        In recent years, gonorrhea has been pandemic and remains one of the most common STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of Penicillinase Producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae(PPNG), we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by menas of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. In 1998, 93 strians of N. genorrhoeae were isolated, among which 60(64.5%) were PPNG. The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 64.5% in 1998.

        Waste activated carbon containing phenol discharged from industrial field used the samples of this study. We investigated with the physical and chemical characteristics of activated carbon regenerated by Pseudomonas putida (KCCM 11762). The results obtained from investigated the physical and chemical characteristics of regenerated activated carbon in case of pH 7. regeneration time 20 hrs and regeneration temperature 26℃, the removal efficiency of phenol was 93%, average iodine adsorbability was l082mg/g and methyleneblue decolorization power(MBDP) was 138㎖/g.

      • 자동차 주행용 광섬유 자이로스코프 개발

        적당한 성능의 광섬유 자이로스코프는 자동차 주행용의 회전율 측정 센서로 사용할 수 있다. 본 논문에서 구성한 광섬유 자이로스코프 시스템은 개회로 방식의 신호 처리를 하며, 단일 모드 광섬유와 방향성 결합기를 이용하여 시스템을 광섬유 일체식으로 구성하였다. 광원으로는 비편광 광원인 He-Ne 레이저를 사용하였다. 자동차 주행용으로 사용할 수 있도록 간단한 구성과 저가격이 되도록 하였다. 본 논문에서는 modified J₁…J₄ 방법을 응용한 신호 처리 방식을 사용하였다. 간섭계 출력을 고속 푸리에 변환(fast Fourier transform : FFT)하여 4 개의 연속 고조파를 구한 다음, modified J₁…J₄를 적용하여 변조도(modulation index)를 구한다. 이 방법은 광원의 파장변동이나 편광 상태의 변화 등에 상관없이 계측할 수 있다. 여기서 구한 변조도를 이용하여 Bessel 함수 ??를 계산한 결과와, 두 고조파의 비로 간단하게 회전율을 구할 수 있었다. Fiber-optic gyroscope of modest performance can be used as angular rate sensor for vechile navigation on land. A practical design is used an open-loop configuration with an all-fiber optical system together with single-mode fiber and directional coupler. We use the unpolarized light source, He-Ne laser as light source, and design simple construction for low cost. In this paper, we used the modified J₁…J₄ method which apply the signal processing technique. Measurements were made of the amplitudes of four harmonics in the electrical spectrum of the output of an interferometer using fast Fourier transform(FFT), and modified J₁…J₄ was used to determine the amplitude of the modulation index. This method allowed us independents of the wavelength fluctuation of the wavelength fluctuation of source and state of polarization changes in measurement. We can simply get the rotation rate with two harmonics ratio, Bessel function, ?? and the modulation depth.

        유화조건이 홍화적색소의 물성에 미치는 영향

        상기 실험으로부터 얻어진 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. Hunter-value를 측정한 결과 hunter L-value 즉, 백색도에 있어서는 glycerin+carthamin+locithin의 경우가 실온저장 및, 열악조건 그리고 광조사시에 있어서 모두 8 시간이 경과하면서부터는 급격하게 상승하는 모습을 보였다. 2. 실온하에서 hunter a-value 즉, 적색도에 있어서는 carthamin 첨가구가, b-value 즉, 황색도에 있어서는 paprika 첨가구가 더 강하게 나타났다. 열악조건에서는 실온저장의 경우와 다소 다른 양상을 보여주었는데. D.W+carthamin+lecithin의 경우에 있어서도 hunter L-value가 낮은 값을 나타냈으며, hunter a-value의 경우 soybean oil+paprika에서도 높은값을 보여주었다. 3. 유변학적 특성에 대한 실험에서 비교적 고점도를 가지고 있는 glycerin을 base material로하였을 때는 이에 비해 저점도라고 할 수 있는 soybean oil이나 증류수가 쓰여졌을 때보다 spindle의 rpm에 따른 viscosity나 shear rate 및 shear stress등의 같이 월등히 높은 값을 나타냈다. 그리고, 일반적으로 spindle의 rpm에 대한 shear rate 및 shear stress의 값은 비례적으로 증가하는 경향을 나타냈다. 유화제의 사용여부에 있어서는 lecithin을 사용했을 경우. 사용하지 않았을 때보다 높은 점도를 나타냈고, 동일한 조건에서 carthamin보다는 paprika가 두 배 정도 더 높은 점도를 나타냈다. 4. soybean oil을 사용한 실험구에 있어서는lecithin의 첨가유무가 점도에 아무런 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났으나, glycerin을 사용한 실험구에 있어서는 유화제인 lecithin을 병행했을 경우, 특이하게도 오히려 paprika에서보다 carthamin에서 더 높은 점도를 나타냈다. 5. Shear stress의 경우 soybean oil 첨가구와 glycerin 첨가구가 현저한 차이를 보이며 증가한 반면, shear rate에 있어서는 두 가지 경우모두 거의 같은 경향을 나타낸 점이 특이했다. This study was peformed to evaluate the food technological properties according to different emulsion state of carthamus red pigment. For making emulsion, lecithin was used as an emulsifier and polyglycerol monooleate(PGMO) and polyoxyethylene sorbitan monooleate(Tween 80) were used as an assistant, and glycerin, distilled water and soybean oil were used as base materials respectively. Paprika stock solution was used for comparing carthamin on the rheological properties. The results were described as following; 1. Hunter L-value was not drastically increased until passed by 8 hours for glycerin, carthamin, and lecithin mixed sample. 2. Hunter a-value was higher at carthamin added sample than others, and b-value was higher to paprika added sample than others. 3. The viscosity, shear rate and shear stress levels in which glycerin was used as base material were higher than soybean oil or distilled water. 4. In which soybean oil was used as base material, lecithin was not affected on the rheological properties. But, in which glycerin was used, the lecithin was higher affected on carthamin than paprika. 5. The value of shear stress was increased both carthamin and soybean oil. However, that of shear rate was shown similar trends.

