암모니아 산화 세균 Xanthomonas maltophilia SU6 와 Achromobacter sp. 12A에 의한 nitrite 생성의 비교

암모니아를 NO_2^-로 산화, 이용하는 미생물 균주들을 한강 주변의 토양에서 분리하였으며, 이들은 Xanthomonas maltophilia SU6와 Achromobacter sp. 12A로 동정하였다. 이 균주들을 암모니아가 첨가된 액체 최소 배지에서 2주 동안 배양한 후, 생성되는 NO_2^-의 양을 측정하여 암모니아 산화의 활성을 조사하였다. 생장 최적 pH는 Xanthomonas maltophilia SU6 와 Achromobacter sp. 12A 균주가 7.0-8.0 이었으며, 생장에 필요한 무기질소원으로서 NH_4Cl 의 최적 기질 농도는 두 균주가 모두 10mM 이었다. 암모니아 산화 균주의 활성을 높이기 위하여 Xanthomonas maltophilia SU6와 Achromobacter sp. 12A를 12시간 배양한 후에 50mM의 hydroxylamine을 배지에 첨가하였을 때 각각 467㎍/1, 641㎍/1 의 NO_2^-를 유도 생성하였다. Hydroxylamine oxidase 의 활성에 미치는 기질의 영향을 규명하기 위하여 Xanthomonas maltophilia SU6 와 Achromobacter sp. 12A를 8시간 동안 암모니아가 포함된 최소배지에서 배양한 후에, hydroxylamine 을 첨가한 결과 hydroxylamine oxidase 의 비활성은 109units/㎎ protein 와 132 units/㎎ protein 으로 증가하였다. Hydroxylamine oxidase 의 최적 pH는 7.5, 최적 온도는 30℃ 였으며, 열에 대한 안정성에서는 Xanthomonas maltophilia SU6 와 Achromobacter sp. 12A 는 50℃, 60분에서 각각 30%와 25%의 안정성을 보여주었다.

Objectives : This study was prepared for investigating the clinical features of stroke patients. Methods : We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 102 patients who were admitted to Department of Internal Medicine, College of Oriental Medicine, Kyung-Won University with a diagnosis of stroke from Jan. 1, 2004 to Dec. 31, 2004. Results : Ischemic stroke(include TIA, 82.4%) was more common than hemorrhagic stroke(17.6%). The incidence in male was 41.2%, in female was 17.6% and the most prevalent age group is over-sixties. Cerebral infarction was most frequently noticed in lacunar-infarction and hemorrhage in putamen. Hypertention, the most preceding diseases, followed by diabetes mellitus and CVA. The rate of recurrence was 27.45%. Cerebral infarction and cerebral hemorrhage was much occurred after rising. The most patients visited the hospital within 24 Hours. The most common symptoms in admission time were motor weakness and speech disorder. The complication was mostly mental disorder. Conclusion : Our study on CVA patients was similar to previous studies from 1994 to 2003. In most cases, western and oriental treatment and medicine were given synthetically.
Concurrent Design Methodology for GRIMDOL Microprocessor System

In this paper, a concurrent design methodology of GRIMDOL microprocessor and its related systems including application board, compiler and application software targeted for cost-effective DTP(Deak-Top Publishing) system or two-dimensional graphic system is presented. After the instruction set design based on application software analysis such as PostScript Interpreter and primitive graphic routines, ISS(Instruction Set Simulator) and VHDL model of GRIMDOL microprocessor were developed, which were used as the starting point of three concurrent design activities, i.e., logic design of GRIMDOL microprocessor, application board and application software.

<B>Objective</B><P>Although oral tolerance is a well-known phenomenon, the role of dendritic cells (DCs) is not well characterized. This study was conducted to better understand the differential role played by each Peyer's patch DC subset in the induction of oral tolerance to type II collagen (CII) in murine collagen-induced arthritis (CIA).</P><B>Methods</B><P>CII was fed 6 times to DBA/1 mice beginning 2 weeks before immunization, and the effect on arthritis was assessed. We compared the proportion of CD11c+,CD11b+ DCs and CD11c+,CD8α+ DCs in the Peyer's patches of CII-fed tolerized and phosphate buffered saline–fed nontolerized mice after the induction of CIA. The immunosuppressive properties of each DC subset were determined using fluorescence-activated cell sorter analysis for intracellular interleukin-10 (IL-10) and IL-12 and mixed lymphocyte culture. The ability of each DC subset to induce CD4+,CD25+ T regulatory cells was also examined. Mice were injected with CII-pulsed CD11c+,CD11b+ DCs isolated from Peyer's patches of tolerized mice, and the effect on CIA was examined.</P><B>Results</B><P>The severity of arthritis was significantly lower in tolerized mice. The proportion of CD11c+,CD11b+ DCs was increased in the Peyer's patches of tolerized mice and those DCs exhibited immunosuppressive characteristics, such as increased IL-10 production, inhibition of T cell proliferative responses to CII, and CD4+,CD25+ regulatory T cell induction. Furthermore, the CD11c+,CD11b+ DCs suppressed the severity of arthritis upon adoptive transfer.</P><B>Conclusion</B><P>Our observations demonstrate that CD11c+,CD11b+ DCs, which are abundant in Peyer's patches during the induction of oral tolerance to CII, are crucial for the suppression of CIA and could be exploited for immunotherapy of autoimmune diseases.</P>

Examining a causal effect of Gyeonggi innovation schools in Korea

This study evaluated the policy impact of the Gyeonggi innovation school movement. Of primary concern was whether or not the effect of the school reform observed from the survey data might be due to selection bias, that is, if the policy effect would be confounded with other covariates. Thus based on the analytical framework of the Rubin causal model, this study estimated causal effects of Gyeonggi innovation schools. From the results of multilevel analysis with matched high schools and weighting individual observations of Gyeonggi Education Panel Study 2012 (GEPS 2012) by propensity scores, this study did not find positive evidence of Gyeonggi innovation schools on academic achievement. However students’ school satisfaction was much higher in innovation schools than their counterparts.
