        Tower architectures affect their city-scape by their size, shape and height among other buildings and natural elements. Therefore the tower become the landmark of the town and symbolic and cognition element of the city scape. In this thesis we suggest a way to analyze the influence of tower construction to the city scape and we explain the concept and processes of visibility analysis, the analysis of view point and analysis of aerial view as the way of study of the city scape. Finally we propose the evaluation methods for the city tower to establish evaluation indices and elements following characteristics of the tower.

      • 천안시 도로변의 NO₂및 SO₂오염도 측정에 관한 연구

        This study's goale to find out the degree of the air pollution caused by vehicle emissions and to collect basic data for alternative plan in the improvement of the quality of the air by searching for the quality of the air around the road(in front of Chunan station, Terminal intersection, at Bangiugan five forked road, Chunanro intersection) in Chunan. NO2 and SO2 were measured as a object for this study in winter time and in summer time respectively. There has been an rapid increase in population and industrial complex has been built up in Chunan area. Therefore an increase in the number of vehicles and the use of domestic fuel has followed by that. So more studies of that and the effort for the improvement in the quality of the air will have to be made.

      • 난소의 성숙 낭성 기형종에서 발생한 원발성 유암종 : 1예 보고 A case Report

        저자들은 우측 난소의 성숙 낭성 기형종에서 발생한 원발성 유암종 1예를 경험하였기에 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. 본 예는 수술 후 상부 소화기 내시경검사, 대장 내시경 검사 및 복부와 골반에 대한 전산단층촬영을 시행하였으나 특이 소견은 없었고 현재 6개월정도 추적 관찰중이다. The most common malignant change in cystic teratoma is squamous cell carcinoma, followed by carcinoid tumor and adenocarcinoma. Ovarian carcinoid tumor can be seen in the ovary as a metastasis of a tumor located in the gastrointestinal tract or elsewhere, as a component of adult cystic teratoma, or as a primary pure neoplasm of the ovary. The prognosis in primary carcinoid tumors (whether pure or as a component of cystic teratoma) is very good, whereas metastatic carcinoids have a poor outcome. We report a case of a primary carcinoid tumor arising in a mature cystic teratoma of the ovary that developed in a 38-year-old woman with a brief review of literature.

      • 하천수중 화학적산소요구량 및 유기성탄소의 경시적 변화에 관한 연구

        In order to provide the basic information for the water quality of urban streams and the quality variation of these streams, the water pollution indicators of Sin stream and Keumho river flowing through Taegu city were measured, and the variations of COD and OC of stream waters and artifical samples were studied under the condition of stagnation. For this experiment, two sampling sites(Sungpook bridge, Mutae bridge) were selected. Sungpook bridge is located most down the Sin stream, Mutae bridge is located on the lower keumho river. Artificial samples were prepared with mixing starch and CaCl?, and the pHs of these samples were adjusted by adding NaOH and HCl. The results were as follows. 1. The DO values of stream waters sampled in June and July were much lower than those of stream waters sampled in March and April. 2. The COD values of all the samples highly exceeded the fifth grade of environmental criterion(10mg/?) 3. EC highly correlated with ALK and Cl anion. 4. The COD values of stream waters sampled in June and July and stagnated under the laboratory temperature distinctly decreased in process of stagnation, and those of stream waters sampled in April and stagnated in the incubator(20℃) also distinctly decreased. But, the COD variations of stream waters sampled in March and April and stgnated under the laboratory temperature didn't show a distinct tendency. 5. The contents of OC in stream waters sampled in March and April and stagnated under the laboratory temperature distinctly decreased in process of stagnation, and those of stream waters sampled in April and stagnated in the incubator(20℃) also distinctly decreased. But, the contents of OC in stream waters stagnated under the incubator temperature, which was higher than the laboratory temperature, more rapidly decreased in process of stagnation.

        Conditioned Medium from Dying Smooth Muscle Cell Induced Apoptotic Death

        In this study, the authors investigated whether death of vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) had a pathological pertinence. Conditioned media obtained from rat aorta smooth muscle cell (SMC) that were induced death by expressing FADD in the absence of tetracycline (FADD-SMC) triggered death of normal SMC. DNA fragmentation and caspase-3 activation were observed in dying SMC by conditioned media. FADD-SMC showed transcriptional activation of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α. Conditioned medium contained TNF-α, indicating secretion of the cytokine from dying FADD-SMC. It was investigated if secreted TNF-α was functional. Conditioned medium activated ERK and p38 MAPK pathways and induced MMP-9 expression, whereas depletion of the cytokine with its soluble receptor (sTNFR) remarkably inhibited induction of MMP-9 by conditioned medium. These findings suggest that TNF-α in conditioned medium seems to be active. Then, contribution of TNF-α on death-inducing activity of conditioned medium was examined. Depletion of TNF-α with soluble TNF-α receptor decreased the death activity of conditioned medium by 35%, suggesting that TNF-α play a partial role in the death activity. Boiling of medium almost completely abolished the death-inducing activity, suggesting that other heat labile death inducing proteins existed in conditioned medium. Taken together, these results indicate that SMC undergoing death could contribute to inflammation by expressing inflammatory cytokines and pathological complications by inducing death of neighboring cells.

      • Enhancde Start-up Operation of Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket Reactors

        UASB reactors treating complex soluble wastewaters with high concentration of proteins and lipids could maintain concentrated sludge through the intermittent withdrawals of effluent during the start-up period. Increased superficial flow rate promoted releasing biogas entrapped in the sludge at high organic loading rate and increased the amount of methane content in the biogas. The upflow liquid velocity was found to affect the growth rate of the granular sludge and the particle size distribution of sludge. Inoculation of powdered activated carbon(PAC) to the seed sludge enhancde the granulation process, but not the COD removal efficiency and the methanogenic activity of sludge.

        물시료 대용량 현장추출을 위한 PUF-ACF-PUF 방식의 소형 포집장치 개발과 적용: I. 다이옥신류

        Compact type large volume filtration system using polyurethane foam (PUF) and active carbon felt (ACF) was developed for the field sampling of persistent organic pollutants (POPs). To overcome clogging by particles in compact sampler, exception of GFF in front of PUF plug was unavoidable. Active carbon felt (ACF) layers were added between PUF slices to make up trap efficiency. Recovery tests in the lab using tap and surface water resulted in corresponding ranges of QA/QC of the accredited method for PCDD/Fs. Next, field applications for 100L volume were carried out using compact large volume sampler (LVS) with triplicates and TEQs were compared with the concentrations by conventional LVS (FS-142K model). Similar concentrations for real samples were observed between newly developed compact LVS and commercial LVS. The compact sampler would be useful as a complementary options in field water sampling.