      • 초고속 광대역 파장 가변 광섬유 링 레이저 구현

        In this paper, we demonstrate a tunable wavelength erbium-doped fiber ring laser. It's tuning interval can be controlled as fine as hundreds of picosecond by using a tunable filter of Fiber Reflection Mach-Zehnder Interferometer with gain-transparent SOA within one arm. And a wavelength tuning range over 17㎚ can be achieved by adjusting the power of 1310㎚ pump light into SOA. Narrow linewidth less than 0.08㎚ and SMSR of more than 30dB is obtained with single-mode operation.

        Generally, it is announced that RZ pattern gives a better transmission performance than NRZ pattern in ultra-high speed transmission above 10Gbps. A wavelength converter for RZ data which can controls XPM in SOA by using polarization controller within optical fiber loop mirror is proposed and demonstrated. The proposed structure needs only one polarization dependent SOA for implementation compared to previous XPM ones and makes the cost down. And it provides wavelength converted signals with non-inverted and inverted pattern into outputs respectively.

      • 급성기 가와사끼병 환아의 혈청 Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor 및 Endostatin에 대한 연구

        Objective : Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor(VEGF) is an angiogenic growth factor that has been implicated in both physiological and pathological angiogenesis. Endostatin(ES) is a potent inhibitor of angiogenesis and exhibits antiangiogenic activity by inhibiting the proliferation and migration of endothelial cells(ECs) in addition to inducing endothelial cell apoptosis. Imbalance between angiogenic and antiangiogenic factor exists in subacute phase of KD, as pathologic angiogenesis occurs in subacute phase of Kawasaki disease(KD). The purpose of this study is to investigate whether an imbalance exists in the production between angiogenic and antiangiogenic growth factors in patients with acute phase of Kawasaki disease(KD), we measured the serum levels of VEGF and ES. Methods and Materials : Serum VEGF, ES levels and VEGF/ES ratio were measured in 30 KD patients, 10 incomplete KD patients and 12 febrile illness controls. Blood samples were drawn from each study group during acute phase before intravenous immunoglobulin(IVIG) therapy. Results : KD patients had higher VEGF levels(426.70 ± 479.63 pg/mL vs 297.71 ± 251.32 pg/mL, P=0.52) and VEGF/ES ratio(3.67 ± 5.69 vs 2.16 ±1.763, P=0.55 ) in the acute phase of KD than controls, but the difference was not significant. ES levels were within normal range and there was no difference of ES levels(132.65 ± 33.98 ng/mL vs 135.54 ± 25.95 ng/mL, P=0.97) between Kawasaki disease and controls in the acute phase. Conclusion : The findings in this present study indicate that an imbalance does not exist in the production between VEGF and ES in patients with acute phase of KD.

      • NOLM 구조를 이용한 데이터 속도 가변 펄스 발생기

        This paper describes a tunable data rate pulse generator using the NOLM structure. This can induce the change of pulse rate by the control of PC (Polarization Controller) which located in NOLM. We measured very stable NRZ pulse sequences of three rates (200Mbps, 400Mbps, 800Mbps), and also obtained 100ps pulse width under the same condition.

      • Ad-hoc 무선망에서의 TCP 프로토콜 성능 분석

        Ad-hoc networks consist of a set of mobile hosts that communicate using wireless links, without the use of other supporting communication facilities (such as base stations, etc.). Therefore, the topology of an Ad-hoc network freguently changes due to the movement of mobile host, which may lead to sudden packet loss. Recently, the large amount of research has focused on the routing protocols needed in such an environment. However, the researches of comparison analysis on TCP versions over Ad-hoc network have not fully studied. Accordingly, in this paper, TCP Reno, Sack, and Tahoe versions are analysed using DSR protocol which is the representative On-Demand routing protocol in Ad-hoc wireless network. As the result of this simulation, we know that TCP Reno has higher throughput than Sack and Tahoe, and TCP Reno has more stable performance than TCP tahoe and Sack, regardless of the speed of mobile node and the size of topology.
