      • Image-processing Based Adaptive Human-computer Interaction System

          In this paper, we have taken into account some impact factors on Infrared TVbased eye gaze input system, and proposed some solutions to these problems. In order to improve the adaptation of eye-gaze input modality to large variation of environment light and its lighteness, a set of image capturing equipment and image thresholding model has been put forward. Furthermore, some control strategies and methods have been proposed to decrease the influences on the eye gaze system caused by users head movement. At last, some experiments have been done to verify the feasibility of the strategies and methods. The results have shown that the system permits user’s head freely move in certain conditions. Moreover, higher accuracy can be gotten for eye gaze input.

        The infertile individual analysis based on whole-exome sequencing in chinese multi-ethnic groups

        Background Infertility is a common and rapidly growing health issue around the world. The genetic analysis based on the infertile population is crucial for intervention and treatment. Objective To find candidate gene locus led to azoospermia in Chinese multi-ethnic groups and provide theoretical guidance for the diagnosis of genetic diseases to progressively aggravated infertility patients and sterile offspring with ART. Methods The study based on whole-exome sequencing (WES) was presented for genetic characteristic analysis of multi-ethnics and identification of variants related to infertility in Xinjiang area of China. Results The frequency of pathogenic variants showed significant ethnic differences among four main ethnics in Xinjiang. The population structure analysis confirmed that the Hui was close to the Han population, the Kazak was close to the Uygur population, and there are three ancestry components in the four ethnics. In addition, ten candidate variants potentially regulated azoospermia were detected, and KNTC1 (rs7968222: G > T) was chosen to validate the association. Through the analysis in the valid group, the frequency of rs7968222 (G > T) has a significant difference in the azoospermia population (11.76%, 8/68) and normospermia population (4.63%, 35/756) (P < 0.001). Interestingly, the proportion of people with abnormal follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) level in the group carrying rs7968222 (G > T) was significantly higher than non-carriers (P < 0.05). Therefore, rs7968222 may regulate spermatogenesis through affecting hormone level. Conclusion Our study establishes the genetics analysis of Northwest China and finds a candidate gene locus KNTC1 (rs7968222: G > T), which is one of the genetic susceptibility factors for male azoospermia.

        Prevalence, Risk Factors, and Psychological Effects of Primary Nocturnal Enuresis in Chinese Young Adults

        Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the prevalence, risk factors, and effects of primary nocturnal enuresis (PNE) on physical and mental health in young adults in mainland China. Methods: An anonymous questionnaire was used to collect information including the sociodemographic characteristics, history of PNE, family history, daytime voiding symptoms, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) scores, Self-Esteem Scale (SES), and Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS). A total of 22,500 university students from 23 provinces and 368 cities in mainland China were included. Results: In total, 21,082 questionnaires were collected, and 20,345 of them qualified for statistical analysis. The PNE prevalence was 1.17%, and the distribution of monosymptomatic nocturnal enuresis (MNE) and nonmonosymptomatic nocturnal enuresis (NMNE) was 66.1% and 33.9%, respectively. In total, 28% of respondents with PNE reported bedwetting daily, 31.6% between 1 and 7 times weekly, and 40.4% between 1 and 4 times monthly; 80% of PNE cases had no history of treatment. The prevalence of PNE in patients with a family history, frequency, urgency, urinary incontinence, and recurrent urinary tract infections was significantly higher than in those without these conditions (P<0.001). PNE was significantly correlated with the PSQI total score (sleep quality) (P=0.011). The SES score was lower and the SDS was higher (P<0.001) in the PNE group than in those without PNE. Conclusions: In mainland China, the PNE prevalence among young adults was found to be high, and PNE had significant effects on physical and mental health. Risk factors included a family history, daytime voiding symptoms, and lack of treatment.

