        Optical absorption, thermally stimulated luminescence(TSL) and TSL emission spectra of uv-grade single-crystal Al₂O₃have been conducted in the temperature range 77-300K. Two kinds of samples was studied. CS sample had been grown in reduced atomosphere environment and Linde sample in oxidizing environment. A typical absorption curve of CS sample exhibits a intense peak near 6.1eV. Linde sample shows a intense peak near 6eV and two weak peaks at 5.4eV and 4.8eV after neutron irradiation. Glow curves of CS sample resulting from uv irradiation at 77k exhibit maxima at 258K (thermal activation energy calculated by Initial Rise method: E=0.72eV, emission spectrum peak:410nm) and 285K(E could not be deduced). A new peak was appeared at 225K(E=0.56eV, 410nm) when bleached at 200K. From Linde crystal, a intense glow peak was observed at 285K(E=0.77eV, 320nm) and weak one at 220K(E=0.53eV, 315nm). The dependence of the intensity of glow peaks on the excitation wavelength was also examined. Experimental results suggest that the 258K and 225K peaks of CS sample are due to the thermal release of trapped electrons which recombine with existing F+ centers producing F centers in an excited state. De-excitation of these centers produces near 410nm radiation. The 285K and 220K peaks of Linde sample are attributed to the thermal release of trapped holes that recombine with electrons of the F centers converting them to excited-state F+ centers which relax to the ground state emitting near 320nm radiation.

        In this paper, we fabricated a persistent current mode magnet using Bi-2223 HTS tapes. The coil system consists of double pancake magnet and a persistent current switch and jointed them with solder. Persistent current mode operation of the system was measured experimentally by the decay behavior of the current. We found that resistive component of the system including flux flow resistance lead the exponentially field decay with time.

      • Studies on the Activation Mechanism of c-src Protein Tyrosine Kinase by Ginsenoside-Rg1

        We have studied an activation mechanism of pp60^(c-src) protein tyrosine kinase (PTK) by ginsenoside-Rg₁ (G-Rg₁) in NIH(pMcsrc/foc)B c-src overexpressor cells. It was previously reported that G-Rg₁ stimulated the activation of c-src kinase at 20 μM with a 18 hr-incubation, increasing the activity by 2-4-fold over that of untreated control, and this effect was blocked by treatments of inhibitors of either protein synthesis (cycloheximide) or RNA synthesis (actinomycin D) (Hong. H.Y. et al. Arch. Pharm. Res. 16, 114 (1993)). However, an amount of c-src protein itself in wild-type cells was not changed by G-Rg₁. When the cells mutated at one or two tyrosine residue(s) (Y416/527) that are important sites to regulate the kinase activity were treated with G-Rg₁, increases both in the activity of c-src kinase and in the expression of the protein were not observed. In addition, removal of extracellular calcium ion by EGTA or inhibition of PKC by H-7 canceled the G-Rg₁-induced activation of the kinase. Although the activation was little affected by G-Rg₁ with a calcium ionophore A23187, it was synergistically stimulated by treatment of G-Rg₁ and PMA, a PKC activator. Taken together, these results suggest that the activation of c-src kinase by G-Rg₁ is caused by an increase in the specific activity of the kinase, but not in amount of it, and is involved with both cellular calcium ion and PKC. Further the increase in the specific activity of c-src kinase may result from altered phosphorylation at tyr-416 and -527.

      • 부재료 첨가에 따른 갓김치의 항산화성

        Antioxidative activities (AA) of mustard leaf kimchi (MLK) by the addition of optional ingredients among selected minor materials were studied. In order to determine AA of MLK with different spices, the model systems of ground cooked beef with green onion, garlic, and red pepper powder were prepared and stored for 4 weeks at 4℃. AA of red pepper added group was stronger than those of others. AA of red MLK was relatively higher than that of (green) MLK. For the enhancement of AA of MLK, another model systems were prepared with the selected antioxidative optional ingredients, which were bonnet bellflower root, leek, burdock, sea tangle, sea mustard, seastaghorn at the level of 2% or 4%. The extracts of water, 75% methanol and hexane of MLK, bonnet bellflower root added MLK, and seastaghorn added MLK had a considerable AA with the inhibition of peroxide formation during the autioxidation of linoleic acid mixtures in aqueous model systems at 37℃. Therefore, AA was more effective in MLK containing specific optional ingredients than that of MLK alone significantly.

