        Four Properties and five Flavors of Drugs is interpreted by adaptation of human body to the environmental theory(天人相應). The Structural model of the body is compared with sky, earth, sun and moon (天, 地, 日, 月). The natural changes of the four seasons give rise to that of Four Properties and five Flavors of Drugs. On equal terms it is happened in our body. On this study we can draw an analogy between sky, earth, sun & moon (天, 地, 日, 月) and the body. The six bu(六腑) is related to the earth, the five ju(五主) to the sky, the five jang(五臟) to the sun, the meridians system (經絡) to the moon. When spring, the air is warm, the water element of the earth is ascending, and the earth gives birth to the sour flavor. Like this, the water element is absorbed by six bu and then is ascended to the meridian system. When summer, the air is hot and the water element of the earth is floated, the earth make the bitter flavor. In the same way, the six bu absorbed the hot air from the five ju and the water element is quickly absorbed by six bu and then the water element is ascended to the meridian system. When rainy season (長夏), the earth creates the sweet flavor The sweet flavor give warmer energy to the five jang and the six bu. When autumn, the earth change the sweet flavor into pungent. The earth gives warmer energy to the sky, because of cool weather According to same process, the pungent flavor give warmer energy to the five jang and the six bu, and the meridian system gets back the water element from the five ju. When winter, the air is cold and the water element of the earth is hidden. The sky and the earth are not interchangeable. At that time, the earth produce the salty flavor and the water element is keeping in the meridian system.

      • 新安海域의 海洋學的 特性에 關한 硏究

        The purpose of this paper lies in collecting fundamental data which can contribute to basic studies on oceanograph and activities in fishery and marine industry by examining the oceanographical characteristics of the Shin-an sea area. To collect the fundamental data, the author examined oceanographical elements such as temperature, precipitation, water temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, transparency, pH, and nutruents in the Shin-an sea area, in February, May, September, and November in 1981 and 1982. The result of this study is as follows. The transparency and water temperature are high in summer when air temperature is high and the amount of precipitation is large, and low in winter when the amount of precipitation is small. This phenomenon shows that water temperature increases in proportion to air temperature. The precipitation in September 1981 was 548.2mm, which is the largest amount. Salinity is 29.95‰ lowest in September because of the influx of lots of land water to the Shin-an sea area. And it is 33.62‰ highest in Fevruary. pH was low in September when air temperature and water temperature are high and the amount of precipitation is small, but a little high in spring and winter. But the range of pH proves to be narrow and pH of the Shin-an sea area is almost the same as the average pH of sea water. NO^-_2-N, PO^-_4-P and a nutrient prevail in September when there is a large amount of precipitation. This phenomenon seems to have resulted from the influx of large amounts of organic matter as well as a large amount of precipitation from the land. During studying the oceanographical elements. the amount of NO^-_2-N is not changed according to the change of season : that is, there is no correlation between the amount of NO^-_2-N and oceanographical elements. But PO^-_4-P appeared in the largest amount in winter and in the smallest amount in spring. Dissolved oxygen is 7.20cc/ℓ in February which is the highest amount, and 4.12cc/ℓ in September, the lowest amount. This phenomenon seems to have resulted from the consumption of large amount of dissolved oxygen that is related to oxidization of organic matter and the breathing of plants and animals.

        현재 금형공장에서는 변화하는 시장에 빠른 반응을 보이고, 생산하고 있는 제품의 높은 품질과 낮은 가격을 보장하기 위하여 기존 시스템과 인터넷을 접목하려는 많은 시도를 하고 있다. 금형공장에는 ETO(Engineering-To-Order) 방식의 제조방식과 사출금형의 특수성으로 인하여 표준견적 시스템의 개발이 어렵다. 그리고 영업과 수주에 반영할 객관적인 정보가 없으며, 고객의 요청 시 실시간으로 확인 가능한 정보가 존재하지 않는다. 이러한 금형공장의 특징을 반영하고, 문제점을 극복할 수 있는 협업적 전자주문 처리 시스템의 프레임윅(framework)을 설계하고, 또한 각 세부 모듈인 견적가격 산정기능(Cost Estimation Tool), 납기 가능일자 산정기능(Leadtime Tool), 주문상황 응답처리 기능(Order Status Tool), 작업상황 파악기능(Shop Status Tool)을 설계한다. 그리고 현장 적용이 가능하도록 하기 위하여 금형공장의 업무 프로세스를 분석한다. 그리고 주문처리 프로세스의 UMM방법론 모델링을 통하여 윈형(prototype) 시스템을 설계 및 개발하고자 한다.

        기종성 신우신염의 임상양상 및 사망위험인자

        Background : Emphysematous pyelonephritis (EPN) is an acute gas forming necrotizing infection of the renal parenchyma with high mortality. Although its incidence is relatively low, it mostly occurs in patients wiith diabetes mellitus. The aim of the study is to identify the risk factors related to mortality and assess the outcome of managements according to the radiologic classification. Materials and Methods : The clinical records of 23 patients diagnosed with EPN were reviewed retrospectively. The cases were grouped into two types on the basis of computed tomography scan. Type 1 EPN was defined as renal necrosis and gas formation with total absence of fluid content. Type 2 EPN was defined as the presence of renal or perirenal fluid in association with bubbly or loculated gas pattern. The patients' symptoms, performed investigations, and treatments were analyzed. Results : All patients had diabetes mellitus. Escherichia coli (78.6%) was the most common pathoqen in urine and blood cultures. The factors showing statistically significant differences between survivors and non-survivors were age (P=0.013), the presence of obstructive uropathy (P= 0.008), and type 1 group (P=0.030). Multivariate logistic regression showed that factor significantly related to death was age (odds ratio=1.20, 95% confidence interval 1.01-1.38, P=0.037). Conservative treatment including antibiotics and percutaneous drainage was successful in type 2 group, Overall mortality was 26.1%; all expired patients were from type 1 group. The mortality of conservative treatment and nephrectomy in type 1 group was 83.3% and 20.0%, respectively. Conclusion : These results suggest that old age is a significant risk factor for mortality in patients with EPN. Nephrectomy should be considered as the main treatment option in patients with type 1 EPN.