        中國留學生的文化適應與焦慮及抑鬱的相關硏究

        본 연구는 재한 중국 유학생의 문화적응, 불안 및 우울 등의 상관관계에 대해 분석하고자 한다. 그리고 우울의 매개 효과를 검증하기 위해 재한 중국 유학생이 359명을 대상으로 설문 조사를 진행하였다. 수집된 설문지는 SPSS 22.0 통계프로그램을 통해 분석하였다. 구체적인 연구 결과는 첫째, 재한 학생의 성별, 인터넷 이용 목적, 운동 여부에 따른 한국 문화적응은 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 그리고 유학 기간과 인터넷 이용 목적에 따른 불안은 유의미한 차이가 있다는 것을 확인하였다. 마지막으로 인터넷 이용 목적에 따른 우울은 유통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 둘째, 동화형, 통합형, 분리형, 주변화형 문화적응, 불안 및 우울 간의 높은 상관관계가 나타났다는 것을 확인하였다. 셋째, 문화적응 및 우울 간의 관계에서 불안은 매개효과가 있다는 것을 확인되었다. 이러한 연구 결과를 통해 중국 유학생의 문화적응 실태와 불안, 우울을 유발하는 요인을 확인할 수 있으며, 나아가 유학생의 심리적, 정서적 측면에서 도와주는 기초적인 자료를 제공하도록 한다. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between South Korea and China in 1992, China and South Korea have developed rapidly in economy, trade, personnel exchanges and other fields. South Korea and China are not only each other"s largest source countries of overseas students, but also the number of people who have worked, lived and studied in each other"s countries for a long time has exceeded one million. As a result, the number of Chinese students studying abroad is increasing. However, foreign students can not adapt to the life of studying abroad, it is difficult to integrate into the local culture, academic pressure is too big and other problems, eventually leading to suicide news is also more and more in the public eye. Therefore, in the form of questionnaire survey, this paper takes the students in South Korea as the research object, through the cross-cultural adaptation scale, anxiety scale, depression scale, and using spss22.0 software to explore the inducement of Chinese students" cross-cultural adaptation in South Korea and whether there is a relationship between anxiety and depression. Specific research results show that First, there were statistically significant differences in Korean cultural adaptation depending on the gender, purpose of using the Internet, and whether or not Korean students were exercising. In addition, it was confirmed that there is a significant difference between the period of study abroad and the purpose of using the Internet. Finally, depression based on the purpose of using the Internet showed significant differences in distribution. Second, it was confirmed that there was a high correlation between assimilation, integration, separation, peripheral cultural response, anxiety, and depression. Third, it has been confirmed that anxiety has a mediating effect in the relationship between cultural adaptation and depression. These findings confirm the cultural response status, anxiety, and depression of Chinese students, and further provide basic data to help them in terms of psychological and emotional aspects.

        Development of Integrated Multi-Station System to Precisely Detect and Mitigate Surface Damage on Fused Silica Optics

        In high power laser facility, irreversible damage on fused silica optics, induced by laser irradiation or processing, seriously affects the service life of optics. Therefore, the work of inhibiting damage growth has been carried out in various countries. In our work, an integrated multi-station system is designed to detect and mitigate surface damage on fused silica. The process of processing fused silica optics include UV laser conditioning, surface damage detection and surface damage mitigation with CO2 laser. UV laser conditioning pre-initiates surface damage on fused silica optics with the laser flux less than Laser-Induced Damage Threshold (LIDT). Images of surface damage acquired from camera are processed by improved global threshold segmentation algorithm to extract damage information. Finally, CO2 laser is applied to process the damage with specific morphology to enhance the laser damage resistance. This integrated multi-station system saves the repeated optics installation time between the workstations with the positioning accuracy of 20 μm. Furthermore, the damage with diameter of 10 μm is mitigated to prolong service life of processed fused silica optics. The efficient and accurate integrated multi-station system is of great significance for off -line detecting and mitigating surface damage of fused silica optics in high power laser facility.

        Natronorubrum halophilum sp. nov. isolated from two inland salt lakes

        Two halophilic archaeal strains, SHR37T and NEN6, were isolated from salt lakes located in the Tibet and Xinjiang regions of China. The two strains were found to form a single cluster (99.9% and 99.3% similarity, respectively) separating them from the six current members of Natronorubrum (94.7– 96.9% and 86.1–90.8% similarity, respectively) on the basis of the 16S rRNA and rpoB gene sequence similarities and phylogenetic analysis. Diverse phenotypic characteristics differentiate strains SHR37T and NEN6 from current Natronorubrum members. Their polar lipids are C20C20 and C20C25 glycerol diether derivatives of PG, PGP-Me, and a major glycolipid chromatographically identical to disulfated mannosyl glucosyl diether (S2-DGD). Four minor unidentified glycolipids are also present. The OrthoANI and in silico DDH values of the two strains were 97.3% and 76.1%, respectively, which were much higher than the threshold values proposed as a species boundary (ANI 95–96% and in silico DDH 70%), which revealed that the two strains represent one species; the two values (ANI 79.0–81.9% and in silico DDH 23.5– 25.7%) of the strains examined in this study and the current members of Natronorubrum are much lower than the recommended threshold values, suggesting that strains SHR37T and NEN6 represent a genomically different species of Natronorubrum. These results showed that strains SHR37T (= CGMCC 1.15233T = JCM 30845T) and NEN6 (= CGMCC 1.17161) represent a novel species of Natronorubrum, for which the name Natronorubrum halophilum sp. nov. is proposed.

