The purpose of this paper is to describe experimental results about the butt welding and bead on plate welding of the high power Continuous Wave (CW) Fiber laser for Ultra-low carbon Interstitial Free(IF) steel plate for gear part of car. After being welded of the gear parts by the fiber laser and electron beam Microstructures of melting zone had been mixed acicular, granular bainitic, quasi-polygonal and widmanstatten ferrite because of a radical thermal diffusion after welding, difference of critical volume and grain size. As a result of experiment, when gear parts were welded by the fiber laser and electron beam, the fiber laser welding has been stable properties without internal defects more than the electron beam welding. Therefore it has the very advantages of welding high quality and productivity more than conventional melting method. The optimal welding processing parameters for gear parts were as follows : the laser power and welding speed were 3㎾att, 30㎜/sec respectively. At this time heat input was 21.2×10³J/㎠.

Welding characteristics of austienite 304 stainless steel and SM45C using a continuous wave Nd: YAG laser are experimentally investigated. Laser beam welding is increasingly being used in welding of structural steels. The laser welding process is one of the most advanced manufacturing technologies owing to its high speed and deep penetration. This paper describes the weld ability of SM45C carbon steel and austienite 304 stainless steel for machine structural use by Nd: YAG laser.

This paper show the 2kW fiber laser cutting properties of SS400. The study was comparison of traditional 4kW CO₂ Laser cutting and 2kW Fiber laser cutting characteristics for the application of Industrial 2D Laser Cutting Machine. The laser used in this investigation was an IPG YLU-2000 multi-mode Ytterbium Fiber machine with a maximum power of 2000W and a wave length of 1070 nm. The laser was used in its Continuous Wave (CW) mode with an approximately top hat beam intensity distribution. Fiber laser high quality cuts at a large range of speeds (ranging from 2000 to 3800 mm/min) which has been obtained for the 2.3mm Sheet of SS400. 2kW power Fiber laser cut was able to max. 20mm sheets of SS400 (speed range from 650 to 850 mm/min). Fiber laser cutting used in conventional hole nozzle could cut 12mm SS400 but used in special dual cutting nozzle could cut 20mm SS400.

연속파형 Nd:YAG 레이저를 이용한 Hastelloy C-276의 용접특성에 관한 연구

Hastelloy C-276, corrosion resistant alloy at high temperature, is used in chemical plant and power generation industry. In this study, process parameter of laser welding for welding property in Hastelloy C-276 using a continuous wave Nd:YAG laser was studied. As the result of experiment, laser welding did not show segregation or crack at heat affected zone compared to conventional GTWA welding. The melting zone showed cell dendritic structure along with welding line. In addition, planer front solidification is occurred from welding structure, and it was progressed to cellular solidification. Optimal process parameter for butt welding was 1.2kW and 2.0 m/min for laser power and welding speed, respectively. While heat input, output density, tensile stress, and longitudinal strain was $441.98{\times}103$ J/cm2, $29.553{\times}103$ W/cm2, 768 MPa, and 0.689, respectively. Lap welding of the same material showed greater discrepancy in tensile property during 1 line and 2 line welding. For 1 line welding, tensile stress was about 320 MPa, and 2 line showed slightly larger tensile stress. However, strain was decreased by 20%. From this result, lap welding of the same material, Hastelloy C-276, with 2 line welding is considered to be more effective process than 1 line welding with consideration of mechanical property.

Il Woong Cleft lip and palate foundation was founded in 1968 by Professor emeritus Byoung-Il Min. Since then the foundation has operated numerous cleft lip and palate patients not only in Korea but also in under-developed countries such as Vietnam, China, and Cambodia. In December 2005, the foundation was allowed as an incorporated association by Ministry of Foreign affairs and Trade, so that it could have official status. From March 6th 2009 to March 14th 2009, we conductp,d charity cleft lip and palate operations of 23 patients in areas of Deozhou, China. Hereby we present the results of operations.
