        A change in economic and social environment has brought lots of changes in lifestyles and values of onsumers. This paper presents fashion conformity, innovativeness and clothing values of college students according to their academic majors. Respondents were 181 undergraduate students with diverse majors. The survey was conducted using a questionnaire designed to measure fashion conformity, innvativeness and utilitarian/hedonic clothing values. Seventeen items measuring fashion conformity and innovativeness and thirty six items measuring clothing values were adopted from existing studies. Chi-square, ANOVA, and multiple comparisons of means were conducted. Students were clustered into three groups of majors: Engineering/NaturalScience/Information majors (ENI), Business/Social/Humanity (BSH) majors and HumanEcology/Art/PhysicalEducation (HAP) majors. HAP majors were more innovative than ENI majors. Significant differences were found in hedonic and utilitarian aspects of clothing values. HAP majors had higher level of novelty/fun/attraction, fashion consciousness and social appraisal sensitivity dimensions. ENI majors showed higher level of comfort seeking among clothing values. No significance was found in clothing confidence, mix and match, economy, utility and handling dimensions of clothing values across different groups of majors. Results of this study imply that the consumer group according to a major has relation to fashion conformity, innovativeness and clothing values.

        학교보건교육에서의 매체활용실태 및 영향요인 분석

        The objectives of this study are to explain the use of media materials in school health education with other related factors in elementary, middle, and high schools in Korea. The data were collected by questionnaires from June to September in 1988. The number of subjects were 294 school nurses. The PC-SAS program was used for statistical analysis such as percent distribution, chi-squared test, spearman correlation test, and logistic regression. The use of media materials in health education has become extremely common. Unfortunately, much of the early materials were of poor production quality, reflected low levels of interest, and generally did little to enhance health education programming. A recent trend in media materials is a move away from the fact filled production to a more affective, process-oriented approach. There is an obvious need for health educators to use high-quality, polished productions in order to counteract the same levels of quality used by commercial agencies that often promote "unhealthy" lifestyles. Health educators need to be aware of the advantages and disadvantages of the various forms of media. Selecting media materials should be based on more than cost, availability, and personal preference. Selection should be based on the goal of achieving behavioral objectives formulated before the review process begins. The decision to use no media materials rather than something of dubious quality will usually be the right decision. Poor-quality, outdated, or boring materials will usually have a detrimental effect on the presentation. Media materials should be viewed as vehicles to enhance learning, not products that will stand in isolation. Process of materials is an essential part of the educational process. The major results were as follows:1. The elementary schools used the materials more frequently. But the production rate of media materials was not enough. The budget was too small for a wide use of media materials in school health education. These findings suggest that all schools have to increase the budget of health education programs. 2. Computers offer an incredibly diverse set of possibilities for use in health education, ranging from complicated statistical analysis to elementary-school-level health education games. But the use rate of this material was not high. The development of related software is essential. 3. In this study, the most effective materials were films in elementary school and videotapes in middle and high school. Film tends to be a more emotive medium than videotape. The difficulties of media selection involved the small amount of extant educational materials. Media selection is a multifaceted process and should be based on a combination of sound principles. 4. The review of material use following student levels showed that the more the contents were various, the more the use rate was high. 5. Health education videotapes and overhead projectors proved the most plentiful and widest media tools. The information depicted was more likely to be current. As a means to display both text and graphic information, this instructional medium has proven to be both effective and enduring. 6. An analysis of how effective the quality of school nurse and school use of media materials shows a result that is not complete)p=0.1113). But, the budget of health education is a significant variable. The increase of the budget therefore is essential to effective use of media materials. From these results it is recommended that various media materials be developed and be wide used.

