In the context of steel composite wall (SC wall) standards, this study explores the relaxed provisions outlined in AISC N690 (2018), particularly concerning commonly used materials in general building construction, such as faceplate thickness, concrete strength, shear connector spacing, and steel tie spacing. These provisions were then applied to assess the viability of a “relaxed steel composite wall” as a seismic force-resisting system suitable for mid- and low-rise structures. Experimental investigations were conducted to achieve these objectives. A dedicated SC wall specimen was constructed, and various variables were examined, including the presence or absence of shear connectors, shear connector spacing, steel tie spacing, and faceplate types. The results were analyzed to assess fracture behavior, the relationship between shear force (V) and transverse displacement (Δ), shear stiff ness variations, maximum in-plane shear strength, displacement ductility ratio (μ), and energy dissipation characteristics. Moreover, their displacement ductility ratios remained below 10, and they exhibited substantial energy dissipation capabilities. These fi ndings suggest that the application of “relaxed SC walls” as seismic force-resisting systems is feasible for mid-, low-, and high-rise structures.

Primary myxoid liposarcoma of the heart is very rare. Following is a report on a 35 year old male presented with a huge, 8×8 cm sized mass along the inferior wall of right ventricle. The histologic diagnosis of the mass was primary myxoid liposarcoma of the pericardium. The patient died 5 months after diagnosis due to progressive dyspnea.

The paper considers a cell allocation problem in the Mobile Wireless Communication Network with limited capacity of Base Switching Center(BSC) and Mobile Switching Center(MSC), and the aim is assigning cells to BSC and MSC for supporting an efficient handoff and reducing the cabling cost. The cell assignment problem is formulated as a mixed integer programming, and a genetic algorithm is developed to derive the optimal solution. A verity of numerical problems are presented and then some interesting properties are exploited that are useful for charactering the problem.

Bypass surgery, as therapy for morbid obesity, was introduced in 1952. Multiple complications such as arthritis and dermatitis as well as liver dysfunction, renal injury, diarrhea, malnutrition and electrolyte imbalance were reported after bypass surgery. Recently, we have experienced a case of bypass arthritis-dermatitis syndrome in a patient after pyloric exclusion and bypass gastrojejunostomy due to traumatic duodenal perforation. He complained arthralgia of left knee, both wrist and both ankle and developed erythematous maculopapular rash over lower extremities. He was successfully treated with NSAIDs and clindamycin.(Korean J Med 59:583-586, 2000)

This paper considers a scheduling problem concerned with an assembly system where two components are first treated in their own parallel machines and then pulled to be assembled into a final product at a single assembly machine. The objective measure is the mean completion time of jobs(a finite number of products). Through characterizing solution properties, we obtain the worst case error bounds of an arbitrary permutation and a SPT based heuristic.

Recently, as the number of earthquakes has increased, the building structure standard has been revised in 2016. In order to minimize earthquake damage, steel frame is used as the most economical and efficient lateral resistance system. Also, when the steel braces are subject to Compressive load, which causes unstable behavior of the structure. In order to verify the compressive behavior of the reinforced Braces, structural performance tests were conducted with variables of slenderness ratio and the amount of reinforcement. This study investigates the structural performance of existing double - angle steel braces by reinforcing them with non- welded/assembled light-weight steel frames and proposes a suitable reinforced section.
