      • Vascular Protective Role of Samul-Tang in HUVECs: Involvement of Nrf2/HO-1 and NO

        <P>Samul-Tang (Si-Wu-Tang, SMT), composed of four medicinal herbs, is a well-known herbal formula treating hematological disorder or gynecologic disease. However, vascular protective effects of SMT and its molecular mechanisms on the vascular endothelium, known as the central spot of vascular inflammatory process, are not reported. The aim of this study was to investigate vascular protective effects of SMT water extract in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs). Water extract of SMT was prepared and identified by HPLC-PDA analysis. Expression of cell adhesion molecules (CAMs) and heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) and translocation of nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-<I>κ</I>B) and nuclear factor-erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) were determined by western blot. Nuclear localization of NF-<I>κ</I>B and Nrf2 was visualized by immunofluorescence and DNA binding activity of NF-<I>κ</I>B was measured. ROS production, HL-60 monocyte adhesion, and intracellular nitric oxide (NO) were also measured using a fluorescent indicator. SMT suppressed NF-<I>κ</I>B translocation and activation as well as expression of CAMs, monocyte adhesion, and ROS production induced by TNF-<I>α</I> in HUVECs. SMT treated HUVECs showed upregulation of HO-1 and NO which are responsible for vascular protective action. Our study suggests that SMT, a traditionally used herbal formula, protects the vascular endothelium from inflammation and might be used as a promising vascular protective drug.</P>

      • 저전압 구동 박막 EL소자를 위한 PLT 절연막의 제조 및 그 특성

        To be thrived at low voltage of a thin film EL device(TFEL), PLT insulating layer was fabricated, and its characteristics were measured. PLT layer was deposited on an ITO coated glass by RF magnetron sputtering at 500℃ of substrate temperature and 30 mTorr of working pressure. From the result, it can be concluded that low threshold voltage is taken place by high relative dielectric constant and high breakdown field of PLT insulating layer. Its relative dielectric constant and electric breakdown field were 120 and 3.2 MV/cm, respectively. And figure of merit and electrical resistivity were 384 and 2.0×1012Ωㆍcm.

        우리나라 東南部 古里海域에서 1978年 9月 4日부터 10月 3日까지 自動流速計에 依해 觀測된 海流記錄이 一貫된 分析體系를 通해 分析되었다. 觀測海流 및 恒流의 時計方向, 反時計方向 回轉스펙트럼을 求하기 爲하여 回轉成分方法이 利用되었다. 潮流의 主要分潮의 調和常數를 求하기 爲한 潮流分析이 遂行되었다. 硏究의 窮極的인 目的은 追後 黃海 및 東支那海의 海流觀測資料를 整然하게 處理하여 陸棚力學硏究에 寄與하는데 있다. A Current meter data recorded from 4 September to 3 October, 1978 at Kori Point, southeastern part of Korea was processed in systematic manner and analyzed with rotary component method to provide clockwise and anti-clockwise rotary spectra. A tidal analysis was performed to estimate harmonic constant of principal components of the tidal current.

        Using Observer, on the sensorless vector control system is a novel techniques for modern induction motor control. In this paper, a speed estimation algorithm of an induction motor using an extended kalman filter was proposed. Extended kalman filter can solve the problem, that have steady state error of estimated speed in flux and slip estimation method. The extended Kalman filter is employed to identify the speed of an induction motor and rotor flux based on the measured quantities such as stator current and DC link voltage. In order to confirming above proposal, computer simulation carried out control drives for using Matlab Simulink and show the effectiveness of the control drives for induction motor speed estimation.

        A two-dimensional hydrodynamics-numerical model was established to investigate the hydraulic process in the vicinity of large steel mill cnstructed on the reclaimed platform at the estuary of Sumjin River, Kwang Yang Bay. The developed model was first used to simulate M_2 tide in the estuary. The computed results were presented in the form of tidal ellipses, maximum bottom stress and energy dissipation and discussions were also made for furture development of the model.

        Open-face Stainless Steel Crown을 이용한 유전치의 치료에 대한 증례보고

        In spite of the improvements of the techniques in the field of preventive dentistry, many children still present with extensive destruction of primary anterior teeth. Not only the practioner must consider the pulp state of the primary incisor, but also restore the form, function and esthetics of the tooth. Restorative treatment of primary incisor tooth requires durability, retention and esthetics. Stainless steel crowns used in restoring primary anterior teeth is retentive and durable in comparison with the composite resin, celluloid crown. But they are not esthetic. To enhance the esthetics of the anterior stainless steel crown without reducing its superior retention, an open-face stainless steel crown has been suggested. Several authors have suggested cutting away the labial portion of the stainless steel crown and placing the composite resin in that area. By following this technique, the practioner can prepare a retentive, durable, and esthetic restoration for primary teeth which have suffered from extensive loss of teeth structure. In addition, the single missing primary anterior teeth can be successfully restored by soldering the stainless steel crown together. Open-face stainless steel crown is indicated in the areas of large interproximal lesions involving incisal edge, crown fracture with pulp exposure and congenital malformation of the teeth. By this technique, the practioner can restore primary anterior teeth successfully regardless of the amount of remaining tooth structure, bruxism habit and presence of attrition. In this case, rampant caries with extensive loss of tooth structure and single missing of primary anterior tooth hart been successfully treated with open-face stainless steel crown.

      • 殘留應力을 考慮한 鎔接材의 疲勞龜裂 進展擧動에 關한 硏究

        The effect of welding residual stress on the initiation and propagation of fatigue crack is investigated so as to study the fatigue behavior in welding residual stress field. Especially, the relation between welding residual stress and fatigue crack opening behavior is investigated and the redistribution of residual stress as a fatigue crack propagates is examined. Following results are obtained. 1) In case of the load range is constant, as the stress ratio is changing to 0.1, 0.33, 0.5 the propagation life is constant but the growth life decreases. And than, when maximum load or minimum load is constant, as the stress ratio increases the growth life and propagation life increase. 2) The fatigue crack propagations rate da/dN appears to accelerate when the stress intensity factor range ΔK is less than 15MPa-m^1/2. 3) The residual stress that is appeared by welding decreases after cutting. 4) Fatigue crack propagation ratio is affected by tensional and compressible residual stress at the initial time, but it's similar to the original in the more than 20mm of crack length.

      • 관광의 지속가능성(ST)구조 : 개념 모델의 개발

        The purpose of this research is to build up the theoretical model which is structural and conceptual for the measurement of the Sustainability of Tourism(ST) in the tourist destination, founded upon the philosophy that environments, natural, cultural and social, should be preserved from the tourism as well as for the tourism. For the designation of the study model are chased and recombined previous related research results, which are roughly divided into four categories; ① Environments→Tourism System→Environments Model, ② Tourism Impacts as the Social Exchanges and Destination Residents' Attitude Model, ③ Tourism pro or anti Circulation Model, ④ Pressure→State→Response Model. As the result of these literature and article reviews is composed the exploratory study model in the context of conceptualization and structuralization as bellows, which can be applied to the practical measurement of the ST in the tourist destination. ◁그림삽입▷(원문을 참조하세요) Finally is proposed the methods and procedures for the empirical application of this study model to the measurement of ST and is discovered the policy implications, after which is discussed study subjects in need of continued research.
