With the development of industry and standard of living, the quantity of groundwater consumption has been increasing. In exploiting the groundwater, the quantity of groundwater should be estimated exactly, The hydraulic parameters to be estimated are transmissivity coefficient and storage coefficient. They were determined by the slope matching(SM) method which the physical quality of aquifer was reflected. However, SM method has some technical problems that error can occur in the process of graphical solution between the Theis type curve and the field curve. This paper suggested the improved SM method which can supplement the technical problem of SM method. In case of estimating the hydraulic parameters by other method using the Todd's pumping test data, it takes much time and it can be subjective. However, the improved SM method eliminated these problems by automating perfectly.

In this study, the variation of water quality in Osan stream was investigated through continuous monitoring, and mass balance and metabolism occurred into water body were estimated to set up effective management plan for water quality of small urban stream. From the results of continuos investigation of water quality in Osan stream, the things written as follows must be previously done to improve water quality of main stream. Firstly, it need that effective management plan for tributaries must be set up to improve the water quality in main stream. Secondly, the counter plan for re-eruption of pollutants from sediment in main-stream is required to prevent inner pollution. In this study, we showed that small urban stream can be managed effectively by simple investigation to prevent deterioration of water quality. Therefore continuous monitoring for water quality in stream is important to improve water quality, furthermore matter cycle and mass balance happening in the stream environment must be correctly estimated to make up healthy stream environment.
Behavioral characteristics of phosphorus in sediments according to the forms of phosphorus

This study investigates the behavioral characteristics and forms of phosphorus in the sediment according to the oxygen condition (aerobic/anaerobic). In the behavioral characteristics analysis, Al-P and Fe-P concentrations were the highest among the forms of inorganic phosphorus, and therefore had the strongest impact on sorption and release correspond¬ing to environmental condition changes. In the experimental investigation of the inorganic forms of phosphorus in the sediment according to the oxygen condition, we determined that the forms of inorganic phosphorus did not greatly affect the sorption or release reaction because the distribution ratios of the inorganic forms remained constant corresponding to changes of dissolved oxygen (DO) conditions. In contrast, the forms of organic phosphorus in the sediments affected both sorption and release. Furthermore, labile-P and moderately labile-P forms were the major mechanisms of sorption in sediment. Moderately labile-P was the greatest contributor to phosphorus release action in sediment. As environmen¬tal changes are important for the behavioral characteristics of phosphorus in sediment, the forms of phosphorus should be considered to have a greater effect, especially in the organic phosphorus case. Therefore, based on the present study results, sediment evaluation aimed at controlling internal pollutants in reservoirs should include an examination of the forms of phosphorus present, as well as the release characteristics of environmental changes, which are influential factors of phosphorus control. Further research in this field is required.
