Biobutanol has been emerging as a renewable replacement to overcome fossil fuel limit due to its attractive qualities. The waste resources utilization is an economically feasible and eco-friendly way to produce biobutanol. In this work, the potential of butanol fermentation with sweet potato residue (SPR) obtained from ethanol fermentation was evaluated. To assist sugar release for butanol production by Clostridia acetobutylicum, a pretreatment approach with dilute sulfuric acid was established via response surface methodology. The maximum butanol concentration of 3.77 g/L was obtained at the optimal conditions of pretreatment at 1% (v/v) dilute sulfuric acid, and 115℃ for 30 min. Detoxifying the hydrolysate with XAD-4 resin significantly enhanced butanol fermentation performance, while adding nutritional supplements had no significant influence. The stability of the fermentation process was verified by the 2 L-scale of fermentation, resulting in 7.96 g/L of butanol, 13.42 g/L h of Acetone-Butanol-Ethanol (ABE), and 0.34 g/g of ABE yield, respectively. This study demonstrates a bio-refinery strategy of conversion from waste biomass to energy, confirms the feasibility of utilizing the cost saving SPR as feedstock to produce butanol through fermentation, and provides a novel approach for minimization of environmental pollution.
Solvent extraction of Fe3+ from the hydrochloric acid route phosphoric acid by D2EHPA in kerosene

It is necessary to remove Fe3+ from the hydrochloric acid route phosphoric acid before it is purified by trin-butyl phosphate (TBP), otherwise the final product will fail because of the excessive iron content. Di-(2-ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid (D2EHPA, HA) is effective for Fe3+ extraction. Therefore, the solvent extraction of Fe3+ from the HCl-route phosphoric acid by D2EHPA in kerosene is investigated. The effects of the extraction time, temperature and concentrations of phosphoric acid, D2EHPA, calcium chloride and Fe3+ on the extraction process are studied. The mechanism of the extraction is explained and the extracted species is demonstrated to be FeClA2 4HA. D2EHPA has a high efficiency for Fe3+ extraction from the synthesis and actual HCl-route phosphoric acid with extraction percent of 98.61% and 96.50%, respectively via a cross-current 3-stage extraction. The loaded organic phase is effectively stripped (99.9%) using 6 mol/L hydrochloric acid. The extractant also has a high stability under a closed operation condition. D2EHPA can serve as an adequate extractant for the extraction of Fe3+ from the HCl-route phosphoric acid.

Trust is risky. If the two sides is not enough high trust, or is asymmetirc in trust each other, it is easy totrigger a trust crisis, and which bring risks to the supply chain and its members. The guarantee mechanism of trust can manage and control trust risk. The paper firstly introduces the risk under the supply chain environment, analyses the risk of trust. Then, it analyzes the trust insurance mechanism based on the system constraints by using the game theory, as well as the insufficiency of system restraints.

On the basis of an overview of the global responses of a nonlinear Jeffcott rotor/stator contact model, the system reliability was evaluated subject to mixed aleatory-epistemic uncertainty. We used a likelihood-based approach for reliability modeling and analysis. In the context of uncertainty quantification, some advanced Bayesian techniques were adopted to reduce the computation cost in traditional Monte Carlo method. The parameters’ effects on reliability were studied, incorporating both rotor physical background and inherent uncertain factors. This framework could be applied in the field of industrial manufacturing & mounting, risk assessment, product maintaining and benefit rotary machines from design phase to operation stage.
Nanotherapeutics with immunoregulatory functions for the treatment of bacterial infection

The advent of drug-resistant pathogens results in the occurrence of stubborn bacterial infections that cannot betreated with traditional antibiotics. Antibacterial immunotherapy by reviving or activating the body’s immune systemto eliminate pathogenic bacteria has confrmed promising therapeutic strategies in controlling bacterial infections. Subsequent studies found that antimicrobial immunotherapy has its own benefts and limitations, such as avoidingrecurrence of infection and autoimmunity-induced side efects. Current studies indicate that the various antibacterialtherapeutic strategies inducing immune regulation can achieve superior therapeutic efcacy compared with mono therapy alone. Therefore, summarizing the recent advances in nanomedicine with immunomodulatory functionsfor combating bacterial infections is necessary. Herein, we briefy introduce the crisis caused by drug-resistantbacteria and the opportunity for antibacterial immunotherapy. Then, immune-involved multimodal antibacterialtherapy for the treatment of infectious diseases was systematically summarized. Finally, the prospects and challengesof immune-involved combinational therapy are discussed.

The torsional properties of single-walled boron nitride (BN) nanocones at different cone heights, disclination angles and simulation temperatures have been investigated using molecular dynamics (MD) simulation. The simulation results indicate that the torque and average potential energy decrease with the increasing cone height and disclination angle, and the failure torsion angle increases with the increasing cone height and disclination angle. For different simulation temperatures, the torsional behavior of BN nanocones at higher simulation temperature is more serious and earlier to reach a failure point, the maximum torque and average potential energy of the system decrease with the increasing simulation temperature. For different loading rates, the failure torsion angle decreases with the increasing loading rate, so the fracture of BN nanocone occurred earlier with higher loading rate. Therefore, the cone height, disclination angle, simulation temperature and loading rate are considered to be four main influencing factors for the torsional properties of the BN nanocones.
Improving the Color Gamut of a Liquid-crystal Display by Using a Bandpass Filter

To improve the color gamut of a liquid-crystal display (LCD), we propose a bandpass filter that is added to the backlight unit to optimize the backlight spectrum. The bandpass filter can only transmit red, green and blue light in the visible range, while reflecting the unwanted light. We study the optical properties of the bandpass filter using the transfer-matrix method, and the effect of the bandpass filter on the color gamuts of LCDs is also investigated. When a bandpass filter based on a 5-layer configuration comprising low and high refractive indices ((HL) 2 H) is used in phosphor-converted white-light-emitting diode (pc-WLED), K 2 SiF 6 :Mn 4+ (KSF-LED), and quantum-dot (QD) backlights, the color gamuts of the LCDs improve from 72% to 95.3% of NTSC, from 92% to 106.7% of NTSC, and from 104.3% to 112.2% of NTSC respectively. When the incident angle of light increases to 30°, the color gamuts of LCDs with pc-WLED and KSF-LED backlights decrease by 2.9% and 1% respectively. For the QD backlight, the color gamut almost does not change. When the (HL) 2 H structure is coated on the diffusion film, the color gamut can be improved to 92.6% of NTSC (pc-WLED), 105.6% of NTSC (KSF-LED), and 111.9% of NTSC (QD). The diffusion film has no obvious effect on the color gamut. The results have an important potential application in wide-color-gamut LCDs.