        급성세균성전립선염의 임상적 특징 및 치료 결과

        Background : Acute bacterial prostatitis is an uncommon male urinary tract infection that is the result of severe prostatic infection mainly by gram-negative bacteria. We conducted a retrospective study to report clinical outcomes of patients with acute bacterial prostatitis. Materials and Methods : The clinical records of 49 patients diagnosed with acute bacterial prostatitis were reviewed retrospectively and patients' symptoms, investigations, and treatments were analyzed. Results : All patients presented with fever and voiding symptoms. Some patients (22.4%) had a history of prior manipulation of the lower urinary tract including transrectal prostate biopsy. Urine cultures were positive for 51% of the patients. The most common pathogen was Escherichia coli (60%), followed by Pseudomonas aeruginosa (20%) and Staphylococcus aureus (12%). The ciprofloxacin susceptibility against E. coli was 80%. All patients were treated with parenteral antibiotics in the hospital followed by oral antibiotics for average of three weeks. The major drugs used for empirical treatment were cephalosporins, aminoglycosides, and fluoroquinolones. Prostatic abscess was found in two (4.1%) Patients and chronic pelvic pain syndrome developed in six (12.2%) patients during follow-up. Conclusion : The currently used empirical antibiotics were mostly effective in the treatment of acute bacterial prostatitis. Continuous monitoring on antimicrobial susceptibility of acute bacterial prostatitis was necessary for providing proper treatment guideline.

      • 全南 南西 海岸의 物理, 化學的 特性 및 海洋環境에 關한 硏究 : 木浦 近海와 鳥島 海域을 中心으로 With special reference to the coast of Mokpo and Jodo

        The following is a abstract of the studies analyzed and synthesized on the basis of the oceanographical data on the coast of Mokpo and Jodo island, which has been Investigated by the Mokpo Branch Office of Fisheries research and development agency from 1980 to 1983 and by myself from June 1984 to April 1955. 1) The annual variation of air temperature of the Mokpo coastal area is more severe than that of the Jodo coastal area, because the Mokpo coastal area is near to a large land area and is much influenced by the atmosphere. 2) But water temperature is less varied than air temperature. However water temperature is such an important medium that it has much to do with salinity, chemical oxygen demand, dissolved oxygen, and PO_4-P. 3) Influenced by a monsoons, the average precipitation is higher in summer than in spring or autumn, and precipitation in much concerned with water temperature, chemical oxygen demand, dissolved oxygen, salinity and PO_4-P. 4) The difference of salinity concentration is little varied between the coastal area of Mokpo and Jodo island, but that of the coastal area of Jodo island is a little higher than that of Mokpo coastal. AIso, it is lower is summer than in winter, probably because of precipitation. The indication of its reciprocal relation between its concentration and precipitation ranges from -0.70 to -0.81 and dissolved oxygen represents from 0.42 to 0.80. 5) The sea water transparency of the Jodo coastal area is higher than that of Mokpo coastal area, and lower in winter than in summer. Perhaps partly because of the fast ebb and flow and monsoons from the NW, and partly because of the shallow Mokpo coastal waters and its mud flot. 6) Chemical oxygen demand is greater in the Mokpo coastal area than in the Jodo coastal area and is smaller in winter than in summer. The indication of its reciprocal relation with precipitation ranges from 0.75 to 0.97. 7) The variation of dissolved oxygen is greater in the Mokpo coastal area than on the Jodo coastal area, probably because of water temperature and precipitation. The indication of its reciprocal relation with water temperature ranges from -0.89 to -0.99 and with precipitation ranges from -0.63 to -0.79. 8) Nitrite (NO_2-N) concentration is greater in the Mokpo coastal area than in the Jodo coastal area, and greater in winter than in summer. This may result from precipitation. PO_4~P is greater in the Mokpo coastal area than in the Jodo coastal area, and greater in winter than in summer. This may result from water temperature and precipitation. The indication of its reciprocal relation with water temperature ranges from -0.41 to - 0.80.

      • Multiple Spinal Intradural Schwannomas Combined with Sequestered Lumbar Disc Herniation

        In this report, we describe a case of multiple intradural schwannomas in the spine combined with a upward sequestered disc herniation at L4-L5. It is often difficult to differentiate this tumor from lumbar disc herniation, especially a sequestered hernia. Gadolinium-enhanced MR images were a useful preoperative examination modality for differentiating these lesions from other diseases. Microscopically, the intradural tumors were successfully removed. The dura maters of the L2 and S1 were opened microsurgically, allowing the nerve fibers involved in the tumor to be identified. The involved fibers were cut around the tumor, and the lesion was resected while the intact nerve fibers were preserved. An upward sequestered lumbar disc herniation at L4-L5 was also successfully removed. Based on histological examination of the resected specimen, the tumors were diagnosed as schwannomas. Microsurgery allowed the tumors to be removed with minimal impairment from cutting of nerve fibers in the each nerve root.