      • 전형적인 DISIDA scan 소견의 Rotor 증후군 1예

        만성의 비용혈성 직접형 고빌리루빈혈증은 Rotor 증후군과 Dubin-Johnson 증후군의 특징적인 소견으로, Rotor 증후군은 드문 양성 유전성 질환이며, Dubin-Johnson 증후군과 감별을 필요로 한다. 본 저자들은 황달을 주소로 내원한 26세 남자 환자에서 고빌리루빈혈증에 대한 검사를 시행하여 담도폐쇄 소견없이 간담도 스캔상 전형적인 Rotor 증후군의 소견 즉, 강한 심장 배후방사능이 지속되면서, 간담도계의 조영은 지연 촬영에서도 관찰되지 않으며 신장으로의 배설이 계속 관찰되는 특징적인 소견과 정상 간조직 검사 결과로 Rotor 증후군으로 진단한 1예를 경험하였기에 문헌 고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. Chronic nonhemolytic conjugated hyperbilirubinemia characterizes both Rotor and Dubin-Johnson syndromes. Rotor syndrome is a rare, benign familial disorder and needs to be differentiated from Dubin-Johnson syndrome. Cholescintigraphy is a simple and informative procedure for the diagnosis, which can differentiate Rotor syndrome from Dubin-Johnson syndrome. A 26-year-old man was admitted due to asymptomatic persistent jaundice. Physical examination revealed icteric sclera without hepatosplenomegaly. Laboratory findings showed increased serum bilirubin with direct bilirubinemia. Markedly decreased hepatic uptake and poor visualization of the gallbladder and biliary tract were shown in ^(99m)Tc-DISIDA scan. Histology of the liver showed no diagnostic abnormality without pigmentation. But, we report a case of Rotor syndrome that showed characteristic cholescintigraphic findings with normal urinary total coproporphyrin excretion.

        Elemental partitioning and site-occupancy in γ/γ′ forming Co-Ti-Mo and Co-Ti-Cr alloys

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We report on the sub-nanometer scale characterization of Co-12Ti-4Mo and Co-12Ti-4Cr (at.%) model alloys. Atom probe tomography reveals that Co and Cr partition to γ, whereas Ti and Mo to γ′. Additions of Mo and Cr to the reference Co-12Ti system lead to strong increases in γ′ volume fraction by about 25% and 12%, respectively. Element-specific spatial distribution maps along the [001] direction of the L1<SUB>2</SUB>-ordered γ′ phase reveal that both Mo and Cr preferentially replace Ti on its sublattice. The remaining excess Ti is available for formation of additional γ′, resulting in enhanced γ′ volume fractions.</P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

        A Controlled, Randomized, Double-blind Trial to Evaluate the Effect of Vegetables and Whole Grain Powder That Is Rich in Dietary Fibers on Bowel Functions and Defecation in Constipated Young Adults

        Background:This study evaluated the effect of vege-powder (VP), mainly consisted of chicory, broccoli, and whole grains, on bowel habit improvement and constipation alleviation. Methods:Using the Roman standard II, 96 male and female subjects in their twenties with constipation symptoms were divided into a control group or VP group. Subjects in a control group were supplied with rice flakes-powder (RFP) and subjects in the VP groupwere provided with 30 g of VP twice daily for 4 weeks. Constipation relief effectiveness was surveyed on 5-point Likert scales depending on stool hardness, amount of stool, sensation of incomplete evacuation, and straining to defecate at day 0, 14, and 28 of RFP or VP intake. Results:Repeated measures analysis of variance analysis revealed that VP intake caused significant temporal changes in stool hardness, amount, sensation of incomplete evacuation, and straining to defecate. In addition, significant differences between control andVP groups were found in stool hardness, amount, sensation of incomplete evacuation, and straining to defecate at day 14 and 28 of experimental diet consumption. VP supplement for 2 weeks significantly increased the evacuation frequency (1.04 ± 0.71), compared to controlgroup (0.41 ± 0.64) and this increase was maintained at 4 week of diet supplements. Conclusions:This result showed that constipated subjects who consumed VP, mainly consisting of chicory, broccoli, and whole grains, improved constipation symptoms at 2 and 4 weeks of consumption compared to those of control group who were provided with RFP.

        농촌 소규모 중학교 학생의 영어 학습 동기, 태도, 동기 상실 요인 분석과 개선방안

        This study is to identify the motivation, attitude, demotivating factors for small-sized middle school students’ learning English in the rural community, and to suggest ways of increasing their positive attitude and motivation, while decreasing demotivating factors. A questionnaire based on previous studies for pre-surveys was developed in order to examine the students’ motivation, interest, anxiety, attitude and demotivating factors in learning English. Unlike the other studies which put the teacher-related factors as most demotivating, students charged off it to themselves. Based on the result of the study, some suggestions are made to motivate students and to reduce the demotivating factors in learning English. First, students’ intrinsic motivation should be increased by some teaching instructions such as writing a self-evaluation journal, using learning strategies. Second, teachers can manage the class to decrease anxiety for studying English and to increase good learning attitude.
