Purposes :The purposes of this study was to investigate the self-managing status according to the life styles and the diabetic knowledge of early adulthood. The subjects in this study were 240people, the early adult aged twenties to thirties living in the metropolitan area. Data were collected by using self-administered questionnaires that measure about the knowledge of diabetes; the dietetic behavior; the knowledge of diet; the exercise behavior; the knowledge of exercise. Descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and correlation were used for data analysis. Result :1. At the knowledge of diabetes degree based on the general character, the subjects who had experiences of diabetic education have higher degree of the diabetic knowledge. 2. At the knowledge of diabetes degree according to the life style, the subjects who have regular diet are appeared highly. Also the subjects who don't take much food of animal origin have higher degree. 3. At the knowledge of diet based on the life style, the subjects who don't keep three times meals a day are appeared highly. Also the subjects who have regular diet have higher degree. 4. At the knowledge of exercise according to the life style, the subjects who take extra nutritions 3-4 times a week are appeared highly. Although the subjects tend to know about dietary, exercise and health management, it showed that they actually don't perform what they know in their everyday of life. The reason for this could be the lack of perceived seriousness about diabetes mellitus. Thus as nursing professionals, we should provide them proper health education and support. Moreover, advanced research on the empowerment is warranted.

Flowering on time is a critically important for successful reproduction of plants. Here we report an early-flowering mutant in Arabidopsis thaliana, accelerated flowering 1-1D (afl1-1D) that exhibited pleiotropic developmental defects including semi-dwarfism, curly leaf, and increased branching. Genetic analysis showed that afl1-1D mutant is a single, dominant mutant. Chromosomal mapping indicates that AFL1 resides at the middle of chromosome 4, around which no known flowering-related genes have been characterized. Expression analysis and double mutant studies with late flowering mutants in various floral pathways indicated that elevated FT is responsible for the early-flowering of afl1-1D mutant. Interestingly, not only flowering-related genes, but also several floral homeotic genes were ectopically overexpressed in the afl1-1D mutants in both FT-dependent and -independent manner. The degree of histone H3 Lys27-trimethylation (H3K27me3) was reduced in several chromatin including FT, FLC, AG and SEP3 in the afl1-1D, suggesting that afl1-1D might be involved in chromatin modification. In support, double mutant analysis of afl1-1D and lhp1-4 revealed epistatic interaction between afl1-1D and lhp1-4 in regard to flowering control. Taken together, we propose that AFL1 regulate various aspect of development through chromatin modification, particularly associated with H3K27me3 in A. thaliana.

Self-passivated copper as a gate electrode in the form of TiOxNy/Cu/Ti/SiO2 has been obtained by exposing Cu/Ti/SiO2 to mixed of N2/H2 plasma at a low temperature of 300℃. The use of the plasma provides an additional surface heating source, allowing the Ti atoms to outdiffuse to the Cu surface at 300℃ and to react to form a passivation layer on the surface. The H2 plasma transforms the Ti layer into titanium hydride, which effectively inhibits the Cu-Ti reaction and serves as a diffusion barrier against Cu metallization. The TiNxOy/Cu/Ti/SiO2 multilayer formed at the low temperature can be used as a gate electrode in thin-film transistor liquid crystal displays (TFT-LCDs) and exhibits a gate voltage swing of 0.943 V/decade, a threshold voltage of -1.07 V, a mobility of 0.669 cm2/V-s and a Ion/Ioff ratio of 8.18×106. Consequently, this low- temperature plasma processing will allow a reliable passivated gate electrode, which can be utilized in low-temperature amorphous Si thin-film transistor liquid crystal displays, to be formed.
Production of Interferon Tau and TGF-β by Porcine Embryos

In pigs, expression and amounts of biologically active interferon tau (IFNT) and transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) at the conceptus-maternal interface increase significantly as conceptuses elongate and begin the implantation process. Epidermal growth factor (EGF) acts through EGF receptor (EGFR) present in the blastocyst seems to regulate embryonic production of IFNT. To understand the mechanisms regulating the interaction between the hatched blastocyst and maternal uterine environment, the production of IFNT and TGF-β were investigated. Hatched pig blastocysts (days 7~10) were cultured and exposed to EGF (0, 1, 10 and 100 ng/mL) for 24, 48 and 72 h. Protein concentrations of IFNT in the cultured media were determined by commercial enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kit. Epidermal growth factor (10 and 100 ng/mL) increased embryonic production of IFNT and TGF-β production by hatched blastocysts. The above results suggest that epidermal growth factor produced by epithelial cell stimulates the production of IFNT by pig trophoblasts. The capacity of conceptus to increase IFNT and TGF-β production in response to EGF stimulation may be important for the establishment of pregnancy in pig.
Estrus synchronization affects galectin-3, FGF-9 signaling in the sow reproductive tract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of estrus synchronization to altrenogest regumate (progesterone), PMSG/hCG, and artificial insemination (AI) on galectin-3, FGF-9 gene and protein expression. The morpho-metrical parameters of the endometrium and the number of corpora lutea (CL) were recorded. RNA was isolated from endometrial, oviduct and ovary tissues of non-synchronized (Control; n = 7) and AI synchronized (regumate, PMSG/hCG; n = 7) sows. The total number of CL was higher (P<0.05) in pigs treated with regumate/PMSG/hCG. The content of gelactin-3 and FGF-9 mRNA in pre-embryonic development stages increased on particular days, in control and studied in regumate/PMSG/hCG administered pigs. Gelactin-3 and FGF-9 were affected by regumate/PMSG/hCG treatment in the both pre-embryonic development stages (P<0.001, P<0.05) and encdometrial tissue (P<0.001, P<0.01). The regumate/PMSG/hCG treatment resulted in elevated expression of gelactin-3 (P<0.001) and FGF-9 (P<0.005) in oviduct and ovary tissues in comparison to control sows. Moreover, oviduct amount of gelectin-3 mRNA was higher in regumate/PMSG/hCG sows in comparison to the control group (P<0.05), whereas, expression characteristics of gelactin-3 and FGF-9 were investigated by hematoxylin and eosin stained and immunohistochemical staining. The results showed that galectin-3 and FGF-9 were significantly shown in the endometrium, oviduct and ovary tissues of the regumate/PMSG/ hCG. Presented data show that exogenous hormones administration can affect gene and protein expression in the sow reproductive tract.

An intensive study was performed by the psychiatrist and clinical psychologist to evaluate the characteristics of the relations of family triangle and intrafamilial environment which assumed to be the pathologic influence on the formative processes of schizophrenic patients. 18 cases of chronic schizophrenic patients and their families were studied by the psychiatric interview and clinical psychological tests i. e. Rorschach test, sentence completion test and T. A. T. The results were interpreted in terms of parents-children relations and interrelation of parents. It is assumed that there exists deep interdependency in the mother-child relations. The predominant featues of mothers' attiude toward children seemed to be highly overprotective. The interrelations of parents are characterized as to be cold and hostile without affective ties. The characteristics of father's attitude are emasculated. These features are seemingly equal to that of the mothers of schizophrenics and the mutual relation of parents of schizophrenics assumed by Lidz. Wynne and other investigators in the western society. Furthur studies on this problems would be stimulated along the lines of transcultural comparisons.
