classification of heart disease by using two medical data, namely echocardiography and electrocardiogram. Three treatments were applied to the two medical data and analyzed using the decision tree approach. The first treatment was to build a classification model for types of heart disease based on echocardiography and electrocardiogram data, the second treatment only used echocardiography data and the third treatment only used electrocardiogram data. The results showed that the classification of types of heart disease in the first treatment had a higher level of accuracy than the second and third treatments. The accuracy level for the first, second and third treatment were 78.95%, 73.69% and 50%, respectively. This shows that in order to diagnose the type of patient's heart disease, it is advisable to look at the records of both the patient's medical data (echocardiography and electrocardiogram) to get an accurate level of diagnosis results that can be accounted for.