      • 프레스 금형의 특징형상 인식에 의한 가공데이타 자동변환

        This paper presents an automatic conversion of machining data from the orthographic views of press mold by feature recognition rule. The system includes following 6 modules : separation of views, function support, dimension text check and feature processing modules. The characteristic of this system is that with minimum user intervention, it recognizes basic features such as holes, slots, pockets and clamping parts and thus automatically converts CAD drawing details of press mold into machining data using 2D CAD system instead of using an expensive 3D Modeler. The system is developed by using IBM-PC in the environment of AutoCAD R12, AutoLISP and MetaWare High C. Performance of the system is verified as a good interfacing of CAD and CAM when applied to a lot of sample drawing.

      • 식도발성의 숙련 정도에 따른 모음의 음향학적 특징과 자음 산출에 대한 연구

        Esophageal Speech uses the esophageal air during phonation. Fluent esophageal speakers frequently intake air in oral communication, but unskilled esophageal speakers are difficult with swallowing lots of air. The purpose of this study was to investigate the different of acoustic characteristics of vowel and consonants production according to the speech proficiency level in esophageal speech. 13 normal male speakers and 13 male esophageal speakers (5 unskilled esophageal speakers, 8 skilled esophageal speakers) with age ranging from 50 to 70 years old. The stimuli were sustained /a/ vowel and 36 meaningless two syllable words. Used vowel is /a/ and consonants were 18 : /k, n, t, m, p, s, c, ch, kh, th, ph, h, I, k', t', p', s', c'/. Fundamental frequency (Fx), Jitter, shimmer, HNR, MPT were measured with by electroglottography using Lx speech studio (Laryngograph Ltd, London, UK). 36 meaningless words produced by esophageal speakers were presented to 3 speech-language pathologists who phonetically transcribed their responses. Fx, Jitter, HNR parameters is significant different between skilled esophageal speakers and unskilled esophageal speakers (P<.05). Considering manner of articulation, ANOVA showed that differences in two esophageal speech groups on speech proficiency were significant; Glide had the highest number of confusion with the other phoneme class, affricates are the most intelligible in the unskilled esophageal speech group, whereas in the skilled esophageal speech group fricatives resulted highest number of confusions, nasals are the most intelligible. In the place of articulation, glottal /h/ is the highest confusion consonant in both groups. Bilabials are the most intelligible in the skilled esophageal speech; velars are the most intelligible in the unskilled esophageal speech. In the structure of syllable, 'CV+V' is more confusion in the skilled esophageal group, unskilled esophageal speech group has similar confusion in both structures. In unskilled esophageal speech, significantly different Fx, Jitter, HNR acoustic parameters of vowel and the highest confusions of Liquid, Nasals consonants could be attributed to unstable, improper contact of neoglottis as vibratory source and insufficiency in the phonatory air supply, and higher motoric demand of remaining articulation due to morphological characteristics of vocal tract after laryngectomy.

      • 개심술(開心術)의 임상적 고찰 : 치험 200예 200 Cases

        Background and Objectives: Two hundred cases of the open heart surgery due to congenital and acquired heart disease were done using the cardiopulmonary bypass in the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular surgery, Chosun University Hospital from November, 1980 to June, 2001. Material and Methods: The number of congenital heart disease was 132 cases. 68 cases were acquired heart disease. 'The age of the congenital heart disease was from 22 days to 45 years. In the acquired heart disease, the age was from 14 to 72 years. Result: Congenital heart disease consisted of 113 congenital acyanotic heart disease, 19 congenital cyanotic heart disease. Corrective operation was done for congenital heart disease with 4. 5 % operative mortality. Of 68 cases acquired heart disease, 44 patients were valvular heart disease, 3 cardiac tumors, 9 ischemic heart diseases, 12 aortic dissections and etc. The operative mortality was 13%. Conclusion: The postoperative complications were appeared in 68 cases and the complications were wound infection, occipital alopecia, low cardiac output syndrome, arrhythmia, septicemia etc. The mortality after open heart surgery was 15 cases and the causes of death were low cardiac output syndrome, septicemia, respiratory failure and left ventricle rupture.