        Dissecting Causal Relationships Between Gut Microbiota, Blood Metabolites, and Stroke: A Mendelian Randomization Study

        Background and Purpose We investigated the causal relationships between the gut microbiota (GM), stroke, and potential metabolite mediators using Mendelian randomization (MR). Methods We leveraged the summary statistics of GM (n=18,340 in the MiBioGen consortium), blood metabolites (n=115,078 in the UK Biobank), and stroke (cases n=60,176 and controls n=1,310,725 in the Global Biobank Meta-Analysis Initiative) from the largest genome-wide association studies to date. We performed bidirectional MR analyses to explore the causal relationships between the GM and stroke, and two mediation analyses, two-step MR and multivariable MR, to discover potential mediating metabolites. Results Ten taxa were causally associated with stroke, and stroke led to changes in 27 taxa. In the two-step MR, <i>Bifidobacteriales</i> order, <i>Bifidobacteriaceae</i> family, <i>Desulfovibrio</i> genus, apolipoprotein A1 (ApoA1), phospholipids in high-density lipoprotein (HDL_PL), and the ratio of apolipoprotein B to ApoA1 (ApoB/ApoA1) were causally associated with stroke (all <i>P</i><0.044). The causal associations between <i>Bifidobacteriales</i> order, <i>Bifidobacteriaceae</i> family and stroke were validated using the weighted median method in an independent cohort. The three GM taxa were all positively associated with ApoA1 and HDL_PL, whereas <i>Desulfovibrio</i> genus was negatively associated with ApoB/ApoA1 (all <i>P</i><0.010). Additionally, the causal associations between the three GM taxa and ApoA1 remained significant after correcting for the false discovery rate (all q-values <0.027). Multivariable MR showed that the associations between <i>Bifidobacteriales</i> order, <i>Bifidobacteriaceae</i> family and stroke were mediated by ApoA1 and HDL_PL, each accounting for 6.5% (<i>P</i>=0.028) and 4.6% (<i>P</i>=0.033); the association between <i>Desulfovibrio</i> genus and stroke was mediated by ApoA1, HDL_PL, and ApoB/ApoA1, with mediated proportions of 7.6% (<i>P</i>=0.019), 4.2% (<i>P</i>=0.035), and 9.1% (<i>P</i>=0.013), respectively. Conclusion The current MR study provides evidence supporting the causal relationships between several specific GM taxa and stroke and potential mediating metabolites.

        Commutability Assessment of Candidate External Quality Assessment Materials for Aminotransferase Activity Measurements Based on Different Approaches in China

        Background: Using commutable external quality assessment (EQA) materials is important for monitoring successful harmonization efforts. We assessed the commutability of four human serum pool (HSP) preparations to identify candidate EQA materials for alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) activity measurement. Methods: One set each of 85 clinical samples (CSs) was collected for ALT and AST activity measurement. The 15 candidate EQA materials included four types of HSP preparations (A to D): materials A, C, and D contained human original recombinant (HOR) aminotransferases; materials B was mixed leftover samples. The CSs and 15 candidate EQA materials were analyzed using seven routine assays, and the ln-transformed results were analyzed in 21 assay pairs. Commutability was assessed using Deming regression, with a 95% prediction interval (CLSI approach) and the difference in bias with an error component model (International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine [IFCC] approach). Results: For ALT, all materials were commutable for 14–21 assay pairs according to the CLSI and IFCC approaches. For AST, B01-03 showed commutability for 14-21 assay pairs, and C01-03 and D01-03 showed commutability for no less than 10 assay pairs according to the two approaches. A01-06 were commutable for 9-16 assay pairs according to the CLSI approach, but for 6-9 assay pairs according to the IFCC approach. Conclusions: Mixed leftover samples showed desirable commutability characteristics as candidate EQA materials for routine aminotransferase activity measurements. Human serum bases supplemented with HOR were commutable for most routine ALT activity measurements.

        Efficacy and Safety of Intravenous Urapidil for Older Hypertensive Patients with Acute Heart Failure: A Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial

        Purpose: Urapidil is putatively effective for patients with hypertension and acute heart failure, although randomized controlled trials thereon are lacking. We investigated the efficacy and safety of intravenous urapidil relative to that of nitroglycerin in older patients with hypertension and heart failure in a randomized controlled trial. Materials and Methods: Patients (>60 y) with hypertension and heart failure were randomly assigned to receive intravenous urapidil (n=89) or nitroglycerin (n=91) for 7 days. Hemodynamic parameters, cardiac function, and safety outcomes were compared. Results: Patients in the urapidil group had significantly lower mean systolic blood pressure (110.1±6.5 mm Hg) than those given nitroglycerin (126.4±8.1 mm Hg, p=0.022), without changes in heart rate. Urapidil was associated with improved cardiac function as reflected by lower N terminal-pro B type natriuretic peptide after 7 days (3311.4±546.1 ng/mL vs. 4879.1±325.7 ng/mL, p=0.027) and improved left ventricular ejection fraction (62.2±3.4% vs. 51.0±2.4%, p=0.032). Patients given urapidil had fewer associatedadverse events, specifically headache (p=0.025) and tachycardia (p=0.004). The one-month rehospitalization and all-cause mortality rates were similar. Conclusion: Intravenous administration of urapidil, compared with nitroglycerin, was associated with better control of blood pressure and preserved cardiac function, as well as fewer adverse events, for elderly patients with hypertension and acute heart failure.
