Cancer of the gastric stump, first described by Balfour in 1922, is defined as the cancer detected more than 5 years after surgery for a benign disease. We experienced a case of cancer found at the gastric stump after gastrojejunostomy in a 53 years old male patients, proven pathologically as a early cancer. He visited to our hospital with the chief complaint of epigastric pain and indigestion for 1 Months. On past history, he has been received gastrojejunostomy due to duodenal ulcer obstruction, 23 years ago, Gastrofiberscopy was done, and we could find the early gastric cancer lesions at the anterior wall of gastric angle as type Ilc+III and antrum as type IIa. The microscopic finding of the multiple endoscopic biopsies at the gastic angle and antrum revealed the adenocarcinoma of signet ring cell type infiltrated to the level of submucosa. And so, we could diagnose these lesions as a early gastric cancer in the gastric stump after gastrojejunostomy. He was treated with subtotal gastrectomy and discharged with cured condition. Therefore, we report this case with a literature review.
완전 관해된 급성 골수성 백혈병 환자의 신장에 발생한 과립성 육종 1예

저자들은 완전 관해된 급성골수성 백혈병 환자에서 콩팥에 발생한 과립성 육종 1예를 경험하였기에 문헌 고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. Granulocytic sarcoma is an extramedullary tumor composed of granulocytic precursor cells such as myeloblast or monoblast. These tumor were originally celled "Chloroma" because of the green color imparted by the heavy concentration of the enzyme myeloperoxidase present in myelogenous leukemic cells. The tumor usually develops during the course of myelogenous leukemia or myeloproliferative disorders and may represent the inital manifestation of leukemia. Rarely, granulocytic sarcoma is recognized as an isolated tumor without any evidence of leukemia. However, in such cases, leukemia generally develops within 1 to 2 years of the diagnosis of granulocytic sarcoma. Accurate inital diagnosis of granulocytic sarcoma in a nonleukemic patient may reduce the risk of subsequent acte myelocytic leukemia if appropriate chemotherapy is begun in time. We are reporting a case of a 21-year-old man who was diagnosed as having an isolated granulocytic sarcoma of the right kidney. Eight months ago, he was treated with induction chemotherapy due to acute myelocytic leukemia and complete remission was occurred.
Modified kinetic rate equation model for cooling crystallization

The kinetic rate equation (KRE) model, unlike the population balance equation model, can describe growth, nucleation, and even Ostwald ripening simultaneously. However, the KRE model cannot be applied in cooling crystallization systems. In this work, we propose a modified KRE model to describe cooling crystallization. The modified KRE model can successfully describe crystal growth and nucleation in cooling crystallization systems. In addition, the metastable zone width was simulated using the modified KRE model and compared with the experimental data in references. The results revealed that the modified KRE model could express the effect of overheating prior to cooling on the metastable zone width. As the extent of overheating increases, the metastable zone width becomes wider, which phenomenon can be clearly simulated by the modified KRE model. This modeling capability is attributed to the behavior of particle clusters that are sized less than the size of sub-nuclei. Because the population balance equation model cannot describe the metastable zone width, the modified KRE model has certain competitive advantages in its application to various crystallization systems.
