Eagle's syndrome occurs when an elongated styloid process or calcified stylohyoid ligament causes recurrent throat pain or foreign body sensation, dysphagia. It is supposed that this symptoms and signs are due to the compression of the styloid process on some neural and vascular structures. More uncommonly, symptoms such as dysphagia, tinnitus, and otalgia may occur in patients with this syndrome. It may also cause stroke due to the compression of carotid arteries. The compression depends on the size, shape, and orientation of the ossified styloid process Besides, degenerative or inflammatory changes in the tendinous portion of the styloid ligament insertion or rheumatic styloiditis may also cause this syndrome. Diagnosis can usually be made on physical examination by digital palpation of the styloid process in the tonsiller fossa. Three-dimensional computed tomography can utilized for supporting diagnosis. The treatment of Eagle's syndrome is primarily surgical. The styloid process can be shortened through an intraoral and extraoral approach. We report a 62-years-old man with the symptomatology of Eagle's syndrome and literature reviews.

Introduction: Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) has various advantages and is used favorably in many fields in dentistry. Especially, CBCT is being used as basic diagnostic tool for 3-dimensional analysis in orthognathic patient. Two-dimensional cephalograms can be synthesized from CBCT digital imaging and communications in medicine (DICOM) data. In this study, conventional cephalograms and CBCT were taken simultaneously, and representative landmarks were located and analyzed in its accuracy and reproducibility. Materials and Methods: Ten patients who had orthognathic surgery in Wonkwang University Daejeon Dental Hospital participated in this study. For each patient, CBCT and conventional cephalogram was taken. By using Ondemand (Cybermad, Korea), 2-dimensional cephalograms was established on CBCT. In addition, 19 landmarks were designated and measured by 3 orthodontists twice a week. After these landmarks were transferred to a coordinate, distance of landmark and axis, standard error, distribution degree were measured, compared and analyzed. Results: Comparing the CT ceph group and conventional cephalogram group, CT ceph group had shown shorter distance of landmark and axis in S, Hinge axis, Bpt, Ba, Or, Corpus left. Standard error of the mean shows that CT ceph group has better reproducibility in Or, Corpus left, Hinge axis at X axis and Na, U1R, U1T, Bpt, PNS, Ba Corpus left, Hinge axis at Y axis. In both groups, mean error was less than 1.00 mm, no significant difference were found between CT ceph group and conventional cephalogram group in all measurements. Furthermore, comparing two groups, each 17 landmarks out of 19 had its characteristic in distribution degree. Conclusion: No significant difference were found between CBCT composed cephalographic radiograph and conventional cephalograghic radiograph, clinical application may be possible if improved.

Pilomatricoma or calcifying epithelioma is a benign tumor of hair follicle origin. Pilomatricoma presents a slowly enlarged and asymptomatic mass that located dermal or subdermal area. It showed mostly on face and upper limb and head and neck represents 50% of all case. And it developed almostly in the first 2 decade of life. Histologically, encapsulated mass composed of solid small basophilic cells and eosinophilic ghost cells. Surgical excision is the treatment choice and rarely recurs. The purpose of this article is to represent of pilomatricoma on subauricular region that treated with mass excision and local transpositional flap. Althrough the presurgical diagnosis of pilomatricoma may be difficult, clinicians must keep in mind the differential of head and neck masses that located subdermal layers.

한약재중 중금속 분석의 정도관리에 관한 연구

Control measures for the analysis of toxic compounds such as metals, and sulfur dioxide should be developed to assure the safety of herbal medicines. Various herbal medicine was properly selected and analysed by KFDA and other methods. Samples either prepared by microwave or hot plate digestions were analysed by AA (either flame or furnace), ICP, and/or ICP-MS. Method detection limits for various metals and methods were reviewed based on applicability of these methods on the equivalency of KFDA methods. Proper quality control criteria for matrix spike recoveries (accuracy indicator) will be 70∼130% for metal analysis in herbal medicine. Relative errors expressed in relative percent difference for duplicate analysis (precision indicator) will be 15% for the same analysis. Laboratories for herbal medicine analysis can produce and report reliable data by implementing proper standardized quality control (QC) measures.

