We introduce marginal states of light which are barely classical and hence lie on the boundary between classical and nonclassical states. A marginal state may be obtained as an output of a beam splitter with vanishingly small transmission coefficient and a very intense nonclassical light as an input. We also point out that any marginal state can be made to be maximally nonclassical by adding a single photon. The close relation between nonclassicality and the particle nature of light is addressed.

두부외상으로 인한 두개저 골절이 뇌척수액 비루 및 이루의 가장 흔한 원인이다. 사고로 인한 외상성 뇌척수액 비루는 대부분 보존적 치료만으로 치유되나 지속되는 경우에는 뇌막염 등의 치명적인 합병증의 위험이 높아 수술적 치료가 필요하다. 그러므로 두개저 골절이 의심되는 환자에서 뇌척수액 유출의 증상 및 소견을 주의 깊게 관찰하여야 한다. 저자들은 본원에서 경험한 보존적 치료 후에도 지속된 두부외상 후 접형동을 통한 뇌척수액 비루 1예를 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. Posttraumatic cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage frequently complicates skull base fractures. While most CSF leaks will cease with conservative management, patients with persistent CSF leaks may be at increased risk for meningitis, and many will require surgical intervention. The early recognition and localization of the CSF leakage is one of the most important part in managing patients with skull base fracture. We report on our experience of successfully treating a patient with persistent CSF leakage despite of long term conservative management.
Variation of Nonclassical States of Light

We consider a beam splitter as an optical device to generate a class of nonclassical states out of a nonclassical input state. On sending a nonclassical light toward one input port and the vacuum to the other, one can generally obtain the two output lights which are less nonclassical than the input state. We also consider the limit, in which the input intensity grows indefinitely and the trasmission coefficient vanishes such that their product becomes finite, to find various states of light lying between nonclassical and classical states.