This study is the research of middle school students' sports participation and the contact into computer lewdness. The followings are conclusions. 1. The positive students participated in sports have much experience in the computer lewdness. The positive students are more sensitive than negative students in sexual behavior. The sexual response after they watch computer lewdness was positive. The positive students were more progressive than negative students in the sexual consciousness. 2. Most of the students in the response of research question have experiences of contact into the computer lewdness, the boys were exposed more than girls. They watched the computer lewdness with their friends but they don't watch it habitually. The realities of computer lewdness are inclined to recognize negatively and extensively by mass communication. 3. Their sexual behaviors when they watched the lewdness were low point below the average, the boys were more positive than girls. In the experience of acquaintance , the girls were more positive than boys. But most of the students had no sexual experience. 4. The sexual response when the students watch the scene of the lewdness was low below the average point, the girl students are negative than boys and some of the boys have the sexual desire. These present state are the common things that they have in the adolescence and they are not only because computer lewdness. Therefore we need many kinds of sex education in order not to have disgust in sex. 5. In the response of sexual consciousness, most of the students are interested in lower than average point. They are conservative and negative. The positive students in sports are more progressive than negative students.

본교 신입생의 자아개념 특성에 관한 연구

The purpose of the study is to investigate characteristics in self concept of the fresh-man in Youngin University, 1993. The study revealed conclusions as followings ; 1. Scores of freshmen are 5 points higher as compared with norm in sum of self-positiveness, self-identification, physical concept, and personality-concept, while total variability scores are 4 points lower in the above sections. This results reveal that the freshman in the University perceive themselves positive in physical concept and personality concept with high self-esteem whereas students in the 2nd, 3rd, and 3th year in school show self-defense and low consistency. 2. In the average scores of 14 factors, students in the school of physical education get higher scores in most of factors whereas those in the school of art and the school of natural science get lower scores. Getting high scores in self-behavior and physical self-seems to have close relations to the characteristics of the University which has developed with strong emphasis on sports science and martial arts. 3. Differences in 5 of 14 factors are revealed among 3 departments in the school of physical education, while few differences are revealed in the rest of schools. Results in detail were discussed in the study. And, finallly, implications and suggestions for further study are discussed.

본교 대학원 발전방안에 관한 연구

The purpose of this study was to suggest the developmental ideas for graduate school in Yougin University. For the methods of this study, the researches in administration of graduate students, personal researches in socialization of graduate school, and evaluation materials for graduate school were utilized. Additionally, the questionnaire survey about graduate students leas administered and analyzed and the ideas constructed from staff meeting for the development of graduate school were applied in preparing developmental plan. The results of this study are summarized as follow: 1. 1-2 years preparation - offers annual credits upto 30 - jop marketing upto 70% - advisor and student ratio 1 : 7 - professors' doctoral degree possession upto 90% - graduate school professors' research achievement upto 2 articles annually - research space per student upto 10m/2 3-4 years preparation - offers annual credits unto 33 - advisor and student ratio 1:4 - professors' doctoral degree possession upto 95% - graduate school professors' research achievement upto 2.5 articles annually 2. The educational goals of graduate school should be recognized among graduate students and the professionality of faculty members should be emphasized to teach graduate students in their relative major areas. The evaluation procedures for graduate class lecture and class administration in graduate school. 3. To reach unto lecture system, field study should be expanded and inter-credit system between Yongin universities and foreign university should be contracted. 4. Expanding of graduate school facilities should be cranked in to provine the optimal environment for the student education and schoolship should be widely offered to the students. 5. To promote the administrational development, the staff system should be changed from reverse hierarchy system to hierarchy system. Therfore, the number in lower administrational staffs should be larger than upper positions. And, the classification of authorities into department could be suggested for the efficacy of administration and management of graduate shool. 6. The specialization in each major should be emphasized. In the calc of graduate stool of physical education, the administration live should be unified in one body system. In the case of graduate school of business, one department of administration could be classified into management of sightseeing and tourism, management of distribution, tax accounting, then the specialty of the department can be forced. In the case of graduate school of art, the specialty can be forced by teaching highly performed skills and needed to switch from special graduate school to professional graduate school. The graduate school of health and school of environmental science are recommended to be built after all. Therefore, the connection between undergraduate and graduate curiculum can be established and open 2-3 more majors in the graduate school.
